so weird story. i had a dream last night that i was in a music store, and i found an avenged sevenfold DVD in one of the racks that i had no idea had been released. i woke up this morning (or this afternoon), and lo and behold on their myspace page it says they are releasing a DVD in the spring. i thought that was kinda ****ed up. anyways im pretty stoked for it. you think it will be a live DVD or like an in studio thing?

CityOfEvil

I dont know if it will be a live or in studio, but its sure I'll buy it.

I think a live DVD would be very nice.

DKMode
01-18-2007, 10:23 AM
i somehow doubt it will be live though cuz the myspace page says they have just finished filming in huntington beach, and to the best of my knowledge they arent playing any shows right now. even if it is just an in studio thing it will be awesome cuz the guys are really entertaining. im pumped for it.

CityOfEvil
01-18-2007, 02:53 PM

Do you know exactly when or it only say in spring?

randomthought9

Yeah, that should be pretty cool. I've never liked live CD/DVD's, but I'd watch it.

AA-12
01-18-2007, 05:12 PM
Uhmm... they're definately not original, but they're quite unique... they do something similar to what other bands have done, but they keep their own sound often enough.... though at certain points I've nearly blatant ripping off of Metallica, Norma Jean, and Guns N Roses.

I'd say my favorite A7X song would be We Come Out At Night.

City of Evil is Velveeta metal, it's so ****ing cheesey, and it's so over produced.

Every band has a band they wanted to be/have been influenced by.

So, which songs do you play on guitar of A7X?

AA-12
01-19-2007, 07:09 PM
Any of them and all, haha. I love playing their stuff. Unholy Confessions is the most fun throughout the whole thing though.

CityOfEvil

I like it too.

Wont see you tonight and M.I.A are nice to play too.

by far the funnest song to play on drums is IWSYT2. its got alot of cool double bass stuff in it. second heartbeat is also awesome, and so are burn it down and beast and the harlot

except it doesnt say that, it says they are a rock band who commonly wear clothes associated with emo or fashioncore (whatever the **** that is).

and to the guy above me, keep trying to learn beast and the harlot cuz i learned the rhythm part on guitar and even that is ridiculously fun to play. i dont know how good you are but youll probably have problems with the solo though considering even syn says he still cant play it properly sometimes.

and on another side note, apparently the dvd is chronicling their history as a band. it says so on wikipedia.

CityOfEvil
01-20-2007, 02:48 PM
Ok Im gonna retry to learn it. If Syn has difficulties to do it, im never gonna do it

Oh, thats not what I was looking for the DVD. But im gonna buy it nevertheless.

randomthought9

Well, it's pretty much the only A7X song I can play really, but chapter four is fun to play.

CityOfEvil
01-20-2007, 03:44 PM
I play chapter four too. I have a lot of difiiculty with the solo.

M.I.A is one of the best song they play but the lead guitar is hard, the solo part.

i mainly improvise it.

CityOfEvil
01-20-2007, 03:58 PM
I play it with guitar pro.

Man that is so hard. I cant go as fast as he goes. Syn is very talented.

i mainly improvise it

Do you play it perfectly or you do it your way?

Happy
01-20-2007, 04:03 PM
i do the first solo my own way and stick to what they play for the harmonised and second solo.

CityOfEvil
01-20-2007, 04:06 PM
Okay. I tried many times to do it but I cant. I do like play slow parts and the skip fast.
My problem is more the picking.

youve only been playing a year right?
ive been playing over 2 years and cant play it exactly like him so dont worry man.

CityOfEvil
01-20-2007, 04:55 PM
Thats right. I think not a year yet. I dont know exactly when I started to.
It will take me more than 2 years to play some Syn's solo perfectly.

DKMode

well it makes sense. they said they werent as excited about playing the same stuff every night, so they wanted to write some new songs so the fans would get a better show. i think they were gonna start writing and preproduction in december and its supposed to be out in october, but i cant remember where i heard that.

I'm scared.

Wow, this is a lot better than their popular stuff... I still hate their singer's voice, but this is a vast improvement from pop-punk to generic alternative.

and damn, Matt's voice is way too thrashed now days to be any good... that rasp makes me sad.

Hate Crew Deathroll
01-23-2007, 02:41 AM
I like that rasp tbh. I though his verse was very cool and suprisingly, the chorus was pretty catchy too. Solo was crap though.

BoboTheRagingHobo
01-23-2007, 02:51 AM

Also that rasp more like sounds like a struggle to get the vocals out, and not an intended rasp.

I miss I Won't See You Tonight, pt. I style clean vocals.

ha... wow this song is catchy... very catchy.

That hurt to listen to. (the rasp) His voice sounds just trashed. He really should stop singing before he can't talk ever again. That sounds reallllly shredded.

its not an avenged sevenfold song bud, its good charlotte featuring matt and syn. that basically means they had no hand in writing any of it, they just played on it.

Sometimes you help write the song that you "guest" on so it's not always the case. The dude from GC could have said "ok you'll do this verse, go write some lyrics", we can't be sure until you check the album credits or whatever.

DKMode

woulda been way sweeter if syn played a ripping shred solo for like 2 minutes, but then i guess it wouldnt quite fit the song. and also GC are too shitty for cool stuff like that.

on another note, i read a thing where the rev says on the next album he is going to play so much more nutty stuff on the drums that he wants the other guys to have to tell him to calm down at certain points. this made me (as well as other drummers, im sure) quite happy. god as every day goes by i get more pumped to hear something new from this CD

This is actually a tremendously catchy tune. I like it; in fact, I never thought I'd say I enjoy a GC song. LOL!

