Sims 2 Help

I just got the Sims 2, installed it, and now when I click the icon and run it, it just has the big Sims 2 logo, etc. on the desktop, and then does nothing. Just covers the middle of me screen. What is going on?

Now, it just gave me a Microsoft Error. :-|

maybe your comp is so full of stuff that its slows down the loading process.....and the error happens then something like slow loading a game that big comes up
