Did any one of you read an article about the hiatus? This was from
http://www.blink-182online.com the article is here http://www.blink-182online.com/newsfiles/ap_markhiatus.jpg
It tells about Mark, and saying that the hiatus wasn't from blink, but from the management. Well, just read.

was listening to my "zzz" playlist and what went wrong (aka you ****ed up my life) came on and had a thought...unless blink is back together and i completely missed it, does anyone here think tom would ever do some type of a solo project? or do you think he would never be able to make it w/out some other member to back him up? if this has been previously discussed i am sorry...but i am fairly new and the thought popped in my head...so let me know what you guys think.

More output meaning: more gain, heavier/crunchier distortion.
I know because you can hear it in the sound. Also, hollowbodies aren't made to produce a heavy sound. It doesn't change the blink sound that much, but I miss the old heavy distortion, with lots of feedback, and better pick sliding. I just hate Tom's new guitar. It doesn't fit blink, and he shouldn't be playing it.
Well it's just a rumour going round at the moment, but I hope he does do a solo project and I hope it's all acoustic
Bad Blood
07-16-2005, 06:24 AM
I doubt it will all be acoustic. I hope he does one too, it'd be interesting to see what he can do outside of the band.

The Gibson Dirty Finger pickup, is also a strong pickup too. It's just that the guitar is hollow, so it won't have a crunchier sound than the Strat.

true, but i must admit i love the party song, also dont you think its possible that mark write alot of the songs and then tom sings them because when they practice it turns out toms voice better suits the song. i think i heard something about mark getting angry that tom got all the credit for most of the songs, mark even wrote some guitar riffs for some of the songs. but tom most likely does right most of the deeper songs

we are gathered here today to discuss something that has been hardly noticed in blink history and hasnt been mentioned of by any members of blink themselves (not that i've seen or heard anyway)....i am talking about their untitled 1993 demo. I downloaded the demo and i must say that it is awesome, and is for any old-school blink fan or any blink fan PERIOD and has surprisingly good quality!! This demo contains early versions of 'my pet sally' and 'degenerate' and has 3 other songs not released anywhere else!! These songs are 'untitled', 'better days' (very much the demos highlight) and another 'untitled' song (an awesome song to end the demo). What i do know of this demo is that it was only handed out to only friends and family, and very very few copies were made... i havent seen a picture of the demo and would appreciate it if someone emailed me the pics!! Anyone that knows anything about the demo can have their say in this thread..Thanks.. Heres the tracklist!! (these songs are different than any other versions you may have heard on buddha or flyswatter..)
1. Marlboro man
2. Time
3. TV
4. Degenerate
5. Untitled (not from dude ranch!)
6. Better Days
7. Sometimes
8. Point of View
9. Romeo & Rebecca
10. My Pet Sally
11. Reebok Commercial
12. Untitled (a different song and again not from dude ranch!)
(anyone with pics email to 'no_authority__@hotmail.com') thanks again!

He uses a A/B footswitch. I forgot which brand it was, but it allows 2 amps to be used at the same time, or 1 at a time. In a guitarcenter interview, Tom said that he loves the dist. of Mesas, but not the cleans, but loved the cleans of Marshalls, but didn't like the dist. So he mixed them together. Also, he has 3 cabs.

it would have to be a channel swithching device before it reaches both heads. There is a band down at my local who has a similar set up, because the guitarist works at a music shop and he gets to use the gear on the weekends :thumb:

I think getting a perm ban for flaming in here is dumb, there should be a thread for doing such. Obviously, I don't really like the band, but I'm not here to argue, cause I'm going back to Rock and Metal, just wanted to state my opinion on the warning seeming to be alittle too extreme.

Travis is a more technical drummer. Scott is faster.Travis changed the band into more of a pop-punk band.
IMO its hard to say who is better. Both have their strong points, both have their weak. Its a matter of opinon and music taste.

You think Scott is faster??? Travis is just as fast he can play all of Blink-182's old stuff... and as far as im concerned Mark and Tom make the songs and most of there newer songs won't fit to a fast beat...and u r correct..its just an opinion...

