If he is, he sure isn't showing it. Hidden agenda, possibly.
Oh, he's showing it. I can read him like a book. You just have to know how to look for these things; I can do that. He's completely threatened by us. Me especially, because quite frankly, who wouldn't be? I'm superior to every human in every aspect.

Because you, as you put it, are a girl. C'mon. A female metalhead? What's not to be threatened by?

NP: Cradle of Filth - ...aw screw it. I'm not listening to anything.

And by the way, I'll have those CoF albums uploaded on the other forum as soon as YSI gets it's head out of it's ***.

So now you're making violent threats? MX should require a background check on everyone who tries to join this forum.

You are actually one of two female metalheads I have ever known.

We won't be banninated. I have personal ties with some of the mods. You I'm not so sure of though.

But I did mention Cradle a few posts up, so we're not way off.

The mods in R&M wouldn't ban for that.

There was probably a month of time where the Tool thread hardly ever mentioned Tool. Threads like these should be treated as a community thread for fans of the band, as well as band conversation. At least that's what I think. THat's how the Tool thread is, and it's by far my favorite place on MX.

Doesn't it though? I made the mistake of saying that I hoped I got some "action" on this show, me being the secretary and all. No one latched on to that though; I've gotta remember these things. lmfao. Jason said I could be his love interest because he doesn't want to be involved with Jelle.

I'm trying. I've got them all ripped and compressed, but YSI isn't working. All I can do is wait for it to start loading again and I'll hook you guys up with Cradle and Shadows Fall.

The cradle cover of hallowed is ideal for getting into the band. Me being such a maiden fanboy That's the first cradle song I heard, back in the non- internet days I bought lovecraft and witchhearts just to have that song, I then listened to the other stuff on there and went from there.

DavidFilth
07-12-2005, 08:58 AM
The only gripe I have against Hallowed Be Thy Name (Cradle cover, not the actual Maiden song) is the excessive use of studio effects on Dani's voice. It's not really necessary, I listen to Live Bait for the Dead (their live album) and I really do prefer his natural voice to the studio-aided one on the album versions of the songs. Dani's shreiks and growls sound much harsher live, and it sounds so much more natural.......

Hell yeah, I knew that. But just because there's heavier stuff doesn't mean they're not heavy.

Shadows Fall can be heavy as hell sometimes...like in the bridge portion of Destroyer Of Senses right before the solo.

Heeeeey...Cradle's cover of Hallowed Be Thy Name was my first Cradle song too, along with Her Ghost In The Fog. However, i thought HBTN was CoF's original... :upset:

If you like HBTN, then you should listen to Lustmord and Wargasm off their Cruelty and The Beast album.....it's a VERY good song, brilliant writing by Dani, and Mr. Barker going insane on those double bass pedals, definately one of their epic songs!

Damnation and a Day is all of the events of the Bible being told from perspective of Satan. A very good concept if you ask me.

Yes. For albums, the two I would STRONGLY reccommend would be The Principle of Evil Made Flesh and Midian.

If you don't want to get the full albums, then check out these songs:
Lord Abortion (Lord Abortion's favorite :thumb: )
The Forest Whispers My Name (Metal_Head_617's favorite)

Beneath The Howling Stars is such a beastly song...he (Dani) hits some of the highest and lowest notes I've ever heard in a CoF song.

BTHS is incredibly structured
the pause before dani hits those notes "beneath the howling *highnote* staaaaaaaars"

I really think COF are awesome. The riffs are heavy, hard, fast and very original unlike many modern metal bands.

The drums are immense, the double-bass bringing a deep heavy tone to the songs.

The bass just contributes awesomely to the band giving it a nice pure metal tone.

They dont over-use guitar solos like a lot of bands, shoving them in every single song making them sound poorly constructed and and out of place, yet when they do the occasional solo they really really can play, and write great solos!

And dani filth's voice is just outstanding, stretching over about 1000 octaves lol, he can hit the best high notes or the deepest low notes and not lose any of the quality.

Most importantly...god ****it can they play live!! they are definately not a studio band!

God bless COF!!! :thumb:

Cradle of Filth was probably the first 'heavier' band I listened to. Then I went to COB, and off into the depths of BM. I still listen to COF sometimes though, I like Dani's vocals.

You should hear the original from their debut album. The Bitter Suites version of that and The Black Goddess Rises were both awful.

:thumb:

exactly what he said. So many people flame CoF, but they're all very talented musicians, who have their own style. You can't say they're unoriginal, because they somewhat started the genre of that type of black metal. It's not straight up black metal, more melodic I guess. Plus, they do definitely have one hell of a live show.

I appreciate them a lot, its just that a lot of people nowadays are abandoning intereset in Cradle of filth because they are not the way they used to be, they have become commercial and have changed far too much in comparison to how they used to be. Really, deep down a lot of people love cradle, i know i do, but some people are just too ignorant and just refuse to admit it because they feel they wont be 'true' enough if they do. thats why they dont appreciate them.

Atatath
08-17-2005, 02:02 AM
Oh thats easy: 'The Principle of Evil made flesh', which as im on the same wavelength as you, its their best album and most black metal.
Failing that try 'midian' thats a good album, hope that helps you.

Fat people are hard to kidnap
08-17-2005, 02:05 AM
But does it stand up to albums like: In The Nightside Eclipse and Storm of the Light's Bane?

