Yeah, I'm not sure if Bring the Pain of Bigger and Blacker are on CD either. Anyway, thanks for letting me know it exists, at least. I'll try and have a look around for it.
It's definitely worth looking for, I have to say.
Ray: I just glanced at your cd collection and was surprised to see Blackwater Park there......
Among all the classic rock and rap Opeth kind of seems wierd but still makes sense.

on racism in metal-
In BM circles, you see alot of bands that have racist beliefs, especially in the subgenre NSBM, I haven't really heard any of their music, and would perhaps feel a little uneasy doing it, mind you I listen to supposedly satanist bands and don't feel uneasy, and I listen to Varg who IS racist, I dunno, I just leave people's beliefs out of it because, although I really dislike racism, a prevalent opinion in a country school where there are about 3 black people in the school, I love Varg, for example's music...
that was a bit confused, sorry

Thanks Ray.
I find myself liking Orchid and Morningrise a lot more than the other Opeth albums. Blackwater Park seems to be more aggressive in comparison to the other two. Orchid is hands down my favorite, I love the melodic, flowing riffs it has, and while the double bass rules, I also really like the slow drumming on some songs, like at the beginning of Forest Of October. And the growls are awesome, I definently can see myself craving them.

Someone said something about Mind of Mencia and asked for opinions.
I liked Mencia's stand-up on CCP:, but I hated his final routine where he just walked offstage. That was irritating.
The new show has its moments (once in a blue moon), but Mencia goes for cheap laughs with cracking jokes at different nationalities. Yes, I like jokes like this, and yes, I understand that if you're Hispanic that you're comfortable with your heritage by taking stabs at it, but when your entire show revolves around the same "style" of jokes, it gets really old really fast.
Take, for instance, his first show. The one where he says that his mom was a uterus with a head due to having seventeen siblings, then showing that street sign (the one that was supposed to symbolize 'Watch for Children' when he felt it showed immigrants crossing into the country), and then claiming that the fence around the studio was "the actual fence his parents hopped over." Borefest.
That was all just the first show, but yeah it can get pretty overdone. I liked the end where he showed GWB flipping off the camera. That was great. I also liked the Arabian commercials.
Jom, I'm glad you have decided to impliment your new rule in the YSI thread, it's getting spammed to buggery and that's a shame because Other than that it's excellent
Thanks. I said earlier that I hoped I wouldn't have to resort to that, but now I'm going to have to. There really is no excuse for anyone in that thread to have more posts than I do in there, unless they're incredibly active with requesting/uploading.
By the time I come back to university, however, I will definitely be more active when it comes to uploading for others.
Basically, all I do now is upload for people who haven't had answers requested (that I have, anyway), and then wipe the list.

I'm taking all the thespark.com tests again, for the first time in years, I'm dying at 52 and I'm this :
You are a Mastermind!
(Submissive Introverted Abstract Thinker)
You are a MASTERMIND (SIAT). You can be silent and withdrawn, but behind your reserved exterior lies an active mind that allows you to analyze situations and come up with creative, unexpected solutions. Normal people call this scheming.
Anyway, your sense of style and originality are your strengths, and people will respect your judgment once they get to know you. If you learn to be a little more personable, you could be a great leader— you've definitely got the vision thing down. Just make sure all the plotting you do behind those eyes of yours is healthy.
Famous masterminds in television: Dr. Claw, The Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Montgomery Burns.
Compared to 14,734,714 other test takers...
9% are more Submissive than you.
77% are more Dominant than you.
14% are just as Submissive as you.
3% are more Introverted than you.
92% are more Extroverted than you.
5% are just as Introverted as you.
15% are more Abstract than you.
68% are more Concrete than you.
17% are just as Abstract as you.
27% are more Thinking than you.
65% are more Feeling than you.

Tool fanboys invalidated the results from the greatest album competition. I'm sure there are a few guilty parties elsewhere as well.
It's not specific fanboys that are the problem, just fanboys in general.

That would involve an admin re-setting the rights for all new users which is, I think, taking it too far.
Anyway, that's not exactly fair on the people who would vote wisely.
another suggestion I saw is that only people who have started a (legal) thread can vote. That would be almost impossible tio implement, and again unfair on people that just haven't started any threads.

Same basic concept as not allowing brand new accounts to make threads.
That's to limit the amount of people that join up to create spam thread which is, I feel, a slightly more important matter than having to wait to vote because a few fanboys upset a poll result.

because as a bassist he has influenced most people in the field of metal bass.

He plays all those galloping basslines without a pick, and is the driving force behind maiden's sound, and the head of the band, without him there would be no maiden, and without maiden there would be no power metal, not thrash metal, therefore no death or black metal...

