:smash: hi i was wondering if i would be able to use the speakers off of my stereo for moniters? as i cant afford proper ones at the moment

from my understanding, you could, but they wouldn't be much good, as they're not balanced properly for monitoring. I'd recommend saving up for a monitor. Moaner, KKKKocaine or Aes would be better placed to give you a definite answer though.

You should be able to, it won't sound great though and it won't be very accurate, but it's better than nothing at all.

the frequency response won't be neutral (flat) and therefore your mixes will be innacurate. IMO, you can use them for anything but the final mix-down, for which you should use some good cans.

their bass response is simply laughable, and there lies the main problems.
a pair of closed back headphones (even not specific studio monitoring ones) would be better. NOT in ear headphones tho, they'd be considerably worse.

Headphones give a very different sound to speakers so you really need to mix on both.
You can boost your bass power by sticking the speakers in the corners of the room facing away from the corner.
