View Full Version : 1969 Fender Jazz Bass

Body wood: Alder
Neck wood: Maple
Fretboard wood: Rosewood
# of Frets: 20
Neck/Body Joint: 4 Bolt
Pickups: 2 Basslines Quarter Pounders
Controls: 2 volume, 1 tone
Bridge: Fender
Tuners: Fender

This one is a bit different from my 76 Jazz, which is why I bought it. The most noticable difference is the rosewood fretboard. Other differences are an alder body, color and pickups. There is one difference not visually noticable, but sonically noticable. The bridge pickup is a bit further away from the bridge on this one. In 71/72 Fender changed the bridge pickup location, moving it a bit closer to the bridge. They changed it back in 83 or 84. Seeing as this ones bridge pickup is a bit further from the bridge it gives a bit mellower tone. It still growls nicely, but also yields smoother tones than the 76.

They're pretty good. They're a bit more modern sounding than the Lindy Fralins in my other Jazz Bass.
