Your gonna learn all of WTF, thats cool, but the title track might be a little bit of a hastle. Can you find me a correct tab of Unholy Confessions and possibly Second Heartbeat if it's not to much trouble, I can't tell which ones are good and which ones suck.

I'm just gonna reply to some stuff I saw in here....
But I don't see where you get off talking about Metallica selling out cause they changed there style three times in 20 years when A7X has practically changed theri style
every album. And how the hell can you say they were selling out because they created St.Anger? that was your worst comment ever.
If that was directed at me, not once did i claim Metallica 'sold out'. I said they were money hungry. This in only my opinion though. You can always look at things in different lights. I beleive load and re-load were money grabbing albums because when they were released 'rock' music was rather popular among the mainstream. Metallica took advantage of this. Then we get to St.Anger. Some people with claim that this was a 'bold' new area for Metallica, but i disagree. I just think they were trying to play on the success of the whole nu-metal thing. Downtuned guitars, repetitive riffs, lame lyrics and no solos. Sound Fimiliar?
All opinions though.

It's sadly become "acceptable" for bands to come up with no talent and make it huge.... I blame mtv and fuse... for parading all these talentless bands as if they are god.
It's happening with all genres as well... Thanks to mtv, people now consider mcr "punk".
Last time I checked punk was, Misfits, Dead kennedys, sex pistols and such.
Metal,
Thanks to headbangersball or w/e it is.
They play a ton of lame hxc bands and nu metal... Then mention some noteworthy band and people say....
WOW... they must really know music...
I really think the standards of music have been lowered...

Okay so maybe that one comment was out of line. Let me re-state it....
It is a very unique and unpredictable album (coming from the last two) but after listening to the first song you have the entire album listened too. but you can say the same thing for St.Anger it was very unpredictable and after Frantic they repeat the whole time But neverthe less let's put this behind us and move on (again)
Sorry that you had to be here for this Rodex.
Sorry, but I still disagree with this a lot (the bit about CoE). Theres so much going on in all the songs, theres no way that you can say that. What about the acoustic ending to Sidewinder? Or the orchestral intro to Strength of the World? These are just two examples but I think most songs on the album have something interesting to offer.

I wasn't trying to randomely bash them, but Alexi just always came off as a prick to me for some reason. I'm sure he isn't it just seems that way to me. I wasn't trying to randomely bash them, I just wanted to stop the arguing, it's nonsence, the same points are repeated every single post.
Even though I like I got that impression for the longest time. Then I got to meet him and he's actually really cool. He let me touch his guitars and pick his brains for advice. Really neat guy.
But Janne was by far the coolest of them

I haven't ever had a chance to meet them, I just got into the whole Metal sceneand bands like that recently within the last year or so, they only came here once and it was night after Arch Enemy which I went to, and that was the night after A7X which I went to and I was flat broke so I couldn't go. :(

My respect for Alexi as a person went after his comments about Dream Theater and Petrucci, but its not going to stop me listening to them. Theres plenty of people in metal who seem like idiots as people (Axl Rose, Phil Anselmo, even M Shadows appears to be a little arrogant in some interviews I've read), but I'm still a huge fan of their music.
Anyone notice how its always the frontmen...

Yeah, they are the only ones who kiss enough *** to make it big.
/South Park Rock The Vote episode.
But yeah, they have the biggest egos, but they kinda have to, they can't be pushovers and say they suck or else they won't be successful at all.
Joe (Arucard) please stay out of the CoB thread, and any other thread where you post your opinions. Unless you have something nice to say, don't say it.

You can't decide someone is arrogant from reading text... Unless the words said are overt...
I think it shows more in how they express their words... Which you kinda have to see.
I think all frontmen of bands are somewhat arrogant. Some more then others.
I think Matt Heafy takes the cake for that though...
If someone is just calm and says w/e without bringing it up a ton and lowering anyone else... They don't sound as exciting to the casual viewer/listener...
I think it would get to anyone's ego having thousands of people think your god... w/e band from any genre.

I haven't watched Headbangers ball since it came back on tv for the first few months. It was horrible, almost all the bands played were the typical bands you would expect, all the heavy newer metal that came out like Godsmack, Cradle of Filth and just all the bands that I really can't stand.
I can't imagine how it is now, but I can't imagine it being any better than before, the last time it seemed interesting is when I heard Nightwish's video was making a debut.

