im not that great of a guitar player and i can play that no problem standing up and at the same speed. also, he plays that song at concerts and as a musical guest on some tv show. after awhile of touring and playing it every single night, you should be playing that blind folded.

^ I agree, but then again, he's probably drunk and or stoned alot while he's on stage. If it wasn't in before and you're trying to do it while drunk, stoned, or both, it won't stick.
punkfan92
01-17-2007, 05:50 PM
he probably was a little drunk. i dont know about stoned but maybe drunk. if he was then i guess it is a little explainable. but still you probably shouldnt get drunk before you play a show. and if you are being filmed probably not the best show to drink before.
MattSharpIsCool
01-17-2007, 05:53 PM
It's not rock n' roll if you're not drunk on stage.
I'd imagine they don't care much if they mess up on stage. It's not like fans will abandon them because of it.

^ Um, he was in blink-182. He was like 24, rich, famous, loved by the public, and did jack for a living, except make fart jokes.
That's why he was drunk while playing live infront of hundreds (possibly thousands, and, a few times, hundreds of thousands, and at least once that I know of, millions) of people who absolutely loved him and his 2 best friends. He was livin' it up.
I would've been smashed, too.
punkfan92

i guess your right. besides getting drunk probably enhances the expierence.
not really.

Dookie is like...a masterpiece, though.
I think:
Dookie > Dude Ranch
Possibly, Dookie > Enema, too.
Dookie > all of Blink's albums to be honest, but it's a very tough call. Dude Ranch, Enema and TOYPAJ are ALMOST as good, but not quite, in my opinion.
1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours beats the sh1te out of Blink's early stuff (Buddha and Cheshire Cat) though.
Don't get me wrong, I love Blink to pieces, but I grew up listening to GD so I'm naturally gonna be biased. Insomniac is my favourite album though... Stuart and the Ave <3
EDIT: For me it's a lot like the age old arguement... RBF or LTJ?

I think Dookie is THE most over rated album of all time.. I know what I just said probably just f*cked off the whole entire pop/punk board, but I just dont see why its rated so highly... Alot of the songs sound the same, hardly any cool guitar riffs or anything, a few good bass riffs here and there and thats about it... Just powerchords and Billy Joe's voice over them (which IMO is a pretty dull voice to listen to for a whole album) Nothing too special (I know pretty much all punk related music is powerchords, but I find Dookie too repetative in style and structure) I am pretty biased though, as I love Blink and don't really like Green Day... Dont get me wrong, Dookie is a solid album, but it never comes close to being the 2nd greatest punk album of all time which I read somewhere the other week.

pop punk is repetitive.
Blink certainly are and they only really use powerchords and simple riffs too.

Lyrics are something I don't think I'd mind tattoo'd onto me.
For example the line..
"She's All I Need, She's All I Dream, She's All I'm Always Wanting.."
It's from "All Of This" - Blink 182, and I can say that I wouldnt' mind that tattoo'd onto my arm. It's a much less "known" Blink song, so if someone saw it, it's not "Omg, you listen to Blink?" right away. It's subtle enough for it not to be immediatly associated with the band, but it still has meaning behind it.

I wanna get a really subtle '182' on my body somewhere. Maybe hand, arm, shoulder, leg. Something like that, just small.
Blink have been my favourite band since I started listening to music. (Other than the Wiggles, they rocked.)
And I can't see myself ever getting sick of them. I can immagine myself growing out of them, and not listening to them everyday as I do now, but there will never be a time when I would turn off a blink song if it came on the radio/TV/Ipod.
Come to the of it, I wouldn't mind a Wiggles tatto somewhere too...

Most of u guys have probably seen this:
Angels & Airwaves, specifically Tom DeLonge, have revealed that they're back in the studio writing and recording their second album, a follow-up to We Don't Need to Whisper.
No other details were provided in the message; however, we at Sputnikmusic are optimistic that this album will be the best rock record ever, something that DeLonge repeatedly claimed about the band's debut. Stay tuned with us, as we will undoubtedly document the band's inevitable sophomore slump... which might very well be an improvement.

That's a pretty bad attitude to take. Have some faith that Tom can write good music. You like Blink, he wrote good tunes for 10 years. Even if you didn't like AVA's first album, maybe the second will be better. You should at least give him a chance.

I gave the CD a go, coz I like Mark's writting style, as well as his voice, which is why I like Plus 44. If some other randoms made the same songs and I somehow got onto thier music, I'd love it just as much.
I think that's stupid listining to the band just coz you like the members other band.

