Hey guys, i would appreciate if you listened to us and told me what you think. Our name is Desired Affliction and we are a metal/metalcore/deathmetal band or whatever you want to call us. I know that some of the instrument levels are off, like the vocals are too quiet, bass drum a little too loud, and i'm not sure what else. We didn't have much time to record this, so it's not that great. Listen to the song "Without You" cause that's the new one that we just recorded. Also, I recorded the vocals and I'm not normally the singer, I play bass for the band. Thanks.

Yeah ok, thanks for the constructive criticism. I should have known that there would be people like you making comments like that cause that's about all i see here. Can anyone give us some useful criticism? Preferably someone that is actually into our type of music.

i like metalcore
constructive critisism:
your songs - the riffs are nice but the songs feel like they're missing something. maybe if i were to see yall play live, this would sound much better, but on tape, your songs have no energy. i can't figure out whats missing. the vocals are nice, the riffs are nice, and the beats kick ***, but somethings not there. the song is almost too straightforward, you dont bring anything new to the table that most bands haven't already done many times before. but i dont like telling people what to do, im just constructively critiscising.

I know what it's missing. Melody. I had the same problem with my band (http://www.purevolume.com/chickenbyrd). Those songs were written in about two days, and guess what - they came out bland. Even though you may sound solid, if theres nothing exciting going on in the song...something to catch people on, to stimulate their ears, then it's boring. I do hear a little note changing going on starting at about 1:10, and thats a start.

You guys play metalcore, listen to unearth (new unearth). Listen to Black hearts now reign, even the intro is melodic. I can hum the tune in my head. Unearth is a perfect example of how melody should be integrated. Change chords, use progressions, add some lead guitar parts. That should drastically improve what you're doing.

i think it's too repetitive
old slipknot would be very repetitive if it wasnt for joey
my opinion is that you need more lead style drumming instead of a simple beat
unfortunately there just aint owt special in this band
i'd downtune your guitars really low or play every gig naked to have somethin origonal

actually dont play it naked (just saw pic on purevolume)

I like the riffs, but the recording is really bad.

Well thanks alot for the constructive criticism. I agree that the songs are missing the energy that they have when we play live. The recordings aren't that great, but the new song sounds the best so far. And i do listen to Unearth and stuff like that which is one of our influences. I think that we are doing pretty good for our skill levels, we have not been playing for all that long.

I also find that my band has more energy live. My theory is that people don't really listen to notes or melody when hearing it live, but on the recordings they do.

Yeah, that could be a possibility.