10 Jan 2006 Avenged Sevenfold throat issues
M. Shadows has admitted that a recurring throat problem forced him to change his vocal style.
Shadows says the change that came into effect for the recording of the band's current album, 'City of Evil', was a change for the better.
While Shadows screamed his way through the group's first two albums, he said he's since learned how to sing properly, and so improved the group's music.
"You know, I had a blood vessel that kept popping. It wasn't a nodule or anything normal, it was just like a small, minor surgery. And when I went to have the surgery, you know, the doctor, he's like, 'You know what, you're gonna keep having this surgery over and over if you don't get some kind of technique or stop screaming.' And so we wanted that on this record. In a way, we were gonna do it anyways, but it was nice to have that whole medical thing backing it up."
Nothing new really, but I guess it gets rid of any hope there might of been of him bringing the scream back.

So none of them get the same treatment? I went in because they were saying ridiculous things about Avenged Sevenfold 'OmgzZZ tyHery look like FAgs|ZZ LOL!!!!' and it angers me that CoB fans can be such idiots. They need to look at their faverouite band and realise 'oh yeh, their not actually that hardcore metal after all, i only like them because i like being a bad *** and against 'hardcore' (which i'd like to point out they don't know what it is atall).
It doesn't really matter if you ban me anyway remember, because i post in a burst once every week to argue with these douches.

I disagree. STST was a very good album IMO, my favorite song is from that album, "Turn The Other Way", I used to not like, but if you give it a try it'll grow on you, the biggest thing for me was his yelling voice, but I grew accustomed to it and it just kinda fits in now.
How did you learn Unholy Confessions, tab or what, cause I'm trying to learn that song.

I just pulled this outta my head, trying to remember how I play,
A7X "Unholy Confessions" main riff.
I can't promise my memory is right without grabbing my guitar, but I tried.

I just can't say anything bad about Avenged Sevenfold and not kill myself. its just not possible. They started a revolution of metal sound and now with the release of "City of Evil" have sprouted into a new genre which they again dominate in. Every Album was a masterpiece. STST was the best metal album ive ever heard. WTF was not as hardcore, but nevertheless, BEAUTIFUL. City of Evil, the best current album out!
"Beast and the Harlot" is the perfect opening of an amazing album. The double bass is awesome not only in that song but the whole album. Either that or "Trashed and Scattered" are my favs on the album. "Seize the Day" follows closely behind. It kind reminds me of "Warmness of the Soul" off of STST, but with a GNR touch. amazing stuff
their next album will have some serious competition, as every album released has beaten their previous in some way.

His vocals are very nasaly, but the only bit that really bothers me is the end of M.I.A., where his voice sounds terrible (despite M.I.A. being possibly my favourite song on the album).
I read on a fan site that apparently the third single from CoE will be Sieze the Day. Quite a surprising choice I reckon, but I suppose most of the songs on the album are too long to be singles, plus it shows a different side to them compared to Bat Country and Beast and the Harlot.

Well that's how they are gonna atract the very emo kids, and the 80's metalheads, with a Power Ballad. And about MIA, I kinda sounds like he is crying at the end of MIA, but also singing at the same time.

In some ways i agree. Seize the day is a beautiful power ballad that completely reminds me of "Sweet Child of Mine", which i love. But Beast and the Harlot is a fast paced, guitar ripping song with sweet double bass beats, that i personally think would attract more people album that seize the day would.

avenged sevenfold (I'm not sure when "X" started meaning "fold", but okay) used to be the butt end of every bad metal joke in the underground muic scene. everyone with taste hated them, their awful vocalist, their cheesy wanna-be 80's metal vibe, and their horrendous goth-dork-gone-homosexual image. they are all about image. bat country is the worst song i have ever heard composed. the mind-numbing "I-E-I-E-I-E" vocal melody makes my colon clench and i start to feel embarassed for my grandkids because they will have to live in a world where this was once the most popular song around.
so yeah. this band huff the biggest dong in orange county, which is a hard prize to earn because 18visions, throwdown, AND atreyu hail from there.

Yes. Those other bands from Orange County suck alot.. Atreyu is the most vile out of them, for stealing the riff to The Hive by In Flames.
However....

sucess= sellout .....and the list goes on for terms to insult a band that's gaining sucess.
I'm not starting... the CoB debate up... but on "sucessful bands being hated"...
That happened with AYDY.... They got a little more popular. People couldn't stand that...

Im proud to say that i didnt get hooked on A7x because of bat country. Some of my friends are like "omg i love a7x, bat country rocks!" i ask them if theyve heard ne other song by them, and they say no. No offence, but i really dont like people who are like that, just because they like one song that hit mainstream completely (tho i gotta admit, it really is catchy), it is NOTHING like STST and WTF.
I got completely hooked on A7x thanks to WTF, with songs like Chapter Four, and Pt 1, then i immediately went to STST. I found STST better than WTF (not to start any arguments here, just my personal, non-flaming opinion.)
Then COE came out which really blew my mind, because they can keep changing genres (more or less) and they excell at it. Bat country (no offence) is actually my least favorite song on the album because it is played too darn much.