Not even Matt Heafy's voice sounds that bad, he just sounds really weak constantly.

Jesse Leach's voice is back and more powerful than ever because he gave himself a few years before he went back to touring.

I don't know of any other singers who screamed and sang who gave up screaming because they were blowing their voice out doing it wrong.

The moral of the story is that Matt Sanders' voice is now worse than Matt Heafy's anyway. That's bad, that's real bad.

Plus, if I wanted 'em to sound sloppy then it'd be easy but I don't like to do that so I'd probably have to work on em a bit.

i guess im just really not into pop rock, which that song is basically the epitome of. anyways the link below is of me drumming along to beast and the harlot. the music is in the background so its not super boring to watch. i miss a cymbal at the end of the solo, but i think its not bad overall, considering it was spontaneous and i only decided to record it when it came on my ipod in shuffle mode.

Sounding the Seventh Trumpet is a sick album. Brutal screams, twisted downtuned guitar lines, and a few soft things thrown in. A couple of songs don't really hit the mark but pretty good for A7X's first endeavor. Must say though that I find Waking the Fallen to be a bit over-rated. There are some pretty good songs on it but a lot of it just falls short, somewhere in between metalcore and 3 Doors Down-esque hard rock. City of Evil on the other hand, is ****ing insane. Awesome album. It manages to revitalize the kind of clean sung energetic heavy metal that bands like Iron Maiden pioneered in the 80s.

I listen to the entire album Waking the fallen yesterday. All the songs are great and some are amazing. To end the Rapture is not very long, like 1 minute and a half but the guitar on this song is so awesome. I listen some songs of Sounding the Seventh Trumpet too, some great, some just normal.

I'm about like you CityOfEvil, Waking the Fallen was my favorite album of A7X's by far. Matt's vocals were miles ahead of what they are today, sadly. I could do without his hardcore/banshee screaming, but his Hetfield-style vocals were amazing(chorus of Radiant Eclipse, ending of Chapter Four, etc). The City of Evil album was a slight disappointment to me as Matt's vocals sound trashed, and Matt's vocals were my favorite part of the band. But then again, the rest of the band sounds tighter on CoE than on any of the other albums. I have a bad feeling about their next album, but hopefully they'll get make it work even with Matt having crappy vocals now.

If you actually think CoE is bearable, you are in serious need of a new set of ears. When i first obtained this 'album' I was fair, give it a go and all that. But last night i listened to it again for the first time in about 5/6 months and i was appalled. WTF and STST are good albums, but what the hell happened here?

So many of you kids jumped on the band-wagon with this band. I'm glad you're all confident to stand up for your own "opinions", but it's still garbage. The only thing worth mentioning off of CoE is the improvement on the guitars, but even then I still hear cheese. I started listening to these guys at least 5 years ago, long before they released WTF. The transition they made going into that album was great. They went from a Punk-Rock/Hardcore sound into more of a Metal-core band. And at the time it was done, it was great. This whole change into this glam-metal or whatever you can call it, just wasn't smooth. They sound too much like Motley Crue, or Guns and Roses, and strangely enough look like them too. You kids say it's great and awesome, but how is it? Saying something is great or crap, isn't having an opinion. You kids get all hostile when people insult your music, but if you have an opinion people will respect it.

those 2 both took me a little time to get used to - especially part 2 - but now i love them............especially part 2!!! i like how it has such a frantic tone to it, which is apparently what they were going for.

I just listen to Warmness on the soul on STST.

Its like the calmest song of all Avenged Sevenfold. I like it though.

One of my favourite songs. I wish I could play it on piano :p

its hard to tell who plays piano on which song because im pretty sure the rev, shadows, and syn are all fairly practiced pianists who have all played on certain songs. im pretty sure its the rev on IWSYT1, and shadows on WotS. i also heard it was syn on seize the day. i dont know its all confusing, anyone know if any of this is true, or am i just talking out of my ***?

I think Gates is credited for most if not all of the piano work on COE, if I correctly recall.

It might say in the booket. It says in the StST that M. Shadows plays all acoustic guitars and keyboards.

On City of Evil or WTF album its says who play what.

Syn plays piano on Seize the day if I remember corectly. For the other I dont remember.

I know that on City Of Evil almost all the acoustic guitar is play by Syn's father Brian Haner.

Nope, Syn's dad plays all acoustic guitars on CoE. I know Shadows wrote Warmness and Seize the day on the piano, no clue if he plays 'em.

If you look in the video, theres like 3 seconds where we saw Matt stopping signing and you can see his arms moving, dont know if it is because he plays piano.

The Warmness video? Yeah he's playing piano in that. He wrote it to his girlfriend.

Ok so thats what I thought.

But why its not the rest of the band who play in that video? Well, its not seem that there is Syn or Zacky or The Rev in it. Like the solo its not one of the two.

The Rev and Zacky are in it. Zacky plays the solo.
Syn hadn't joined the band at that point and they had a different bassist.

Zacky doesnt look the same in that.

Damn you know all of them. I thought I know many things but not that much actually

I didn't say anything about CoE. I said:

"It says in the StST that M. Shadows plays all acoustic guitars and keyboards."

And Apparantly S.Gates was in the band at that point otherwise it wouldn't say this in the album booklet too:

"Avenged Sevenfold Is...

M.Shadows - Vocals
Zacky Vengeanec - Guitar
Synyster Gates - Guitar"

etc.

I do apologise then :p

COE looks like I don't know much either haha.

I think Syn's not in the video because he joined right before the release?
