I have the following:

along with a bass amp, guitar amp, bass, guitar, effects pedal, drums, and a handful of cables (including one that can connect the line-out of the PA mixer to the PC mic socket in the sound card). When I go to record after hooking things up, I open audacity and set it to "microphone." When I turn on the PA and the mic and hit record and start singing, nothing gets recorded. I also tried the same, except I selected to use line-in, and again, nothing was recorded. Do I have things plugged in wrong?

quite possibly.

you want the line out of the PA amp plugged in to the line in of your PC.. with the PA speakers still plugged in.

check all the volume levels, inc input gain, master on the p mixer and input volume on the pc.

I thought line-in and the PC mic socket were the same thing?

line in has much greater sensitivity

So they aren't the same thing?

Then which one is line-in?

i beleive its blue, as opposed to the mic in which is red.