I don't think i explained what i meant very well. I just meant that if he was a full on prog-head he might not like STST. I know that COE isnt prog and he likes that, but it has more prog elements (there really isnt many, but ripping solos and longer songs sorta are similar to prog) than STST which is heaps different. But hey, what am i talking about? I should have realised that almost everyone is into heaps of different sub-genres of metal. *Was tired yesterday*.

There was a time when Avenged Sevenfold wasn't so awful, image-wise. Musically I think they've improved leaps and bounds (except for Bat Country. Not the worst song ever written, but easily Avenged Sevenfold's worst song) in their latest album, but Christ, THIS is what it feels like to have one of your favorite bands sell out like nothing I've ever seen (except: Metallica). I've liked them (mildly) since STST and made them one of my favorite bands upon WTF. Back then they still had questionable attire and and face makeup, but at least it was never over the top. Back then they didn't release music videos with redneck muscle cars with batwings on it. Back then they routinely communicated with their fans, and seemed very true towards the small scene and crowd they were in. And back then, M. Shadows actually had a nice voice.
Whatever. I'll listen to their album which I find great, but never hype about the band again. Until they redeem themselves and stop posturing around with excessive makeup, retarded videos and demeaning appearances on TRL.

Anyway, onto a more mature conversation, who would you guys like to see a7x tour with later this year? Shadows said they're gonna do a co-headlining tour later this year but he didn't say what band it was.
A tour with Dream Theater would be immense. I know A7X are huge DT fans, and Mike Portnoy is a big A7X fan. I doubt theres much chance of it happening though, I just sure as hell hope its not HIM.

I disagree that they have sold out, if they were selling out they would have released an album of an "in" kind of music e.g. emo-pop album like MCR.
But they didn't, they changed their sound and released a adventurous album that has surprisingly brought them a lot of success.
And if the oppurtunity came for an artist to appear on MTV and make a high-budget video, while still playing the music they love, who seriously wouldn't do it.

I think you have to gety used to their sound first before you buy STST. It was the 2nd album by them i bought and it initally took me by suprise at how raw it was.
COE tends to ease people to the A7X sound, Waking the Fallen is a little more erm... i don't know how to put this... erm... for the slightly more advanced A7X fan while STST you have to be really used to their style of music imo before you can really listen to it.

Nah Art of Subconcious Illusion was my first A7X song and that was after City of Evil came out. But I advised getting City of Evil because the guy above liked Bat Country.

I'm gonna have to watch it a little later. I'm sure it was great though.
Anything new in here?

He does a pretty sick scream in Beast and the Harlot... maybe he'll chuck in a few more in the up and coming tour.
Ah first post in here. I'm not a huge fan, but I'll admit everything I've heard of theirs is really awesome. I really like the songs Chapter Four and Burn it Down, so which album do I get first?

Which do you prefer of the two songs you mentioned? Waking the Fallen and City of Evil are both incredible albums, but very different. You can't go wrong with either though.

I almost bought WTF on Boxing day. I'm disapoited that I didn't because the Coheed & Cambria CD sucked major balls. I definately have to get it now. So what's this I hear about a new album this year or is it just a stupid rumor?

If there is any band that I cannot stand based on soley vocals, it's Coheed and Cambria. Ugh, the vocalist in that band is laughably high pitched. My group of friends use that band as a huge inside joke.
The more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it more and more. Seventh Trumpet is my favorite Avenged cd.

I don't mind his vocals. They're not as high as they have been on this CD. I bought it after hearing Welcome Home. That song is amazing, but it's too bad no other songs sound like it on the CD.

The first time I heard a song by Coheed and Cambria I thought it was Avril Lavigne or something.

Well...I leave tomorrow morning to make the seven hour journey to the A7X concert tomorrow night. As I understand it, I should have some pretty good seats, so I'll try to sneak in a camera or something for you guys.

I'm a little worried that Shadow's voice is getting more and more nasal and odd sounding. Judging from a few live performences i've seen. I was thinking it would go in the opposite direction. I hope he's not more nasal on the next CD, and he could loose the odd accents he occasionally puts on for brief sections. His voice sounds so raw live too, which I can't decide whether it's good or bad. He sounds alright in places though. (Before anyone starts, I like CoE and WTF about equally.)
Oh well.
