It's a lot harder than that for more advanced songs. You have to work on speed, finger placement, how hard you hold down the string, And for bassists especially you have to exercise your pinky, Some of the thick strings get hard to hold down. And if theres any popping or slapping at all you have to change your hand to a new position in relatively no time.
For most songs that aren't at a beginner level, it is much more than just reading the notes. 20-30 minutes is probably all it should take for a song at a beginner/intermediate level like carousel.
Hey, Four days left until a AVA song!

New MTV Interview With Tom
Saturday, 10 December 2005
On Tom DeLonge's agenda for 2006: a) complete the debut album from his new band, Angels & Airwaves; b) finish the feature film that accompanies that album; c) completely change the face of rock and roll; and d) create an entirely new generationof music fans out of the lumpy, unmotivated masses.
He also plans on directing a few videos, doing some charity work, launching an Angels & Airwaves world tour and taking up interpretive dance.
(Just kidding about that last thing.)
Regardless, it's shaping up to be quite a year for DeLonge, who's made no bones about making Angels the biggest band in the world by the end of '06. So it's no surprise that he's getting an early start on things, launching an Angels & Airwaves podcast on Tuesday that will serve as the band's formal introduction to the planet.
"It's going to be a really big day for us, and for music," DeLonge said. "We're going to be introducing the band, playing some snippets from the movie and just kicking the whole thing off in general. I've been working on this project for 12 months now, so yeah, I'm pretty excited by the whole thing."
The podcast will debut at MacbethFootwear.com — the Web site of DeLonge's shoe company — and on AngelsAndAirwaves.com, and it's just the first step in a very long and elaborate rollout for the band's new album, which DeLonge said will hit stores in April. And though he's still playing coy with some details, his hardline no-info stance does appear to be dissipating just a bit, and he let MTV News in on a few nuggets about the record.
"It's 10 songs long, and the total running time will be a little bit over an hour. Some of the song titles are 'Start the Machine,' 'It Hurts' and 'The Adventure,' " DeLonge said. "Everyone who's heard it says it's the best thing I've ever done, and I'm inclined to believe them. We haven't picked the first single yet because all 10 songs are absolute singles. That's been the hardest thing of all, trying to determine the first single."
Though it most certainly won't be the first single, DeLonge said that one track fans will be hearing sooner rather than later is "Valkyrie Missile," which he originally planned to release on December 13 but has since decided to hold until the new year.
"It's a great calling card for the band. It's the first song on the album and it's this massive soundscape," DeLonge explained. "It's named after the Valkyrie missile, which was built to carry nuclear warheads across the Atlantic. It's based on the idea of a missile headed your way, getting ready to annihilate life as we know it — but something great and special will come out of the aftermath. I kind of liken that to the last year of my life. When I was getting ready to leave the Blink world and thinking of starting the Angels & Airwaves world, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I didn't know how amazing it would be."
While DeLonge is anxious to get the song out there, he's even more excited about just how fans will react to it. And in typical fashion, he's not exactly shy about expressing that excitement.
"In January the single and video will drop and you'll see a whole new generation of Mods appearing everywhere, based on the kids in the '60s on their Vespas that were interested in modern living and modern fashion," he laughed. "I'm going to usher in this entire new culture of the youth, obsessed with the future. Because we're not going to be one of those rock bands that take photos sitting on dirty curbs, pretending to be like every other rock band of the past 10 years. Angels & Airwaves will be all about the future."

