What i'll do is name a team, state their best ofseason aqquisition and the dparture that will hurt the team the most. Then you guys discuss and tell me your opinion of their best offseason moves and hopefully this thread will become big.
I'll add a new team alphabetically every 2-3 days or so. :D

Are you gonna name a team or should i guess?

First team is the AZ CArdinals.
Best Offseason Aqquisition: Kurt Warner. There has been instability at the QB position ever since Jake Plummer left. I think that with this new aqquisition it will give a chance for their young recievers Antoin boldin and Larry Fitzgerald to thrive.
Departure that Will Hurt The Most: Emmit Smith. He led the cardinals in rushing last year with his best season since leaving Dallas. Marcel Shipp will have some pretty big shoes to fill.

*Anquan Boldin
I love him, but I don't think losing Emmit will hurt them that much. I like J.J. Arrington, and I think he'll be able to step in and start and do well.
I like how the Cowboys signed Emmit Smith so he can retire a Cowboy. :)

Arizona Cardinals
Best Acquisition: Antrell Rolle - He'll step in and be their #1 cornerback right away. I think he could easily have a rookie season like Terrance Newman had two years ago.
Worst Loss: Emmitt Smith - He might have started this year if he stayed, but even if he was JJ Arrington's backup, he could still be a great teacher for Arrington. Anytime the top rusher in NFL history leaves your team, it hurts.

No, No it's not, There both talking about the offseason and their losses and gains, use that thread instead of making new ones.

I think the cardinals draft picks were probably a much better acquisition than Kurt, unless you're not counting draftees.

Best Offseason aqquisition: Ronnie Heard- May not sound like that good of a pick, but his 6 years of experience should help a strugglind defense that finished 22nd in the league in pass yards allowed.
Departure that will hurt the most: Travis Hall- Has 42 sacks with the team and 329 tackles. Will definately hurt the already struggling Falcon defense.

Best Offseason Aqquisition: Ken Lucas CB- Should help out the 18th ranked pass defense in 2005.
Departure that will hurt the most: Mushin Muhammed WR- Had a great career witht he Panthers and was their primary reciever. Should hurt their pass offense greatly.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Ronnie Heard is horrible.

The Pats didn't lose anyone important this offseason, actually. And while I wasn't initially thrilled with their draft, this is Bill freaking Belichick we're talking about here; at least three or four of the players taken will play a big role on the team next year.

The Falcons best aquisition was definetly Ed Hartwell. Withough having to play in the shadow of Ray Lewis, he'll be a sure-fire Pro Bowler.

Best Acquisition: Lamont Jordan - The obvious pick here would be Randy Moss, and strictly from a talent viewpoint, its the right choice. But I'm worried about Moss's attitude, and Jordan is the bruising running back the Raiders needed. Wheatley couldnt get the job done, but I think Jordan will. Hes been one of the best backup running backs in the league for a few years now.
Biggest Loss: Napoleon Harris - This came down to Harris, Rich Gannon, and Phil Buchanon. Gannon and Buchanon have replacements, whereas Harris was the teams best linebacker in a weak group. Antajj Hawthorne might be able to replace him eventually, but I dont know about this season.

Hawthorne is a defensive tackle, not a linebacker.

Ty Law, Troy Brown ... O coordinatop and D coordinator plus Teddy Bruschi ? those seem like big losses to me
Illmatic
05-04-2005, 03:55 PM
We won something like 11 games without Ty Law last year, which includes the postseason. He's expendable.
I love Troy Brown to death, but he was very overpaid for a guy who was a nickelback, slot reciever, and punt returner.
We can't rule out Bruschi quite yet.
Yes, Weis and Crennel were great coordinators, but Belichick has recruited guys in-house to replace them, so there won't be a staggering dropoff.
I think what you're forgetting is that this is Bill freaking Belichick we're talking about here. I'd more than give him the benefit of the doubt.

Oh I thought it said ILB as his position on draft day. Maybe I got him confused with someone else. Oh well.

H was overpaid for what he did ??.... He played every position he was asked and was amaznig at it. He was a great at CB he has great hand and good punt ability I think it was a loss they should have negotiated his contract .. But you are right about Ty Law but he is still 2nd best Cb in the Nfl behind Champ Bailey ... Oh you guys also lost Andruzzi ... im intrested to see how they do
Illmatic
05-05-2005, 02:49 PM
Brown was set to make 5-plus million dollars this year. That's overpaid.
And we lost Joe Andruzzi? Oh no! Not him! Our dynasty will crumble the ground now!

Sorry, but no one else is really doing anything, so I just went ahead and did my favorite team. Its not gonna break anything.
And to whoever said Champ Bailey was the best cornerback in the league....you have to be kidding. With the 5-yard rule, he cant stop anyone. I dont know who the best CB is, but its not Bailey.
Illmatic
05-05-2005, 04:27 PM
The new five-yard thing has thrown the public's perception of cornerbacks out of whack. Which is good because guys like Bailey and Law and Charles Woodson were coasting by on reputation, mostly because no one can be bothered to watch cornerbacks enough to judge.

The Patriots just signed Chad Brown, so losing Bruschi isn't that much of a problem.

I love the fact that they signed him to a 2 year deal..hilarious.
He will be a good fit, but why did they waste their cap room on a LB? They have plenty of LB's.
