Its like, one person with good taste in music likes a crappy band, so all of their scene minions talk about how good they are just to be more scene, thus giving the crappy band a good reputation. I dont like the term acquired taste. To me, taht means its not good, but because you listened to it so many times, it got beat through your head so now its tolerable. That doesnt mean it sounds better the more you listen to it, but it sounds less crappy because the shock factor of its crappiness wore off.

I think that's part of it, but you can grow to like things you dislike too. I used to hate all screaming, but then I got used to it, and now i like it and try to even write it into stuff I write. I think you can just get over the crapiness, or you can learn to like what you didn't before. Both happen.
