Today I made a simple passive mixer.

It mixes the outputs from my PODxt, Laney preamp and Marshall 9001 valve preamp into one out, which I can put into the poweramp section of my Laney.

I made it stereo too, so when I get my rack poweramp I can run my PODxt, Marshall 9001 and another preamp together.

I bought all the parts from Maplins yesterday, and it took about 45 minutes to make.

Total Cost £8.77

I ain't been able to run two at once yet, It *might* have phase problems, but it probably wont.

Exact duplicate as in the Guitar Thread, thought you guys might be interested too.

very nice. Pity not have some variable 'stors on there though for the levels

based on its intended purpose, he should be ok.

Hey, i was wondering if this type of mixer would be suitable for mixing a few mics (for drums), then running through a preamp then into the computer???
As i do not have an actual mixer

And i dont mind if recording quality isnt perfect

I'm assuming that the only problems would be varying levels between each mic? Could i make something which has a level knob for each input?

Could anyone provide me with a link of how to build one of these things?

i don't imagine it would be too hard to put levels on it, which would be absolutely necessary. i don't think you'd be able to use condensers, though. i don't know how phantom power would work.

actually, phantom power is (relatively) simple in design too. It's making good-sounding pre-amps that would be the killer. I suppose technically you could just buy preamps/phantom power sources and use a line mixer like this w/ a pot modification to get a simple mixer design, but unless you really want to learn about the process too, buying is cheaper and easier.