Eh, there's already lots of bands Like that too. The Phenomenauts and the Aquabats are something like it.
In my opinion, it won't be nearly as good as tom said it will be, (It'll still be great, but Not as good as he thinks it will be) But it will still go over wonderfully and be extremely sucessful because of all the hype.
And after their first video hits places like MTV, every Prep and bopper in the country will buy their Cd realizing that they have the same singer as blink.
It'll probably sound like a redone Box Car Racer.

i really really like it.
It's not bad actually, I was hoping for something a little more upbeat, but it's OK. That lyric "So let's slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful" makes me cringe. Mark is a better writer than that.

i agree 100% i was gunna say that b4 about the slitting wrists part. But this could be just 1 slow song on the record uno the rest could be fast.
If this leaked there should be an advance album floating around soon. I've got this song on repeat heh, nothing else good to listen to

LOL actualy I searched AAA on limewire and there were quite a few responses... some titles include Demise, Take The Stairs and Wrecked Him, and Dance With Me and All Systems Go, which I belive are Boxcar Racer songs..?
Wrecked Him is a Blink song, the last 2 are BCR songs and the others are probably just renamed. Hell I did it, I renamed a song to see if people would think it was AAA. Of course, I added a little extra halfway into the song ;)

"A cry for less attention" - Tom wanting to not be a star anymore, and not wanting to be in Blink anymore. Wanting to have quiet time with his family.
"Burn down something beautiful" - Ruining their friendship that was so great.
"Lives that we destroyed" - Sounds like it could be about all the Blink fans that overreacted so much about the break up.
"My mouth is filled with blood from trying not to speak" - Mark had been trying to hold in his anger, until it all built up and got worse.
"Search for an excuse, and someone to believe you" - Tom trying to make excuses for Blink's split, and trying to make it sound like it had to happen.
That's just my interpretationl.

It's going to be absolutely raped by little fanboys/girls.

I agree. The Plus 44 song isn't anywhere as great as I expected it to be. I've heard better from travis and mark in the past. "No It Isn't" is lacking character and passion. It seems as if they wrote it in an hour or so. The structure and melodies and whatnot all seem very predictable and cliche. I hope the rest of the album is better.

Right now all I'm caring about is the greatness of the Plus-44 song. It's far more lush than I thought it would be. That Angels And Airwaves thing better be up soon or you'll all have to put with my incessant gushing over No It Isn't...
ya, I agree - I just listened to the song and I love it - when did it come out? And when does all of the Plus 44 album and the AVA album come out?
- basically can someone explain to me everything thats going on right now with the two bands?

I just watch the movie trailer and something called "first contact" on the AVA website - are the songs playing in the videos AVA's songs?

Whenever i look at a picture of Travis i always think "he looks like a prick", with his tatoos, his hair and the way he dresses but Meet the Barkers shows how cool he is.

If I could get my hair to go like that I seriously would do it. Sure it would be ripping off Mark's unique hairstyle, which is something I'd hate to do..But then again, I love it too much :p
But yeah, does anyone know what he uses? Because if I can pull it off I'm doing it

When the hell are they going to release the podcast?

My back is sore now :( I went off to drum for a while. I need really good headphones so I can actually drum to music. I was drumming to some Blink for a while but I tend to get messed up because I can't hear the song that well when I'm drumming.

I'd imagine it's not that hard. Grow out your hair if it's short, But you don't want it long, Maybe Down to your Eyes or Eyebrows. Then Spike it up and Spray it.
It's probably a lot harder than that if your hair is completely straight or Curly. My hair looks pretty much exactly like Marks, so it's easy to copy his Hairstyle.

Well..I have fairly long hair, at least down to my eyes. And I usually spike it in the front and **** so I have super huge spikes. But..Spray it? Wha? Explain..I know nothing about hair.

the whole AVA thing seems really self-righteous and not a huge departure from the latest Blink 182 stuff.
i think its just going to be overhyped and mediocore
Hairspray Stew.
Just gel doesn't work on even semi long hair. I know from experience. Now my hair is just long, saves trouble.

True about the whole Robert Smith/Mark Hoppus thing..But it doesn't matter, I like Mark's hair better than Robert's. Mark was heavily influenced by The Cure anyways.
No It Isn't-Plus44 (http://www.plusfourtyfour.com/)
There hasn't been an AVA song released yet, although if you go to AVA (www.angelsandairwaves.com) you should be able to eventually hear one once they put it up.

I could get my hair to look like that if I wanted. I think I look bad with all my hair spiked, so I only do the front, when I feel like it.
Don't spike your hair. It wouldn't suit you at all IMO
