i've roughly covered all 4 pages and couldn't quite find what i was looking for so i hope no one minds if my questions have been covered before b/c they seem like the type to come into discussion regularly:

I've just started to play keys for my friends band, and he lent me his old keyboard, its a yamaha with a sustain "hole", a midi in & out, and a dc in 10-12v. i was wondering how i could amp this baby up other than mic-ing its speakers. I made a google search and it ranged from using a Bass amp modeler to um i guess using a mixer, im new to this so it isnt very clear to me, sorry. I was hoping you guys could set me straight.

My other question is What bands do you know have intricate guitar, bass, and keys. We have a singer so we can focus all we want on the musicianship. Tho bands who keep it easy are welcome too.
Has anyone ever made a list that fit my description? I'll try to start it up.

Frank Zappa
Polyphonic Spree
Beck
Stars
Arcade Fire? ehh
etc.

You need some form of audio output for that thing anything from 1/4" L/R outputs to even a headphone jack. More than likely it has a headphone jack, from that just get a y connector from the 1/8" stereo to whatever you need (ie to 2 RCA or 2 1/4" jacks). Radio Shak is your friend, you might end up getting a Y adaptor and other adaptor like RCA to 1/4 (thats what I use).

To get the output from that amplified, you can get either a keyboard amp or plug directly into your PA. I'm sure you have a mixer for your PA and you wouldnt need to spend any other money going this route. If you cant go the PA route get a Roland KC series amp, I got mine used for $200 and its 100watts and clean.

Bands with intricate guitar bass keys, which flavor do you want Rock or Metal?
