It is an awesome bass for 200$. It comes in black, red, and blue. I have a black one and I love it. It is a great first bass.

I guess they have some out now with 4 knobs. I have one with 3 knobs.

I have a black GSR200, that I got as my first bass. Very solid, quite versatile for the amount you pay. Definitely good value for money. My only gripe is that the passive tone control has a terrible sound.

I still have mine, but I defretted it.

Other then that, it's been a good bass.

(The GSR 190 comes with the Ibanez JumpStart Bass package, I don't think you can just buy it straight. Maybe that's what Corte is getting off of e-bay or something?)

My first bass was a GSR, old-school style with the passive electronics. It works fine, and is an excellent bass to start out on, but I would move on to a higher quality bass as soon as you know that you're sticking with it and get enough money. The tone is thin compared to the rest of my basses, and I had to shim the pickups to get enough output, but other than that it's been flawless. I think I may have had to resolder the input jack once, but I'm not sure. The finish accumulates scratches easily, but it protects the wood very well. A good value, and excellent beginner axe.

I love the gsr200. It feels good to play and one of the best beginner basses around. The only problem is is that the action on the G string is very high, and iv'e noticed this on other gsr200's as well.

I love my GSR200. I just started learning bass the end of my senior year of highschool and i wanted to pick something cheap up and i settled on this one. I also have 2 friends using a GSR, one has the same one as mine and another i met in engineering class that has a GSR205 i believe, and they both love theirs. Pretty well made and sounds great for 200 bucks.

The RBX 170 was my first bass...what a coincidence...but to me any Ibanez is better than a yamaha...but we aint here about yamaha are we?

i have the gsr200fm its slightly more expensive like 50 bucks more but i think its bassicly the same quality. Its a great bass very good quality for the price great starter

I have a gsr200 with phat eq good to start it's lasted along time gets kinda fuzzy but its great for begginers

I have a GSR200, it's a great bass guitar. My only problem is that I have some bad fret buzz on the first 2-3 frets on the D & G strings, but I might get my friend who knows a hell of a lot more about basses than me to fix that lol.

I just got one as a spare bass/kick around axe for $139 used. It stays in tune well enough and works. It really does benefit from refitting the bridge pickup with a better alnico one, though. Easy and cheap upgrade.(you will need a bit of careful routing and/or Dremel work though to fit the larger pickup in the same spot)

Something like this - worlds better than the crummy stock pickup. This isn't a 60 pickup, but is a cheap fix for the weak bottom end.

As for Yamaha, I found it to be a bit like a Kung-Fu movie training exercise. You know the one where the guy has to stand on the pole for 20 hours or jump 1000 times in a row... The action is a mile high and very stiff. Like a Kung-Fu training exercise for your fingers. It really isn't that good for beginners, IMO, compared to the Ibanez or the budget Schecters.

AND the GSRs come in lefty. Nothing else in this price range really does, so it's a clear win for those of us who don't want to play right-handed. ie - why compromise and learn right-handed when there IS a choice out there that won't break your bank?

cause action can't be adjusted. What makes the action "stiff?"

It's the way the bridge is and the whole setup - it's a mile high even at its lowest setting. It *is* in tune, though, so if you have extra strong fingers, it's fine to play. But it's not nearly as nice as even the cheap Ibanez models, which play quite well for being cheap imported stuff.

Though, if I had $300-$400, I'd find a basic Spector on sale. :)