So I take it you've dismembered and molested this knobjockey before, Alex?
I would have replied with something like "I'll make a deal with you, when you get out of this forum, I'll get out of your mother" but descending to his level would have been stupid of me, even to own him, which you did admirably on your own I may add.

Drone is the most thoroughly unfunny yet persistent trolls MX has ever experienced. Way back in December I called him on a really douche-baggy post he made in the genres thread, and two months later he spontaneously reappears being an even bigger dumbass than before.
The flame war went on for a little while before Bart called for a cease fire. I complied, but Drone kept up his petty behavior and got banned.
What followed was a campaign of idiotic and ineffectual savagery in which Drone kept making new accounts every couple of hours every day to alternately appeal his bans which were coming in within hours of his making the account and attacking me (resulting in aforementioned bans).
This went on for a while. Like almost a month. Then, he just vanished. Now he's back.

Work sucked some major bum hole this morning. First my mom bitched at me because I asked for 30 cents so I would have enough for a cup of coffee. Then I lost a load of plywood off the back of my truck and I had to track it down, then some **** head of a German guy came in and asked me to cut some plywood for him, I did that then he freaked out because I didn't cut it in 10 ft lengths, instead of the usual 4 ft lengths but he took it anyway. Then I went to lunch and listened to Tool, then it was all better.

ATTN: Anyone knowledgeable about the subject: What's the best way to get pot out of your system for a drug test?

In 3 days, it won't be active in your bloodstream, however, it takes a week for it (the THC) to be completely undectable via bloodtest. And I am afraid you are stuck with it in your body fat for a few years to come.
ATTN: Anyone knowledgeable about the subject: What's the best way to get pot out of your system for a drug test?

Sup?
Basically, you really need 2 solid weeks to get rid of any THC in your system.
Drink a lot of cranberry juice and water.
The day of the test, drink a ton of water, especially right before you go in.
When did you smoke and when is the test?

They can't do anything about that really, and my options are have clear piss and pass or don't drink water and likely fail.
Plus, along with Jom's idea, it's like 95 degrees here, they can't get on my case for drinking water.
Drink the water, eat the chocolate, and then make sure that any residuals get explained away as 'second hand inhalation from parties'.

I'd still do it anyways, because even if it turns out to do nothing, it won't have done any harm.
Well, supposedly the active chemicals that make chocolate addictive and impart a sense of euphoria or happiness are similar in structure, but dominant to chemicals like THC. So, it basically has a masking affect.
And besides, it should make you less depressed/worried about the test.

I hate the vocals, fortunately they dont appear for too long in the songs :p

The teacher I had sucked I suppose. He was ignorant, unorganized and never prepared for the lesson plus he was always 20 min late. He was wasting all the time writing stuff on my notebook (like he couldnt prepare the notes before the lesson) and never bothered to show me songs I cared about (oh yeah, I forgot, next time etc). Pretty bad experience for a guitar newbie but I bet he was just the case.

My guitar teacher was like 80, so he wasn't nearly as cool as your average teacher, whom you could ask to teach you certain things, but he still could have shown me things. I didn't want to listen though. I was like 9, and I wanted to play Limp Bizkit.

Leeds is a good university, as far as I can tell so far. It's only real disadvantage is that it's positioned more or less on a large hill. Not a problem if you live on the hill, or above the university on the hill, but it's a bitch if you live at the bottom, as I do.

my cousin (who is an Indie kid, but still cool) says that it's a good Uni for the metal scene, I want to go there but would actually prefer a scottish uni because of the exta subjects you can take, (I would choose Philosophy and History) and the extra year means I can put off real life for another year
I'm off to work now, byes

Well I'm taking philosophy, so I suppose that bit doesn't apply. You can take electives (subjects outside your primary subject) in your first year of university at most universities anyway, though.
I'm planning on putting real life off for at least an extra year anyway. And Joseph's Well (a pub just across the road from where my accomodation is) has some good gigs, yes.
Yet another terrible day at work, in which I screwed up a room service order. :-/ My boss asked me if I think I'm cut out for restaurant work. Tomorrow I'm probably going to tell her "no," since I wasn't planning on staying anyway due to school.

Yeah, I think the time is ripe for that. Of course, I would prefer it if my threads ran their course. I have maybe two or three more installments to go. After Randy Rhoads, there's Yngwie Malmsteen, and then an overview of the pressure to theorize music that existed in the '80s, and a discussion of "shred" and the speed vs. emotion argument omnipresent when discussing technical playing.
EDIT: Jake: That's 'cause Ken's NEVER ONLINE. I haven't seen him mod R+M in a long while. Matter of fact, Bartender is still a "surrogate" mod because his name isn't even listed under R+M's mod domain.
