I'm sure I'm not the only person who sucks at compters, so now we can come to the geeks of the forum for help.

I'm trying to connect an older video camera up to a computer via A/V jacks using Windows Movie Maker. When I go to record it off of the camera, the preview screen stays blue. Anyone have any ideas why this isn't working? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Crossed wires? Check them maybe. Possibly update the drivers on your graphics card?

Did your video camera come with any sort of software or usb/firewire connection? Since it's old I should assume no.

I checked the wires over and over again, and each time they were in the right holes. The drivers should be fine because the computer is only about 4 months old, and since the camera is probably about 4-5 years old, so I don't think that would be a problem. Unfortunately, the only plugs in the camera are these A/V holes, a headphone jack, and a mic jack. I don't think it matters, but the A/V jacks are just a yellow video hole and a black audio port.

I usually just hit mine a few times, then it starts working

Seriously though, I dont think you can hook that up through A/V, you could try to find an adapter. A/V in, USB out. That might work but im not positive.

Its a brand new Media Center computer. This is what's its made for, so it has AV ports on it.
