say what your fav one is and what the plot is. :thumb:
one of my fav. animation movies of all time was AKIRA. and this is the plot.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Artist-writer Katsuhiro Ôtomo began telling the story of Akira as a comic book series in 1982 but took a break from 1986 to 1988 to write, direct, supervise, and design this animated film version. Set in 2019, the film richly imagines the new metropolis of Neo-Tokyo, which is designed from huge buildings down to the smallest details of passing vehicles or police uniforms. Two disaffected orphan teenagers--slight, resentful Tetsuo and confident, breezy Kanada--run with a biker gang, but trouble grows when Tetsuo start to resent the way Kanada always has to rescue him. Meanwhile, a group of scientists, military men, and politicians wonder what to do with a collection of withered children who possess enormous psychic powers, especially the mysterious, rarely seen Akira, whose awakening might well have caused the end of the old world. Tetsuo is visited by the children, who trigger the growth of psychic and physical powers that might make him a superman or a supermonster. As befits a distillation of 1,318 pages of the story so far, Akira is overstuffed with character, incident, and detail. However, it piles up astonishing set pieces: the chases and shootouts (amazingly kinetic, amazingly bloody) benefit from minute cartoon detail that extends to the surprised or shocked faces of the tiniest extra; the Tetsuo monster alternately looks like a billion-gallon scrotal sac or a Tex Avery mutation of the monster from The Quatermass Experiment; and the finale--which combines flashbacks to more innocent days with a destruction of Neo City and the creation of a new universe--is one of the most mind-bending in all sci-fi cinema

When it's narrowed down to movies:
'Akira' and 'Ghost in the Shell'
Whe it includes series as well:
add 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' to the above

The exact same as mine! Damrod... you have great taste in anime. Mind you, NGE can be counted as a film it you also include death & rebirth.

NGE is quite possibly the best anime ever. Akira is ok as a movie, the mangas were better. I liked Wonderful Days alot as well, even though it was not "technically" anime.

Cool, nice one! :thumb:
But generally, I always had the feeling it was more designed as a episode orinetated format. And 'Death & Rebirth' only the movie lenght feature of it. Anyways, whatever ones view is (movie or series) NGE is one of the best :)

If you're looking for a NGE movie, The End of Evangelion is. Either you'll like it like I do or dismiss it as boring crap.

Neon Genesis Evengelion: End of Evangelion is a great movie. But if you havent watched the series, it really wont make much sense.
I haven't seen the Cowboy Bebop movie, but if its anything like the series, I'm sure it must be good.

i thought akira was a god? and the scientists inserted some part of him into the 3 children ? same with tetsuo?..........
Voices Of a distant star (romance / sci fi)
made by : makoto shinkai
running time : half an hour
story :
it's about a young couple which got seperated because the girl was selected to fight in space.( i never figure out why in anime kids are the fighters) so in space she drifts futher from earth and maintains her age but the guy gets older (physics stuff dont ask),and they keep in touch only via sms.
the reason why it's good is because everything was made by one guy (shinkai ) the effects, animation ,art work......except for the voicing cause the distributor company changed it.although the story is simple it is very emotional and there is a new style of story telling in it,all of this in half an hour. this is one of my favourite animes of all time, really good
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
grave of the fireflys
made by : studio ghibli ( cant remember how you spell that name, but it's the people who brought us princess monokoe and spirited away)
story : set in WW II , it's about the survival of a brother and sister by themselves because their parents died and their aunties family steals their food..........soo they shift out to a cave and settle there

Even more nasty when you consider that the jizz got there when Ichi was whacking off over a woman being beaten up by her pimp.

That Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie was getting pretty weird. Especially when she turned into a high performance car. The movie wasn't so bad though, I thought the dancing on the dueling arena was kinda sweet.

There's the cult classic Neon Genesis Evangelion, it is one of the greatest series.
Then you can branch out into Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040, Gasaraki, Perfect Blue, Boogiepop Phantom, and Revolutionary Girl Utena.

But ya, I loved gundam wing to, I have endless waltz but, the whole "we don't needa fight this war blah blah blah we don't want soldiers dying for nothing yadda yadda yadda" constant dialouge is the movies only downfall.

My brother and I started watching Witch Hunter Robin, it's turning to be quite interesting. I have seen the first 5 episodes, I had to stop at 3 because I had work.
From what I saw it seems like it'll be a good series, what I like about Robin is that she's not the typical 15 year old, she's quite reserved and quiet. At least, from what I've seen so far.
