I'm glad I'm not the only ex-Blink fan who isn't excited about the new AVA album. Frankly I didn't care for anything I heard by them and unless the album comes into the station and I listen to it in the office then I probably wont get my hands on it ever.
I alteast like Plus44's song that come out, and I've always preferred Mark over Tom. That album I'm more interested in and I might see them live if they came by and were under $20 to see. Atleast I'd get to see Mark and Travis again. I saw Blink prefer a year before they broke up. It was my third time seeing them.

or one of my mates lol, i know she would :smash:
The thing is, I truely believe Travis affected Tom's writing, and held him back. It seems that when he came along for EOTS, they got mega-poppy, and although this improved, the same can be said for Box Car Racer as well. Now Travis is gone, I think Tom's vision of what he wants to write can be done, and I'm really happy with it. It's great to just listen to and not care about how good the lyrics are, or how impressive the musicianship is. Truth be told it's a good record.
Plus 44 didn't impress me with their song (I can't even remember what it was called), but I'm not basing my judgement of them on that. When the album is released, then I will decide.

I agree pretty much. Atom Willard seems to be a lot more suited to the music that Tom wants to make as well.
Travis would always try to put in drum fills which sometimes wouldn't fit the style of song, they just showed off his talent, whereas Atom seems to fit the songs perfectly on AVA's album.
/me also saw Blink at the same tours
Bad Blood
05-24-2006, 10:32 AM
Yeah Travis was more of a show off, than someone to care about the song really. The way he looked too, h I guess he like to be the one who people looked at 'cause he looked loads different to the others...
Well, it's a possibility :p
/didn't see them on their last tour :upset:

Yeah see, I didn't really enjoy BCR all the much, but what I did like was a lot of the drum parts in the album.
:-/
I like Toms voice better when he sang in Blink songs, cause it sounds better imo, the whiny and shi I like, but Marks voice is good in some songs.

Did Mark and Tom seem very friendly with each other at that show?
They acted how they acted at all the other shows. Apart from the first tour i saw them begining of 04, they said nothing to each other, end of 04 tour, there was a lot of banter and they acted like usual.

It was really weird to see him 3rd-to-last at GIAN. But for most bands to play that high would be a dream.
DJ Ducksauce
05-24-2006, 06:02 PM
Back to the Travis topic, he was my least favorite out of blink. I would have preferred Scott way over him just because Scott fits with the band so much better.
Bad Blood
05-24-2006, 06:03 PM
But it's Tom Delonge, he's already famous.
For a smaller band not many people have heard of, yeah, that's good.
DJ Ducksauce
05-24-2006, 06:06 PM
Everyone has heard of AVA though. I mean I see tons of people with them on their myspaces and such. It's insane. They're probably one of the most hyped up bands before anyone had even heard anything by them.
Dead Star
05-24-2006, 06:08 PM
AVA is possibly the most overhyped band, ever.
Bad Blood
05-24-2006, 06:10 PM
Yeah, but only to people who understand stuff...
To be fair, most of Tom's fans bow down to his feet and think everything he does is amazing whatever it would be. So they wouldn't think it's overhyped, which, by majority, means it isn't overhyped, which is bad bacause it is :)

It may have been said before... But I think the only real good talent in blink was Travis. Mark and Tom were really good and knew enough of what they were doing... But I don't know if they were a match for Travis. It still sucks that they went on hiatus and all though
Bad Blood
05-24-2006, 06:29 PM
They all had lots of talent. Mark and Tom had amazing talent to make pop punk the way they did. They practically helped it evolve.
On the other hand, Travis had more technical ability.
DJ Ducksauce
05-24-2006, 06:30 PM
Yeah, Travis had more talent playing wise, but I did not like him at all. Mark and Tom were awesome. They were good at making songs and making them good songs even though they weren't difficult.
Travis had the most talent of all 3 of them, but he doesn't have a whole lot of talent. He does the same thing in so many songs.
Untitled
05-24-2006, 08:46 PM
I think if your talking talent wise, Marks writing ripped shreds out Trav's drumming.
Well I meant instrument talent.