Bad Blood
07-23-2005, 10:09 AM
haha "brang"
I like a bit of both. I liked old Blink and new blink.
The reason Blink 182 has changed so much from Chesire Cat and Dude Ranch to their S/T is because they had matured, they grew up. If they had Scott still I think he wouldn't have adjusted to what Tom and Mark wanted. Putting Scotts face on top of Travis, I couldn't see Scott drumming these kind of slower songs compared to his really quick energetic songs like back in Dude Ranch. Travis can drum both energetic and slow. I think changing to Travis was probably their best decision as a band and I don't think they would have went as long with Scott as a drummer. They probably would have went another album or two then Scott would have probably dropped out and they would of went and found a really crap drummer and Blink would suck because they wouldn't have any music talent.
To that guy that thinks hes talking to Tom Delonge, you're an idiot! It's not Tom, I highly doubt he would give away his AIM s/n. He would have a million like fanboys(like you) asking him bunch of stupid questions. He wouldn't do it. It's probably a 30 year old guy who has never had a girlfriend and lives in his parents basement. He'll probably ask you if you want to meet and you being a stupid moron will say yes and then he will come and rape you up the bum.

I don't like the new album at all, and if they rejoin they'll go on on playing crappy music until they're sick of touring and then become rich slobs with no real profit. To end up sucking more, it's better not to rejoin. Look at Op. Ivy, legendary band and only have one full length. If they made an album like there latest, id be disapointed, as i said, i think its good, but its not blink, it dosnt sound like them, i want another dude ranch.

Well, of course there's old people but...there's much more teenagers and/or young people (I mean not from the DK era).
But you know...they're taking profit of them.

Yeah, i understand what your saying, i wouldnt mind seeing DK, so i gues its true, because i speek for all teenagers everywhere.

Why would it be cool if they rejoined? I don't like the new album at all, and if they rejoin they'll go on on playing crappy music until they're sick of touring and then become rich slobs with no real profit. To end up sucking more, it's better not to rejoin. Look at Op. Ivy, legendary band and only have one full length. Then look at The Offspring who are going downhill because they didn't know when to stop.
I meant it would be cool cause they could tour some more so people could get the chance to see them, if they hadnt already (ie me). Plus i think it'd be interesting what approach to music they would have now...

answering albert bass, I completely disagree with you. In My mind, The latest Blink Album was the best Stockholm Syndrome,Asthiena, and Violence are my favorite blink songs, and the offspring are still as good as ever. It's all just a matter of opinion I guess, But For me it would be wonderful if they made another record like S/T.

sometimes i think his comedic lines are pre rehearsed and overused. I think tom must have a few bad bones in his body, esp to make it the way they did in such a tough industry. :thumb:

That dosnt mean he'll keep making them with blink, he could do solo work, get box car back together, make a different band, who knows.

They were good up and until the split. Their self-titled is a great album, TOYPAJ is a great album, EOTS is a great album. Musically wise I like them alot. Musicianship wise, they are simple. But who cares, simplicity in their case equals great music.

Hey all!! my veiws on blink on there newsest album is that the music has definately matured up!! but i think it has given Travis a really good position to arise and prove his skill from the rest of the band! im not dissin Mark or tom cos i know they have too but not as much as Travis!!!! i call there new album experimental because its not the real blink cos we all know them as really cool, funny guys on stage but they never are anymore!! the music is definately still amazing and very influencial!! i think anyway!!
I think they all have the potential to create much better more professional music in the future but i think they have to find time with there other halfs and stuff which is kinda difficult. anywaus lets see what other ppl think on here!!
Check it out
Dan.

greenday put on a beter show, but its exactly the same everytime. And Bj controdicts him self, he was said not to follow rules, or the crowd, or listen to everyone, and trying to be some sort of anarcist. Then what does he do, make the whole crowd go "hey ho" every 10 seconds. Ive been to 2 blink shows, i have numoures live recordings, and live videos, and the whole of the sydney day thing, and each show is differnt, they might play the same songs, but inbetween the songs its different. From what ive seen on TV, heard from people who have seen greenday, 2 or 3 times, etc, they do the exact same thing over and over, just gets boring.

Yeah, i know they don't change the show, bu i've only seen them once, and they blew me away! I saw them on mtv this morning on rock am or something and it was pretty much the same as Milton Keynes. I've heard blink play live a few times, i havent seen them live though.
Its a tough decision. But greenday have the upper hand with me.

i think blink are much better live to be fair there music is much tighter and so much cleaner. they are funnier and more better to put it straight.
chumpradio
07-24-2005, 04:48 PM
That is true. If you see Green Day once, they will be better.
But then you realise they do the same at every show.
Blink always have new jokes to tell, and every recording I have they say different things. Although the first time I saw them they were terrible, both musically and in that they didn't talk to the crowd.

I've heard from quite a few people that blink suck live musicaly.

I think Green Day and Blink 182 both put on great live shows. For some reason, a lot of people say that Blink isn't that good live, but I thought they were great. And Green Day was awesome when I saw them as well, although a lot of people said they were good live.
