Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Surrender!

You wish to surrender to me? Very well I accept.

Inigo: That Vizzini, he can fuss.
Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at us.
Inigo: Probably he means no harm.
Fezzik: He's really very short on charm.
Inigo: You have a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
Vizzini: Enough of that.
Inigo: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we'll all be dead.
Vizzini: No more rhymes now, I mean it.
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?

Inigo: You are sure nobody's follow' us?
Vizzini: As I told you, it would be absolutely, totally, and in all other ways inconceivable. No one in Guilder knows what we've done, and no one in Florin could have gotten here so fast. - Out of curiosity, why do you ask?
Inigo: No reason. It's only... I just happened to look behind us and something is there.
Vizzini: What? Probably some local fisherman, out for a pleasure cruise, at night... in... eel-infested waters...

Wesley: "True love."
Inigo: "See, he said true love, what could be a more noble cause than that?"
Miracle Max: "Ah yes, true love is the greatest ting in the woild - except for a nice MLT, mutton lettuce and tomato sandwich - when the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomato ripe and juice - ah, so perky, I love that. But that's not what he said! He said, "to blaaaave", and as we all know, to blave means to bluff, so he was probably playing cards, and he cheated, and..."
Mrs. Miracle Max: "Liar! Liaaar!"
Miracle Max: "Get back, witch!"
Mrs. Miracle Max: "I'm not a witch, I'm your wife, but after what you just said, I'm not even sure I wanna be that anymore!"

... and so on and so on.
One of the greatest movies ever.

Agreed.

"... only slightly less well known is this: never go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line!"

One of the first good comedies I saw. I absolutely love that movie so much. Just the way everyone is so calm about their situation while saying these ridiculously funny lines.

I say again, surrender!

Death first!

Oh man, I could watch that movie a million times and never get bored of it. It's a classic.

Yeah, it doesn't ring any bells from just the title, but when you look it up, you remember how good it is.

"But, how'd you make him pick the right one?"

"I didn't, I poisoned both of them, I spent the last few years building up a natural immunity to it."

"Why are you smiling?"
"Because I know something you do not... I am not left-handed!"

I absolutely love that scene. That's been a long-time favorite.

No... I'm pretty sure it's "Inigo". Why? Because he's Spanish. That solves everything.

I don't know. I've just always been sure it was "Inigo Montoya".

Still, I love this film, and conitnues to rank highly in my list of favorites.

What, to you (meaning everyone), makes this film so great?

Kinda random, but some dude in the bar tonight told me out of nowhere that I remind him of Wesley, the main character, because of my looks and demeanor. Had to share that since I saw this thread, but that's all I have to say.

Darn, I wish random people in bars would tell me that they were reminded of Wesley. He was such a cool character.

Maybe I'll just go off and watch it again, since I don't really have much to do at the moment. Yeah, I think I might just go do that.

It's Inigo. I have the book.

Likewise - it still ranks as one of my all time favourites. What makes it great? Apart from the fact that it's one of those movies I grew up on as a kid (and therefore have very fond memories of), it's just one of those movies that hits the spot.

It's got everything - fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles. It's got light-hearted and at times very funny humour all the way through, it's got magical and memorable characters - who can help but love Inigo, Fezzik, and Vizziny? I'm a fan of Peter Falk and he's just fantastic in his cameo as the grandfather. Same with Billy Crystal as Miracle Max. Characterisation is one of the most important aspects to story-telling and the Princess Bride is one of those films with great characters.

Enjoy:wave:

What makes me really enjoy it was just how random it was. Also, it has so many good quotes it's ridiculous.

It was absolutely absurd the demeanor of the people in these situations. I love the characters.
