Everything is looking pretty sharp. I don't plan on getting the console, however, I appreciate its contribution to every single step in advancing to a next-generation console.

I said the exact same thing. The premier is so dumb. Its like, they showed liek 3 minutes of stuff on xbox and then the killers played? wtf is this? and PLEASE dont tell me that tony hawk game is "next-gen" it looked like crap imo. Madden looked pretty good, but that couldve been a video render and the racing game looked like GT4/Forza graphics enhanced a little bit. Nothing revolutionary imo.

Well, give the console a few months after, and you're guaranteed to see a definite improvement in graphics as games progress. That's kind of a given, though. It applies for all consoles.

I sure hope so, I'm not impressed at all. At best it looked like current pc games. If they release this in november-december they better fix all of the framerate drops and uninspired models.

Is this new Xbox going to be backwards compatible?
The more expensive model will be, there are supposedly going to be three different models, one will be a basic no frills, the medium will have a hard drive and backwards-compatability, and the third will be a media station, supposedly.
The games looked pretty decent imo.

PS3 is going to be way better, but since it doesn't have the Halo series on its side...they need to make a sweet game for it.

I hope there's the three versions. I want the hard drive and backwards compatability, I have no interest at all in WebTv or whatever that extra add-on is.

The more I hear about this, the less interested I am. To me it sounds like an ordinary Xbox but with better graphics and a few extra non-game related things tagged on.
Would people not be happier if they could just carry on playing games on their current console rather than have to buy a new one for a minor upgrade?

Whether you like it or not, eventually these two things will evolve and become one thing. Give it 10 years.
I could care less the type of medium, since I care about games. As long as companies can deliver fun games for me, then i'm fine. I treat my games like I treat my movies.

Jupiter Research projects that by 2010, Xboxes will make up 38% of the game consoles, topping PlayStation's 32% share.
-XBox 360 will be running on a 3.2 gighertz processor, which would make it the faster than any home PC on the market.
-It will include a water based cooling system, seen only on higher end PCs
-the new console can act as a home entertainment hub, streaming pictures, music and video from digital cameras, portable music players and computers that run Microsoft Windows XP.
-It comes with a wireless conroller right out of the box
-The hard drive can be removed, upgraded and interchanged with other 360 consoles.
-Some industry analysts and game developers said it was likely that games for all three consoles would increase to $60 or $65;
I don't know how much of this was already known, but basically this is the coolest machine ever made. Screw the Revolution, screw the PS3, they can't be better than this.

I might buy it, thought it depends. The only launch title i'd buy it for is Halo 3 if it comes with the launch, though eventually i'll buy it since BioWare is doing another game for it, and Kotor 3 will likely be released on it (whoever does it).

it has 3 USB ports which means you could use a mouse and keyboard with it, nay? Also, like the whole thing is wireless which is a plus. I really want to hear from Nintendo because the GC was kind of a flop, it was cool at first but when Sony and Microsoft went online, the GC just failed. This year I think they're going to do something big...they're going to drop der stuka on us. Or it will just suck.

They obviously ripped the design for the controler from the PS2 controler. Plus the system being able to stand vertically.

I'm ok, the 360 is going to be bought, because it looks amazing and is out for xmas, which suits me fine.
And then the Ps3 and the Revolution will be both out within a couple of months of each other, so i will get the Revolution, as the Ps3 won't be hugely different to the 360 and the revolution should be, and i'm an avid Nintendo fan.

I would get the Revolution and the 360 too- if I were to get 2 consoles. Revo for Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc and 360 for Perfect Dark 0. There are no games on the PS that really interest me.

The Ps3 is supposed to outpower the 360 significantly, and no one really knows what other features it will have.
I for one will be buying the Ps3 and probably the Revolution further down the track if it is what some of the rumours have said it is.
I honnestly can't see why everyone is so amazed by the X360, most of the impressive screenshots are with the resolution beefed up, and will not be seen in game. Besides that all it will have is a slightly upgraded version of Xbox live, wireless controllers (which no doubt the Ps3 and Revolution will both have) and a controller that is more similiar to the Ps2 Duel Shock controller.
Rancid Dan
05-15-2005, 05:32 AM
I don't particularly care if the PS3 outpowers the 360.
I am getting the 360 because it's out for xmas and there are a lot of games i want for it.
The xbox and the GC outpower the PS2 but that doesn't stop the PS2 from being your favourite.
Think about it early next year, you will be playing your PS2 while i will be enjoying next-gen games.
