Ahh Tom Delonge where did he loose his way? Do you actually think he knows how unpopular AVA is. I mean when AVA came from melbourne they played at festival hall where blink 182 played. The thing is it didnt sell out and still had mosh tickets avaible on the night. But when blink 182 came around it sold out in 10 minutes i think. It must give him some idea of the fans thoughts

I was gonna go to that AVA show, but then I saw the ticket price, I can't remeber what it was, but I remeber thinking it wasn't worth it.

Whats going on with travis? does he had a snare hooked up to a foot pedal? its how it sounds.
chumpradio
11-16-2006, 04:58 PM
I think it's an electric sample of a snare, and when he presses a foot trigger, it makes the recorded snare sound.
That's what I'm guessing anyway.

he does something with his foot to make a snare noise.

Omg, Tom’s new song is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard!…
The new song really sux. Tom said it would be really great and even though he always says stuff like that I believed him because he said that he was serious this time. I mean, it was just like every song on the album. He came up with some electronic tune, repeated it about 1000 times, and then he threw in some vocals just for the sake of having vocals. The only difference between this song and the songs on the album is that this song is like 8 minutes long. I don’t know where the quote is but didn’t he say something like it had like 3 different parts that “took u up and down” or something like that? 3 parts: 1.Four minutes of the same electronic pattern 2.Chanting like a retard 3.Throwing in some decent lyrics. I guess he just thought this song was really epic just because he made this one 8 minutes long.
- ooh, look what I found:
Atom Willard‘s blog from February 2006:
“Today, I walked into to Tom’s studio to talk to him about the new album but when I got there he was just standing there with his eyes closed flapping his arms up and down really slowly while humming. I called his name a couple of times to get his attention and finally he took notice of me. I told him that I needed to talk to him about the new album but he told me to hold on because he had to get something. I waited for a couple of minutes and finally he came back carrying 2 toy laser guns and wearing one of those fighter pilot jackets. He handed me one of the guns and told me to make believe that we were exploring a dangerous alien planet in the year 3263. I told him to stop messing around, that I really needed to talk to him. Tom just stared at me and after about 5 seconds he lifted his gun and started shooting it at me. I grabbed the gun from him and said very forcefully that I REALLY needed to talk to him. Tom just started to stare at me again looking deeply offended. Then, Tom started to stomp his feet up and down while twirling his arms like a windmill and speaking very loudly in some weird language: GLEEP ORG GLOP TOOS BACH (I later found out that this was a language Tom was making up…(he never finished it)). I finally became really fed up so I just walked out of his studio. As I walked down the hall I could hear him continuing to stomp and yell…
- at this rate I don’t think we’ll ever get the album finished”
EDIT: I just listened to the song again and it’s not that bad. It’s actually pretty catchy and uplifting. Tom just made it out to be really epic but it was just another one of his really simplistic formats so it kind of let me down and annoyed me.
Thanks for uploading it for me.

ES-335s (what tom's new sig is) = good
Les Paul Juniors = good

The distorted bass in Weatherman is awesome.
I noticed there are more than a couple fairly weak verses on the Plus 44 album, but they are usually followed by an amazing chorus. Some would say Weatherman is a decent example of this.
Little Death could also be in that category, although the verses are swell enough in that song. My favorite part of the entire CD just might be the chorus for that song.

Anthem and Anthem Pt. II are both amazing songs but they deal with different aspects of growing up. Anthem 1 is about the social aspect; the parties, the parents telling you what to do, your inability to be totally independent but your strong desire to, etc.

Anthem Pt. II is more about the overall social place of teenagers. I mean, we're old enough to think for ourselves but they're supposedly not intelligent enough to vote or do things on their own...because all teens are troublemakers, right?

