Something Wild is my favorite along side Follow the Reaper. It was the first CoB album I ever heard and it holds a special place in my heart. I only own an original copy because I bought it online. No place around me carries CoB albums.

If you listen to the beginning of the dvd, when the purple picture of Alexi shows up. That song is played in the background. The quality and the sound of it makes me believe it's a song featured on one of their albums...

At Metal Archives almost everyone hates the new Bodom album, probably because they aren't talking about it in a fanboy-like thread like this one. Not accusing anyone of fanboying but it certainly is possible.

There's only been one review of the album, and it was a positive one.

And some people aren't as open minded. They're so hung up on what the album isn't they're missing out on what it is. Sure, it's not Follow the Reaper or Hatebreeder, but it is a unique release with great riffs, solos, and keyboards. Just because it's a new style doesn't make it worthless. There are a fair few people who need to take a few minutes to realize this.

Sadly, you're not alone. I don't think I'm going to buy it either. I like TLS, got the EP, but that's all I'm gonna take from this. I'll just forever indulge in their previous music. Lurker: This is the best ive heard out of you guys. The verse is catchy and then the arpeggio bit fit perfectly. Also the lead in the verse sounds cool. Also in the breakdown you should add in some pinch harmonics. I like the lead over the acoustic bit too it sounds calmer then you bust out this solo...ha, the fade out solo thing is interesting. Good solo none the less.

Ragnarok: Intro is a bit repetitive. If you fool around a little more you could come up with something really cool. Oohh, lyrics are cool, i like em. I like the riff at bar 57. Its very Iron Maiden-esque. Dude this is an awesome solo! It's perfect...period....As is the second solo. Good job once again.

Riff 4: Catchy intro. Your main influence must be Iron Maiden w/o a question. The verse is sweet too. I like how it sounds different from all the others youve done. The main riff repeating a bunch of times was a good idea... The feel of this song is very aggressive to me...the solo is sweet once again. Higher and higher and then the shredding commences....and back to the main riff. This is very good stuff.

I wanna see your new stuff.

My writing process can be pretty random. Usually I start by hearing a riff in my head and tabbing it out or just messing around on the guitar and stumbling upon something cool. Once I have a riff I start checking out other songs to see the kinds of techniques they can use, and use that and theory applied to my own song. Some parts of Ragnarok were written by my rythym guitarist, the verse, prechorus, and chorus. I wrote the intro, the solos, the bass, drums, and lyrics. Lurker I wrote in a matter of 2 days it was just a creative spurt I guess.

Try looking at some different stuff for inspiration. Don't just listen to music, study it. Open up a guitar pro, find out the mode in a song, the techniques used, the harmony between the lead and the rythym. For example the soft acoustic part to Lurker was inspired by Nemesis by Arch Enemy. I saw they took the awesome chorus lead and made an acoustic rythym for it, so I decided I would try something like that out. Also keep in mind drums and bass can make the songs much smoother and help fill in gaps and transitions.

I will have you all recordings hopefully before November, I can't wait for you to hear the real thing.

I just looked at song 2, and wow it was amazing! I can definately see your In Flames influences. Besides a few out of key notes here and there it was great. My only real complaint is in one part you have a lead that repeats for 2 measures, the rythym just goes an octave up in one of them. It'd sound ebtter if you got rid of that measure and went straight to the one with the other powerchord.

Hello everyone, I was just wondering something possibly stupid... I have been playing for about three and a half years. I am just learning to sweep pick, and my greatest accomplishment on that is doing that fast arpeggio Alexi does in his "Reap and Roll" lick video for example 20. Does anyone here feel I should just give up? I see on this site people say they can solo like that within their first year of playing, and I have never seen many players in front of me, so I just want to know basicly whether or not I suck.

Lemme tell you something Flubby, the people here are GUITAR NERDS. They devote their life to playing guitar, and do nothing else but play 10 hours a day. If you did that for a year you'd be that good too. Never get discouraged by them, I almost did once, but I just practiced more and now I'm pretty good. Also for 3 years thats not bad at all. Just keep playing and practicing and download guitar pro if you don't have it.

Kurt, have you heard anything else besides that album? That album sounds signifigantly different from the previous 3. Get Follow the Reaper or Hatebreeder, and if you like HCDR better than either of those get the new one when it comes out.

Yeah it's in drop C. Try powertab if all else fails, or correct tabs yourself, I do it a lot. I think about 95% of the tabs on there are 95% correct which isn't too bad, that just happens to be one that isnt.

he doesn't use distortion though. only a little bit on Needled 24/7. Using dist on vocals is no good (well if it's a one time thingy ..fine! but not always). bah I don't like singing with distortion. it doesn't sound any good and it feels faked and it's not funny. but ye smoking is good. especially black devils vanilla cos they're black and it looks oooh soo metal :lol: and they smell vanilla so if you have friends who hate smoke they won't bother anymore :wave:
