That's sort of what my friend said about their new album...it's just him making some weird grunting/screaming/growling/shrieking/whatever noises.

Indeed. He went from being one of death metal's better vocalists to being one of the absolute worst. Mike DiSalvo was better than LW's new crap.

Yeah, some past Bodom fans at my school were dissapointed by it because they wanted it to sound more like Hatebreeder. I enjoyed that sound more too, but the album was still well made.

I listened to the 5 or 6 songs I had today cause everyone says its so great but I still can't really get into it. Half of it sounds completely new, the other half sounds like HCDR. Theres really no shreds left of pre-HCDR Bodom in there. I like a lot of the soloing, and some of the riffs aren't too bad. It's not really that I think it's a bad album, I think they could a gajillion times better and there are other bands who put out much better albums than this so it kind of doesn't go very far for me. For Bodom an OK album just isn't gonna cut it. I thought HCDR was as low as they should go for an album, anywhere past that and it really just isn't amazing enough to get much positive response from me.
Shadows
09-27-2005, 02:43 PM
I thought HCDR was great too. :( There it was obvious they were going this way, but there was still a lot of power metal left on it.

I thought HCDR was good but it was like a 6 or 7 compared to the 9 or 9.5 HB and FTR were. It was a good quality album with some power metal influence. This album took none of that though, they are left with barely any, and basically took the whole new americanish riffing style and chopped out about 75% of the leads.
Shadows
09-27-2005, 04:30 PM
There's nothing American about AYDY really. The keyboards and lead style sound nothing like any American band I've ever heard.
IheartSP

The riffs sound extremely American to me. Also the keyboard does sometimes when it is industrial, like in In Your Face.
Just wondering, but how can a riff sound American?
IheartSP
09-27-2005, 06:42 PM
Each country has their own musical movements. The new american movement is huge now, and there has been a scandinavian one in recent years which Bodom was in. They all have similarities and Bodom went from sounding like a "scandinavian" band to an "american" band.

Yeah, Are You Dead Yet? does kind of sound like it could have come from a New Wave of American Heavy Metal band.

Well I'll be damned....
It wasn't really a gradual thing lol but I all of a sudden decided I like the new album...It is still worse than HCDR I think so it's not amazing like some of you say, but I am kinda getting hooked on it. I still stand by most of the things I've said over the past few months, it has metalcore influence and it's nowhere near the other albums, but I am starting to take a liking to it.

HCDR is actually my fav album next to FTR.
It's better than HCDR in my opinion, but not by much. It's pretty weak when being compared to their first three releases.

Yeah, Living Dead Beat is becoming one of my favorite Bodom tracks right now. I don't really like the long keyboard intro, so I just skip it whenever I listen to that song.

One of the reasons why I don't like that song. The rest of the song is pretty generic, if you ask me. The songs that are really worth listening to on HCDR are Chokehold, Bodom Beach Terror, and Little Bloodred Riding Hood.

I really doubt there are any tabs for that yet. There probably won't be for a very long time, so I would just say keep looking...
Hmm. I prefer the new record over HCDR, dunno. It was about time that the ditched the overly-used classical guitar influences and put a bit more metal in it, hehe.

I hate the fact that there is so much bickering over what Children of Bodom's style is now. Sure, some of you think they should've stuck to their PM roots, but hey. They feel like changing their style, and if you are a true Bodom fan...you'll respect that and not argue about which album is the best. They are all good in the sense that they are different. Personally, I don't understand why Hatecrew Death Roll is considered a bad or sellout album; it's catchy as **** and the riffs are great. Are You Dead Yet? is the same. Each album is greatness in it's own right and it's own style. The band decided that they wanted to change their direction a bit with Hatecrew Deathroll and Are You Dead Yet?. You can't say that each album is the same. Hatebreeder is different from Something Wild, and Follow the Reaper is different from Hatebreeder. You can't expect a band NOT to change. Whether you agree with the change (or new direction) or not, you've still got your Something Wild and your Hatebreeder to wear out.

I agree with that. I love the vocals...hell...I love everything in Living Dead Beat, but I like the lyrics to Bastards of Bodom; "don't need a reason, and I won't tell you why. Just say 'go to hell! by the edge of my scyyyyythe!'" :thumb:

I'm sure you could!
Male aggression has to do with sexuality in that we are studying the biological male, and the hormones (FSH, ICSH and Testosterone). From what I've found out, testosterone levels being too high, and the body not having enough serotonin (which is a neurotransmitter and regulates aggression) and...dopemines (which send feelings of pleasure) result in aggression.

I saw it, it's a funny standup.
His thing about whores was good. You aren't a whore, but you are in ones uniform.

I liked what he was saying about the baby standing on the corner selling weed. And the sesame street stuff. Oh! And how he sometimes makes up "black" phrases to confuse his agents?
"ok, bye. zip it up, and zip it out."

My weekend just started also.
Some things to note:
I am now single.
I just realized that I changed my name on here.
Behemoth = Badass Band.
I'm going to go play World of Warcraft ( :upset: Nerd, I know) soon.

Nobody is. :upset:
I feel like listening to Chaotica with all this Behemoth talk. It's been a while since I played Warcraft as well.

I haven't listened to Behemoth.

(not entirely right, but most people aren't.)

You should. They're a very consistent band. Their new death metal is very well done, as is their old black metal. I prefer the death metal side.
(I know not everyone is)
