Reiner told me to go ahead and post this in here, as some of you are severely lacking in thread making skills. Starting a thread with "Discuss" or "Does anyone else like this band?" is not the way to go. It doesn't generate enough discussion. You also don't want to write an FA, or if you do, please do, we need those too, but for a basic band thread, don't write an FA.

Do write a description of the band, including things like "Sounds like" and why you like them. If you're making the thread because of some sort of news, please leave a link to a legitimate source, and don't start a thread based on some rumor you read on another message board.

Try to provide audio clips for the band you are posting about. Give your Soulseek user name so fellow users can download from you. Find a site such as Purevolume or MySpace from the band that has songs uploaded to them, or even an official site with some songs available for download. Just having someone talk about band doesn't make you want to buy their CD, you need audio proof to know if you'll like them or not.

If you write a good short paragraph and have some audio links, the thread is much more successful and people can get into new bands. You can generate better discussion and they don't die out within a page. It's not a lot of effort to write a paragraph praising a band you want to share and uploading a song or two takes 10 minutes on a decent internet connection.

Making a thread about how bad a band is in your opinion is not a good thread. It doesn't make you cool. Stop acting twelve and put thoughts into your posts.

Feel free to add to this.

I don't think song links are essential. If it's a recommendation from a regular I'll get it off Soulseek.

Good idea. But I agree with Joe. Song links aren't always necessary, as most of us use soulseek.

Yeah, search doesn't produce much anymore.

The search is better in 156. But if you know the person has soulseek, add them to your list. Also try list searches and room searches within the mx rooms, those yield more results.

I get just about everything I want with Room and List searches.

That's what I usually do.

This is good, I'll consider it whenever I start a new band thread.

For people that are too lazy as me, song links are quite appreciated.

I'm going to bump this for some more reading by people, I've seen a decline in quality lately.

I'm opposed to how this guideline asks for people to blatantly break the rules and use you send it.

I propose that you ammend it, or I might just call the internet rangers.

I'm also opposed to you deleting me from your soulseek list.

asshole

Forgot about the YSI thing, I'll take that out.

And you probably got purged because of zero files, message me and I'll readd you.