So do you guys think Enema of the State is the epitome of blink?
When do you think blink was at their peak, musically speaking?
Always.
Most albums were different enough to not get repetitive, and still be musically decent.
S/T was worse than the rest though.
bottlerocket
11-29-2006, 11:08 PM
Yeah...blame that one on "growing up" and the lack of band unity.
Tom was really controlling on that one.
I know, I've heard in interviews that it was around S/T recording that Tom started changing for the worse.
The rest of their music is all still pretty fun though.
MattSharpIsCool
11-29-2006, 11:11 PM
Best musically?
Hmm, probably Dude Ranch. Some decent licks on the guitar and bass on that album, and lots of speed.
I think TOYPAJ was their least musical album.
bottlerocket
11-29-2006, 11:13 PM
Enthused is probably the epitome of pop-punk guitar riffs. It's a good example of a pop-punk song.
I think TOYPAJ was their weakest music album, too.
TOYPAJ may have been the least musical but I still think it was quite good.
All in all none of their albums were overly musical, it's all about the fun.
I think S/T was by far the weakest though.
MattSharpIsCool
11-29-2006, 11:15 PM
Ya, I like TOYPAJ quite a bit.
And I thought the untitled album was pretty good. I just can't listen to it a lot in a short period of time.
But "Always" is one of my favorite Blink songs.
bottlerocket
11-29-2006, 11:16 PM
I think their musical talent was best shown in Enema of the State.
For Tom and Travis, anyway.
Mark's was on Buddha, since he has actually basslines on that album. After that, he just sort of...gave up.
S/T had some strong songs yeah. Always is one of my favourites off of it. It also had some songs I have a strong dislike for. Actually mainly I Miss You. Which I absolutely hate.
I also dislike all their joke songs although at first they were sort of fun.
MattSharpIsCool
11-29-2006, 11:20 PM
When I first got the album, I really liked "I Miss You" but once the radio got ahold of it, I grew to hate it. Now that I look back on it, if that album came out today, and had never gotten radio play, I dont think I would like I Miss You. Saying it's a boring song would be a compliment.

My old history teacher was Scottish, and he'd always mention how that was the only relevant bit of history in his country's past.
ha scottish history is pretty much them trying to stop english people from killing/ruling them, they failed.

Well obviously they don't do that anymore.
Thats why I said it's the country's claim to fame.
Look at it this way though. At least their claim to fame isn't running out of potatoes, like a certain country across the water from England.
My province's claim to fame actually is this.
We're like the Potatoe capital of the world..lmao.

There's a news story saying that Tom said that there's a possibility for Blink to re-unite and make a final album. I call bull on this one, or even if he did say it, I doubt that Mark or Travis have heard about it/agreed.

^ I agree.
I doubt Mark and Travis are down, after what he did to them. It wouldn't be the same blink 182 anymore, you know? blink 182 was about 3 best friends screwing around, writing catchy music about the difficulties of growing up, and farting and making poop jokes. Tom's too different now and Mark and Travis have grown up a lot, too.
I mean, when you're in your late 30s, do you really want to be singing songs about breaking up with girls, getting kicked out of high school, binge drinking, parties, getting laid, ****ing dogs in the ***, having sex with your grandfather, etc.? I doubt it.
I'd like to see old blink but it will never be that way again, I don't think.

do you know what would be funny. if mark and travis reformed blink without tom. it would probably suck musically but it would be funny to show tom for being a dick before.

makes sense, but it seemed like that up to the very end, things were cool within the band. I think it would be in all of their hearts to forgive and get back together.

Im from Scotland, and have bought my tickets for the +44 show in Glasgow. I was never going to miss that
And just for the record... Scotland kicks ***- its just like England but replace the posh stuck up ****ers, dodgey laws and tea and crumpets with some balls and fun.... If I was a band I'd tour Scotland more than anywhere else- Scottish crowds are the best there is ... but then again I'm biased......
haha scottish crowds probably blows
i would def hit up ireland and get ****ing wasted with the crowd and then come back to canada because we have crazy bitches here
Are these gigs selling out? I might have to go see +44 in Newcastle.
i guess living right by scotland i dont think of it like that, but meh.
oh and i think of guiness and fighting when i think of Ireland. Actually i think of that Simpsons episode on St. Patricks day when they brawl in the street.
Hang on, you live in Leeds!
That ain't right by Scotland! (although compared to 99% of the forum, I guess it is)

Peggy Sue is up there for my favorite song by them.
Waaaant to take off your shoes justa
Walk barefoot down the street
Just to be the things that you can be
Just live for one more week
I'm sick of always hearing sappy love songs on the radio.

Aurgh! Now I want to listen to Blink, but I'm totally into +44 right now.
Might just bash up a playlist and stick it on random repeat. Then chill all night with some malibu or baileys till I have to get up in the morning. mmmmm.

Well, duh!
That version rules so hard, although CC rules, too.

If I had travis' hair in this picture I'd be stoked 24/7. I'd also take up surfing and live on a beach and just smoke so much pot.