EDIT: i'm not trying to put down CoF or anything, its just that i only have a few bucks to spend and since the music i like is expensive (17-20) a cd, i have to have a real good reason to pass up a supreme black metal band for CoF, ya know?

Atatath
08-17-2005, 02:15 AM
Obviously id doesnt match up to emperor and such great black metal bands...
In fact dont buy cradle of filth, i know i shouldnt be saying this on a cradle of filth themed forum thread, but buy a cd that i bought a few weeks ago, a blackend collection album, that consists of 4 Enthroned albums in one big CD case, its £17 but its well worth it. that should keep you entertained.

Hi Treason wall. yeah sonata are good, i saw them at the thirteenth day gig, with the great Finntroll and Norther as well as others... But if your a good nightwish fan, you have to get 'wishmaster' or 'century child', but if you only need century child to complete your collection, get it by all means, but older nightwish is far better than the new stuff,

I recently downloaded "Nymphetamine" and the only reason I did was because of that woman's voice. It sort of got me hooked on the song when I first heard it.
I don't care if Dani is ruining his vocal chords for us, if you don't like it, you don't like it.
I've heard that he actually has a very nice singing voice when he stops growling. He simply uses it to compliment his music. I don't have a problem with that, but his voice really doesn't make me want to listen to much more of their stuff.

graveworm did that cover, not cradle

to surmise:

Dave Pybus returns to the band on bass

James Macillroy leaves the band

Charles, who played bass on the last tour takes rythym guitar duties

no replacement for martin has yet been found, but the keyboard duties are done by the orchestrator that has worked with the band the last 2 albums

the DVD has artwork done for it and will be released soon under the title "peace through superiour firepower"- late october/november release date there

Yeah, it was pretty raw and all that, but it wasn't all to great. 3.5/5 sounds
about right.

Midian, Dusk and Her Embrace, and ****ation and a Day will always be my favorites, though Nymphetamine is growing on me A LOT.

Nymphetamine has some ****ing incredible lead/harmonized riffs. The only thing I didn't like about that album was Dani's vocals - he was holding back and din't use his really scream like in the past. Other than that the album was perfect. At least a new album is in the works - I'm excited already.

The guitar on Nymphetamine is better than any other guitar work they have ever done...
Maybe apart from the first album...
Filthy little secret is a prime example of this...

 I thought the guitar work on the first album was their most simplistic.

Nymphetamine had amzing guitar like Filthy Little Secret, Nemesis, Absinthe With Faust, Medusa and Hemlock, etc. Some brutally catchy stuff there.

Simple but effective especially on TFWMN and TPOEMF.

But if you want awesome bass, TPoEMF is awesome. :thumb:

Agreed, so many songs on there are awesome. Lord Abortion (the song ) is by far the coolest CoF song I have ever heard. The part where Dani is rapping with the drums and cello is awesome! :D

My heart was a wardrum beat
By jugular cults in eerie jungle vaults
When number thirteen fell in my lap
Lips and skin like sin, a Venus Mantrap
My appetite whetted, storm crows wheeled
At the blurred edges or reason 'til I was fulfilled
Whors d'oeuvres eaten, I tucked her into
A grave coffin fit for the Queen of Spades
She went out like the light in my mind
Her face an avalanche of pearl, of ruby wine
Much was a flux, but the mouth once good for ****s
Came from retirement to prove she had not lost her touch
I kissed her viciously, maliciously, religiously
But when has one been able to best seperate the three?
I know I'm sick as Dahmer did, but this is what I do
Aah, aah, ahh, I'll let you sleep when I am
Through

Those are CoF's coolest lyrics.

It'a amzing! Every song has two pages worth of music.

I always thought he had a great voice as well. I'm really excited about the new album as it has an instrumental played by the band, which they've never done before.

Awesome. I'd like to hear an instrumental from these guys.

I like Cradle of Filth a lot because each album is very different. When you get a new album of their's it's as though your getting into a new kind of music, and not just checking out more material by a band you like.

Right. No two of their albums are alike. The only exception to this is that BStS may be a little similar to CatB.

If you listen to the newer stuff, it gets alot of reasons behind murder in the lyrics, and has alot of psychological reasons why people become serial killers if you can look past the gore...

Perhaps, but after reading the lryics to "I Cum Blood", I decided that I was going to try and listen to as little of their music as possible.

Dave mustaine is pretty Fu*king great too

But Dani is a very close tie to Dave

His lyrics for Her ghost are fu*king orgasmic

The Moon, she hangs like a cruel portrait
soft winds whisper the bidding of trees
as this tragedy starts with a shattered glass heart
and the Midnightmare trampling of dreams
But no, no tears please
Fear and pain may accompany Death
But it is desire that shepherds it's certainty
as We shall see..."

She was divinity's creature
That kissed in cold mirrors
A Queen of Snow
Far beyond compare
Lips attuned to symmetry
Sought Her everywhere
Dark liqoured eyes
An Arabian nightmare...

She shone on watercolours
Of my pondlife as pearl
Until those who couldn't have Her
Cut Her free of this World

I'm in the car with my dads g-friends son who tells me about this band called "Cradle of Filth" and that he would listen to them whenever he needed to get pumped up for a basketball game or somthing cause he said they were pretty hard. He gets out a CD and I didn't look at it and he puts it in and takes me to this song where somewhere in the song he starts singing really fast at a super low voice and gradually get really high still singing fast.
