does anyone else feel that they haven't experianced enough life outside of a standard middle class lifestyle to write a haldf decent song that doesn't sound like a lot of imagery and nothing else?
forgive me if this has been done before

What are you gonna do? Neg rep me? Like anyone even cares.
I get that alot, and i dont want to write about stuff i havnt experienced. But go back to basics find something you care about and write. Its easier to say that than to do it i realise, but its the only way.

In my opinion you can make poetry/lyrics amazing using some of the worst subject matter. It's all about how you portray the meaning and the language you use.
A decent writer can amaze you by writing about nothing whilst the most heartfelt writing of a poor writer can bore you.
In the end all that matters i that you like your writing and feel it is written to the best of your ability.

I feel that way all the time. Just think of something you have experience with, and strong spiritual or emotional attachment to and write a song about it. It doesn't have to be great, just keep writing until you find your niche.

I've never felt that way. I love the variety of songs I've written and what they stand for. I feel I write about different subjects and I don't get caught up on relationships songs, bad or good. Although I do have a few of those songs. I enjoy writing songs about experiences from my life. I also enjoy taking "inspiration" from real events in my life but taking them a step further and putting more into it than what actually happened. People do it in memoirs all the time, nothing wrong with it. My favorite lines are lines that come out of a friends mouth during a conversation. They have no idea that they've just gave me the inspiration to write my next song. Sorry, I wrote so much, I get excited when I talk about writing songs.

Just write about suicide - it's what most people on here do in your situation... :P
In seriousness - any of the above advice is good...