Tom's quite a good guitarist. Some of his riffs are hard as.
DJ Ducksauce
05-24-2006, 09:51 PM
They're good, but they're not that complicated to play really. They're good by his standards though.
ie:

bassist_for_a_band
05-24-2006, 09:58 PM
Yea if anything, they didn't really show what they could do... Like my band's covered Dammit, First Date, and All The Small Things, and touched into What's My Age Again... None of it's really technical or difficult. I personally think that if they wanted to, they could mix it up and make some sweet stuff... But hey, whatever works for them.
yourstruly
05-24-2006, 11:23 PM
Alot of there pre EOTS stuff is a little bit technical on guitar, i'm struggling to play some of it. It took me a while to get the intro for What's my age again.

So my friend went into HMV the other day, and he saw The Mark, Tom and Travis Show. He bought it since it's out of print and he needed it. Either way, he went back there today, and they had like 10 copies of it. Is it being repressed or something?
Untitled

Thats odd, ill check the HMV in manchester, its HUGE, if they have it in there, then maybe so.
There nothing on the site.
Tom DeLonge is super-psyched about his new band, Angels & Airwaves, and its debut album. That's why on the day "We Don't Need To Whisper" was released, he's turned into a human quote-machine, according to MTV.com.
"When we were making this record, I remember one night, it was about 2 a.m. and I went into the studio — which was in my house — and it was pitch black and I put the record on and listened to it, and I had this overwhelming rush of emotions," he said. "I was like, 'Oh my God, this is going to be huge,' and I started having these panic attacks thinking about every country in the world wanting us there multiple times. Conquering the globe is a pretty large endeavor."
And you can't blame him for being excited. After all, Whisper has been an endeavor almost a year in the making, and in the time since he first announced he was starting the record, he's been peppering the media with statements of its sheer awesomeness.
"People ask me, 'Is this the next Box Car Racer album?,' and I say, 'Kind of.' And people ask me if this is the next Blink record, and I say, 'Kind of.' But it's also the beginning of something completely new," DeLonge laughed. "This band contains an inner energy and a spiritual awakening that's kind of magical. And it's so full of positive energy that I think that whoever comes to the shows or listens to the album and wants to become a part of it, it will happen to them. I think it's going to be a sort of magical, organic thing that happens with anybody that is willing to have that kind of feeling in their life."
A&A will launch an American tour alongside Taking Back Sunday next month. What can fans expect when they come to an Angels show? You probably can guess Tom DeLonge's answer.
"These shows have been incredible. ... They're so much different than Blink shows," he said. "They're anthemic and heroic. There's a huge group of people coming to feel the exact same thing at the exact same minute. And it really feels like an ascension to heaven. People are lifting off the ground. There are people crying, and there are these battle flags flying in the wind. It's incredible."
First bold: What a douche.
Second-: What the hell?
Thirdbold: What a douche.

Haven't listened to them enough to care really.
I'm ignoring Tom Delonge's antics at the moment. He's clearly over-enthusiastic about this, but still, that's no reason to act like he's a prophet or something.

From tomsangels.com
Tom Delonge on whether "No It Isn't" is about him:
"I don’t know their intentions. They're probably hurt by the whole thing. It was probably tough on them like it was myself. I haven’t talked to them in over a year so I don’t know where they're coming from and I don’t know what they mean. They have their own choices of how they want to present their music and how they want to debut their band so I can't look into why they do what they do."

Yes yes I did, I saw them on Thursday and it was at a really small venue which was awesome. We got there 6 hours before the doors opened and were about 15 kids back from the front. It was sold out and packed and there was only one warm up band called Moth who sucked big time. But then AVA came out and it was awesome. It was really good but the crowd really wasn't into it, everyone was pushing and stuff but nobody was going crazy, like there was about 15 kids there from my school and all of us were going crazy but other than that people were just standing there, and most people didn't even know the words to the songs. They played everything off We Don't Need To Whisper and they played There Is, and Down. I almost got a pick and I gave Tom a high five. Overall awesome night.

Besides, Mark is just expressing himself. You try losing your best friend who you have known for more than a decade and watch your band which happens to be one of the biggest in the world be torn apart in front of you, would you be upset?
