Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Kiss, Def Leppard... They're a yes for me. Else than that, Im not a big fan.
Twisted Sister are cool.
Trash-era Alice Cooper blows goats, that part of his career really sucks.
I saw The Dogs D'Amour open for Alice in 2002, they sucked.
I also saw The Renegade Playboys open for Dragonforce last year, they sucked and looked like they were trying really hard to be cool.
I saw The Dogs D'Amour open for Alice in 2002, they sucked.
You suck. They ownnn
You suck. They ownnn
They suck, I own.
They're weren't suited for the NEC at all.
Glam, on the most part is poo.
The more it tries to be inventive, the more it goes back on itself.
Hanoi Rocks being at least a decent Glam Rock band, and some others, Motley Crue, for example, being an absolute abysmal piece of poo.
At least they were decadent poo
Does anyone else think Michael Monroe looks like a Sparrow?

I'll admit that there was alot of crap around in this era, but the highlights for me were, Motley Crue (most notably the albums Shout At The Devil, Dr. Feelgood and their self titled album), Van Halen (most of their material is excellent. Yes including Hagar era), Skid Row, Warrant, Hanoi Rocks and Posion (to some extent).

You've missed out most of the orignal glam rock bands, you;v emainly only included the 80's glam rock movement..People like Queen, T-Rex, David Bowie (During the Ziggy Stardust period) were all very influentail glam rock bands during the 70's..I love Alice Cooper perosnally, one of my favorite artists of all time. Queen of course are amazing!! Mott The Hoople were also great at one point, a very underrated band...Mud, Iggy Pop, Suade are also decent bands but not my favorites!
I misspelt the title, it was supposed to be The Glam/Hair Metal Thread

Is it safe to define glam rock as rock in which the musicians dress in flaming clothes? It seems that people are lumping Motley Crue with The New York Dolls, two bands who have substantially different sounds. What is glam rock exactly?

I posted this in the Guns N' Roses thread, but it equally belongs here.
OK, I have a real treat for you all. This is a performance of Tijuana Jail from Gilby's 99 Live album, featuring Tracii Guns on guitar. Look out for the extended guitar duels, the surprisingly good drum solo and a guest appearance by a certain AFD-era Guns song. Enjoy. :)

Unlike most musical genres, it's more about the look than the sound.

I haven't but will check them out.
Has anyone heard of Steelheart. They were a late 80's early 90's glam band that had at least one good cd which was produced by Bruce Dickinson. Their singer is great and he sang some of the tunes for Steel Dragon in rockstar. They had a ballad which is almost a ballad of all ballads called She's gone. I recommend you check them out.

Does anyone have any Loud N Nasty songs? They're not on Limewire or BT and I desperately need a few to fill out tomorrow night's playlist (I'll post it here in an hour or so)

My moms favorite band is def leppard so i heard a lot of them when i was young. In fact my parents when i was a baby, they would listen to music as i was going to sleep, and they would have the volume like all the way up, and my room was right next to the wall that the stereo was behind. Now noises don't bug me when i am trying to go to sleep because i am so used to it.

I was looking in my garage through all these old vinyl albums and i found a huge Glam / Hair Metal section.
I found :
KISS : Creatures of the night, Asylum, Lick it Up, Revenge, Hot in the shade
Poison : Open up and say ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
Def Leppard : Hysteria
Cindarella : Night Songs
Alice Cooper : Love it to death, Pretties for you, Alice Cooper goes to hell, Lace and Whiskey, Billion Dollar Babies, Hey Stoopid, Trash, Welcome to my Nightmare, Easy Action, Muscle of Love, Schools Out, From the Inside, Killer, Fistful of Alice, The Alice Cooper Show.
Frehley's Comet : Second Sighting
Ace Frehley : Trouble Walkin'
Van Halen : s/t, 1984
And i found a ton of old posters from the 70's and 80's of :
Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, KISS, Taime Downe, Nikki Sixx, Jizzy Pearl, Jani Lane, Joey Allen, Sebastian Bach, Ratt, Winger, Alice Cooper
Trash and Hysteria are awesome.

Its a good enough album, more Dogs D'amour than Hanoi I feel. But the thing which made their last 'new' album (Twelve Shots on the Rocks, 2003) amazing was it could easily have been recorded in 1984. This one sounds pretty modern.

I don't know much about the Wembley Pavillion. Its basically all the seats from the arena...in the carpark. I remember back inside the area it was all tiered, but I have no idea what it'll be like. Im wondering why KISS hasn't been mentioned much. They are pretty much glam rock, and being this is the glam rock thread, im still wondering why the most influential rock band of all time hasn't been brought up much. Ya there new line up is filled with a bunch of ace and peter wannabes, but they own. They have such a bombastic show, but it couldn't even be as successful without good songs to back it up.
Doesn't matter though, cause people can like who they want. As many people who love and are obssessed with KISS, despise KISS too.
But listen to Heaven's on Fire intro, and tell me Paul Stanley's voice isn't amazing.

I don't really call GNR metal, but as for glam in general, you crossed the line. I am curious to know which bands that came before glam/hair (with the exception of Sabbath) that you would call metal.
Yeah good point. Some Metal, which you (Lets Kill God) may be a fan of, evolved from Glam, you shouldn't bash it without taking that into consideration.

Glam metal gives a metal a bad name and bands like Guns and Roses, Def Lepard and Dokken should not be called metal
Was the Bon Jovi reference intentional, or just an unfortunate irony?

I have to agree with you there. Some of their music is quite dark in places, more straight up metal as you said. However, songs like 'She Goes Down' are hair metal all the way.

It depends on what you're listening to. The first album is more power-pop with metal influence than anything. Shout was a straight-forward metal album, before they became just another glam band with Theatre Of Pain. Girls, Girls, Girls had a big rockabilly influence, then Feelgood was more of a straightforward hard rock/pop outing. MC94 was heavy metal and Generation Swine was amazing. New Tattoo wasn't.

I love hair metal! It rocks. I'm always blasting some hair metal as I'm cruising down the street on a Friday night.

I'm a big glam rock fan.
KISS, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Poison, Bon Jovi etc etc. It's all good. I also love heavier stuff like Metallica and Pantera but I have a soft spot for the 70s and 80s glam stuff too.
Hey, it's all good !

But listen to Heaven's on Fire intro, and tell me Paul Stanley's voice isn't amazing.
kiss roks, i saw them on the rock the nation tour
