Whoa. I do not think that dude should've uploaded half the album. Not cool. I missed it anyways. I downloaded the cover and the single, but hey. I'm going to buy the import, so I think I've got the supporting-your-favorite-band-thing covered.

I checked out amazon.com and here is the link for AN import. I'm not sure if this one is THE one (with the DVD) but I'm sure as hell going to find out. I might call and see if it's possible to ask someone about it. If not...maybe email. I'm going to make sure before I spent a shitload of money.

Follow the Reaper...I envy you. I want to get the COBHC babydoll on Rockabilia as soon as I can spare some cash. My shirt is huge. I'm fixing it though...taking it in and I'm thinking of making it a beater.

That would be an interesting thing if we actually did. I'm going with a group of friends and an 18 year old girl (my best friend's sister) will be driving. She is at OSU for college now so we may actually be coming up from Columbus. I'm probably not supposed to be going with them since the driver is so young (last time I went to Harpo's my mom dropped us off) but I must see Bodom. I'll just have to slip one past my parents if the need arises.

Harpo's is a very metal-type setting. Very run-down but still a big place with plenty of space to sell merch. It even has a loft overlooking a pit to mosh in. When I went to see CoF all the poser goth people stood up in the loft...cunts. Me and my friends got right up to the stage.

And MRDuCran, I just checked the website for tour dates. Nothing's been listed for Europe yet, but there's no way they'd do a world tour and leave Europe out of it. A huge part of their fan base is European...a huge part of most metal bands' fan bases are European. They'll put it up eventually, it took a while for North America to get up there too.

Whats up everyone? It's a pretty boring day, I've been practicing my bands songs cause I'm a bit sloppy. I've been listening to Are You Dead Yet? and it's starting to grow on me. Although just beucase I like it doesn't mean it's all that great musically. It seems to take after newer american metalcore/death metal, somewhere around the likes of Black Dhalia. I wish they still had a European sound but oh well it's still Bodom.

Shadows
08-26-2005, 05:44 PM
Howdy there Aces, I haven't seen you aound these parts in a while. :) It's good to hear you're getting used to the new Bodom. I knew you couldn't resist. I think it's focused more on catchiness and the "heavy ****ing metal in your face!!!" ideals than the neoclassical virtuosity of past works. I love it as you already know. I think thanks to Janne it still sounds very European.

IheartSP
08-26-2005, 05:46 PM
Janne sounds way more industrial now than European. I must admit that is great music for when your angry, but I've always been a fan of melodic european stuff, and I was hoping I'd have some more of that to listen to. Oh well I've been listening to more and more death metal lately so I guess this is kind of good, it's got that angry feel but still the familiar Bodom sound. Everyone go to www.cobhc.com and vote for what songs they play on the tour. I voted for Kissing the Shadows, Lake Bodom, Warheart, and Towards Dead End.

Shadows
08-26-2005, 05:49 PM
I already voted. I made sure to since I'll be seeing them in November. I went with Kissing the Shadows, Bodom After Midnight, Bed of Razors, and Deadnight Warrior.

I forgot about the Industrial elements. I don't think Janne sounds Industrial - just his usual atmospheres set to heavier metal.

And I thought you always hated death metal...?

I like some death metal, I'm usually not a fan. As far as straight death metal I don't listen to any but Melodeath is decent. Gothenburg I think of differently, In Flames and Dark Tranquility are awesome, but I am into Arch Enemy too and Black Dhalia is ok. Bodom is starting to sound more like that.

Yeah unfortunately. I still stand by my theory that Alexi thinks Sinergy will be his replacement as power metal. He uses them as an oppurtunity to do something new with Bodom. I think that whole process began with HCDR.

I haven't heard anything new besides In Your Face and the cover since I'm waiting to get the entire album. It sounds promising if you say they have some death metal in there too.

But I still maintain that there isn't one single aspect of Bodom that's hardcore. *stamps foot* :)

I don't think Sinergy will replace Bodom. They're a sideproject and I don't think they'll ever be more than that for Alexi. He loves CoB. He has CoB symbols tattoo'd all over his body and everything. He's said that he hasn't outgrown the neoclassical stuff, it just "isn't in right now". I guess he feels like it's time to experiment with Bodom. And I must say, I agree. After three blatantly power metal albums it would be boring as hell for the band and the fans to reuse the same style for several more albums.

IheartSP
08-26-2005, 07:19 PM
I'd never protest if he made more powermetal I thought htey were always innovative with it and it still sounds new when I listen to it. I don't see why trends would affect a band like that, neoclassical being in or not seems a bit ridiuclous for a reason.

You're right about it sounding more like HCDR. I'm happier with it than with IYF, that was sorely disappointing. It's more dissonant, as opposed to the melodic stuff I'm used to hearing from bodom. I don't hear death metal influences though  Then again, I'm not that into death metal, and probably wouldn't be able to pick up the death influences.

hm...I don't really like Are You Dead Yet. In Your Face is ok. The verse sucks on both songs. the In Your Face verse is just breakbeat and fast with no real cool guitar melodies like in the early days. Are You Dead Yet is just DunDun DunDun DunDun and then some annoying dodo dododo guitar **** that sound slike it came from Slipknot or something. The best part is after all that when they go back to the main verse and he double bass kicks in. So far I like In Your Face better. I like the part when it just goes dodododo dodo do dododo dodo and they all yell "Incoming"

After every song I hear off this album I notice it is less and less Bodom. It's turned into MTV music. It's the best of the MTV type stuff but it's still MTV type stuff. The whole In Your Face (pun intended) attitude is really starting to bother me, and it sounds more like they are writing punk music than metal.
   x100,000,000

They've always had the "in your face attitude", it's just coming out in their music instead of just the lyrics like in the past. This is still far away from MTV music. I really think you're being too cynical about this. Just because they've changed into more of a conventional metal style doesn't mean they're selling out to become another American Metalcore band whose poised to become outrageously popular on MTV.

Once again, what the hell is so bad about punk?

If you think COB is writing punk music, you seriously need to start listening to actual punk.

I was suprised when Headbanger's Ball put TL&S on their roster, though.

I thought the first lyrics in downfall went like this:
"looking at myself in the mirror, is it me?"

when it actually goes like this:
"The night of timeless fire is drawing near I flee..."

I've only seen a few of them.

Needled 24/7 - Circus freaks and ballerinas  Apparently they didn't want any of that, the director snuck it in while they were on tour.

Everytime I die - Grim reaper randomly running through the woods.

TL&S - Decent, but pretty typical metal video.

Hey, that's cool! I'll be at that exact same show! Maybe we'll run into each other. :)

Everyone here needs to get to the show at Harpo's in Detroit on the 12th if possible. We could have an MX reunion.

The reaper actually ran into a tree during the Everytime I Die video. The band was really pissed about the circus crap that the director put into Needled 24/7 too. That's too bad, it was a great song, but the video was funny as hell.

Hello there, and welcome to the forums. :) We'll all be happy to give you some recommendations and YSI's.

For the more black metallish and atmospheric sound, try their first album Something Wild.

For the faster and more aggressive, try their second album Hatebreeder.

For the most synth-laden and Scandinavian feeling (and probably most technical) try their third, Follow the Reaper.

Their fourth, Hate Crew Deathroll, is the heaviest and least techical so far.

Recommended songs: Kissing the Shadows, Deadnight Warrior, Bed of Razors, Needled 24/7.

Well I think it sounds liek powermetal but many people say it's slightly black metal. I've heard some Dimmu Borgir, some Borknagar, some Mayhem, and some Emporer, and none of it sounds anywhere close to Something Wild.
