I got Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables after it came top of the poll in this forum for the best punk album of all time, and I liked it more than I thought it would do...they're definitely a band that I'd like to hear more by.If you liked FFFRV (amnd let's face it, who doesn't?) It's probbbly best get Plastic Surgery Disasters w/ In God We Trust Inc. PSD is quite similar to the style of FFFRV in parts (although there are some much longer songs) and IGTWI is very thrashy.

99% of them. Some other members wrote some songs. Off the top of my head Klaus wrote Dog Bite and 6025 wrote Religious Vomit. Plus he didn't write the covers they did, like Rawhide.

No he didn't. Most of them were collaborations when he wrote the lyrics and then hummed the riffs into a tape recorder and the band wrote the actual music from his tapes. Some songs were written by other members of the band entirely eg Dead End and At My Job by East Bay Ray, Hellnation by DH or Religious Vomit by 6025

Jello wrote songs witha notepad and a tape recorder. He'd hum the riffs into the tape recorder and then the band would come upwith the riffs based on the tapes. They both relied on each other. Whats everyones take on the Bedtime for Democracy album. I recently bought it and I know alot of people seem to think its their weakest effort. I think its just as good if not better lyricially than some of their other releases although maybe not quite as solid musicially overall as some previous efforts.

The point about DK is they were great because of the brilliant music as well as the brilliant lyrics. Jello's later work often has very good lyrics but without the excellent music it's not as good. Bedtime has a couple good songs, but I'm not as impressed with it. That and Give Me... are the only albums I don't actually own, mainly because I can't find them anywhere.

I do prefer bootlegs over albums sometimes because they are great live, especially Jello's rants in between songs. The Oregon show is the best to watch because Jello is so animated throughout the whole thing. He makes fun of Ray a couple times because he has to tune up off stag when his guitar breaks, which is where Jello does Night of the Living Rednecks.

I would go see the new DK if they ever came back to the bay area, which I doubt they will seeing as they will shunned by their fans for being without Jello. I really want to watch Ray play, even though he is rarley very animated, since he left it all to Jello. I wonder if Penalty can match him, probably not, he does a poor job in the vocal department from the bootleg I have.

They could attempt to write new songs and put out a new album, but it would probably get the same reception as the new Misfits, a really bad one. I don't think Penalty or any of the old members have the song writing ability of Jello. I man the crown achievement of Klaus' song writing was Dog Bite.

Then on Slsk I just started searching "Dead Kennedys" and weeding through all the regular albums to find any bootlegs I don't have. It's ok, and intresting to see them recording. But the songs aren't much different, because those were the ones put on the reissue. The live clips they did were really intresting.


I have also noticed while listening to bootlegs, in some versions of "Holiday in Cambodia" Jello will say "blacks" instead of "******s", and intresting tidbit.
