If anyone cant be bothered to check the link... they are making a sequel to AvP after the... *ahem*... SUCCESSFUL first film.
Now, I'd LIKE to hope that they're going to be smart, and wont screw it up by giving it to Anderson. But, then again, let me pick out this one paragraph...
"In the new Alien vs. Predator they will finally actually really come to our world," said Rothman. The previous Alien and Predator movies took place in the future, and Alien vs. Predator took place in a remote Antarctic location, though in modern times. The new film could bridge the gap between all the movies and the two horror film franchises, Rothman said.
Right. So as far as I can see, the guy in charge of this project hasn't even seen Predator 2.
Whoever wins, we loose indeed.
(apologies if this has already been posted, i couldn't find it.)

I thought A vs P was pretty cool.

AvP was ridiculous, especially when the Pred starting working with the woman, come on!

As long as there's more predators; only having around three, then killing two of them off within minutes of each other is rediculous.
I thought they did a good job with the CG effects, but the story was generic. Perhaps seeing predator take on bootleggers wouldn't be so bad an idea?

It's not the idea that i'm worried about, it's how it's going to be done. After seeing AvP, and Alien Ressurection (actually, after nearly all of the films i'd been waiting for since i was a kid... *cough* Star Wars *cough* ) get butchered, I feel like rolling into a ball when they talk about making another film.
Especially when they say that the last one was successfull...
And when the director talks about it being the first to appear on "our world". AvP was on "our world", but in Antarctica. I'll allow that. But Predator 2? It's in LA, 1995 or whenever it was made. When film-makers start believing themselves to be being origional, and showing how little they actually know the old series... i get very worried.

I never saw the first one, but a lot of people told me that they never really showed a whole Alien or Predator. So maybe this time they'll use modern technology. I'll get it out of library next time I'm there.

I didn't see it, and I don't suppose I will. I dunno, though...
This is the bad thing about the film business. Think about it, most films that come in series' can be fulfilled in one movie, the first. Think of Friday the Thirteenth. Think of Nightmare on Elm Street. Halloween. So on, so forth. The only reason those movies were made over and over again with new sequels and so on, was because of the amount of money they grossed. It's like TV. If a show's popular, even if it's bad, they'll make a new one. Reality TV, anyone?