I like Mark and Travis as people and celebrities but if (+44) sucked, I wouldn't listen. I like (+44)'s music a lot. Sure, the initial reason I was drawn and interested in the band was because Mark and Travis were in it and that was a big part of why I gave them a listen in the first place, but I genuinely enjoy the music.

I also don't really understand why people would listen to a band, just because of the people that are in the band. And meanwhile they think that the music sucks. :)

That basically it they no longer have the same effect on me they used to. I cant appreciate their goofyness anymore and all i can hear is grown men acting like little kids.
TTTYG is probably on a par with Enema in terms of music althuogh Enema wins hands down for its influence on the scene.

I dont think Blink is all that bad lyrically. Of course songs like Family Reunion or the Grandpa song arent all that poetic, but when Blink actually tried to write songs, they did a fairly good job, I think.
I'm not just talking about their untitled either. Carousel is old school and even then they were able to write a decent tune. They're not "deep" and "introspective" or whatever, but they're not awful, either.
Defiitely not "infantile" as you put it, unless, like I said, you're only listening to their **** around songs.

Are you joking? The biggest pop-punk band right now would probably been Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, or someone like that. But sure as hell not Fall Out Boy. They've only just realesed thier new album, and I dunno about other areas, but around here it's a joke. The new single gets little to no airtime, I've heard it once, and that was the premiere on Channel [V]. I know about 3 or 4 people that can stand them, and about 3 or 4 thousand that find them as annoying as I do. Name 5 pop-punk bands directly influenced by Fall Out Boy. Now times that by about 8 billion or so, and you'll have the number of bands influened by Travis and Mark of Plus 44. They may be in a defferent band now, but they are still as influential as ever.

Green Day arent pop punk anymore there mainstream rock but yeah i forgot about them, Fall Out Boy are definately bigger than Panic! and on a par with My Chemical Romance. Note I said bands, read that carefuily Bands. Plus 44 have influenced almost no-one and Blink are no more.
Five bands that wouldnt exist, without Fall Out Boy:
1. Treaty of Paris
2. Cute Is What We Aim For
3. Cobra Starship
4. Hush Sound
5. Paramore
None of those bands would of had anyhting like the success they've had without Fall Out Boy and some would sound almost entirely different. So what if none of your friends like them, face the facts a lot of people do, they can sell out huge arenas across the world, they are a big band. Their new single is almost never off the music channels in the UK and i know there huge in the US too.
Plus 44 are a generic but at times likable pop punk band blatantly living off their past glories with little new to really add to the scene.

Hey, can someone check out pure-volume.com and check out the band ...and then i turned seven... (MN), what kind of chords are used there? I can't tell. They don't sound like barre chords or power chords or even open chords. Someone tell me what they are please.

I haven't listened to Blink properly in such a long time. This thread is boring Blink-182 are over, Plus 44 are on tour and **** knows what AVA are doing. Hopefully breaking up. I've been watching alot of live Distillers videos lately, and Ryan was so sick with them. Too bad they broke up, now Ryan has no chance of re-joining anyway.

This may seem like a retarded question, but does Tom Delonge have flesh tunnels, or just normal piercings?
I saw Blink 182 twice, on there last two UK tours, they were really good, fukking funny too.
And i recently saw +44 at Nottingham Rock City and they were pretty cool too!
im not so sure about AVA yet, they have some good shizz together, but it seems to me like theyre trying too hard.

Exactly, does anyone know when their next album comes out? Have they even said anything about it yet?
This may seem like a retarded question, but does Tom Delonge have flesh tunnels, or just normal piercings?
I have no idea about this but I'd assume he just has normal piercings. Actually, I don't even know what flesh tunnels are...

I think at one stage, around the Enema/TOYPAJ era he had tunnels, but I'm pretty sure he's either let them shrink down to a normal piercing, or just taken them out and fully let them heal.
Why do I know this? I think I have an ear fetish.

So if blink-182 played a reunion show in San Diego ONE NIGHT ONLY and you happened to be in town, how much would you pay for a ticket?
It would be original blink-182 playing basically their entire discog for everyone.

I'd probably pay for the plane ticket over there, an then up to $1000 to see 'em play. It's not often you get to see a band play after they've broken up, gone their separate ways, started new bands, and haven't talked in over a year.
Plus, they're blink. :D
