Incidentally, is your user title based on the Stiff Little Fingers song?
It's based on the Bob Marley song "Johnny Was". Is the Stiff Little Fingers song a cover or something?
EDIT: Yes it is

Yeah, I know. :upset:
I'll definately try that though. I'm getting really pissed off. We have the whole song recorded, in different parts, the majority of the song is complete, but I have to add the last part in and it won't let me do it.
EDIT: Ray - How is the theme song for the show coming along? I also wanted to ask you, how it is working? Are we just posting as if we are the characters, or is it more like an RPG?

I got to about page 300 hundred yesterday, then had to struggle to put it down and go to sleep.
/nerd.
I finished the new book at about 10 o'clock last night after purchasing it at 1:30 that morning. I'm sad I couldn't make myself savor it, and I'm especially upset because there's so much stuff that needs to be resolved that will take five years for me to find out, based on Rowling's rate of production.
The ending to this new one was extremely distressing. Nothing that I wanted to happen between the characters happened. I guess that's natural, to set up for the seventh book, but still. The waiting for the final installment will kill me.

Funny thing is, I'm not really that worked up about Harry Potter at the moment.
Mostly, I've been reading over a volume of H.P. Lovecraft stories that I had a hard time finding at first. And I just finished "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and am left to wonder why there hasn't been a movie about it yet.

Mostly stuff from the dream cycle and a few miscellaneous short stories which aren't part of the Mythos proper, but are nevertheless counted among it, such as "The Beast in the Caves," "Entombed with the Pharoahs," and "The Lurking Fear."
"The Lurking Fear" is another Lovecraft story I hope to one day make a film adaptation out of.

I guess Rowling had to write Dumbledore out of the script since the actual who played him in the movies died, heh.
Anyway, I should have expected by visiting MX that there'd be spoilers. I have yet to purchase the book, so I guess I'm in no rush now.

Ron sticks it to Lavender. But it's only because he thinks Hermione doesn't like him, but she does. And he likes her. But of course, by the end, Rowling continues to make the relationship question maddeningly difficult to predict. Harry gets into a very short-lived one with someone (won't say who) but the end throws that whole thing into question.

It was great stuff, but I just don't care anymore. I lost interest. Plus, more 600++ page books are the last thing I need. I'm busy with Christine, Salem's Lot and Dead Zone right now, all atleast 400 pages.
I couldn't read a HP book in one day. I'm capable, but I wouldn't do it. I've read entire two hundred page books in less than twenty four hours, but that's when I've had like a month to read a book for school and decide I'll finally read it the day before the test. Strangely, I passed the grade.

Aren't there death-eaters on the loose, and isn't Voldemort at full power? Where is the all fighting, dueling, etc?

Right now, I just played the funnest jam session ever. /cues circle time
It all began when the cable from my guitar to my processor began to puke out on me. I decided to take out my processor and just play guitar to amp. You know, kick it old school. My amp is a 10 watt Ibanez practice crapbox, so I was kind of sad about that, but instead, I just cranked up the volume and overdrive, and jammed for 20 minutes at full blast. I can't really describe how fun it was, but I'm sure some of you guys know what I'm talking about. Just sitting down, wailing on your guitar. It was amazing.
I may have the same amp as you.
Yeah, I know how you feel. You don't have to worry about equipment as much as what you're playing. It "frees your mind" so to speak.

if you like sci fi shows, and comedies, it is seriously the best show ever. Because while it is quite nerdy and science fiction-y, the humor can stand alone on its own even without all the sci fi stuff in it.
Plus the character of the cat is played by a guy who used to dance in the background for Wham! in the 1980s, so really, how can you beat that?
I got songs off iTunes for 'em, but the files are MPEG4 and worse, they're protected, so they can't be burned to disk, converted, or sent to anyone else.
Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong :)
Burn them to disk with iTunes. Why would you purchase a protected song and not be able to a) burn it to disk or b) move it to a portable device?
Just burn it to a CD-RW, then rip it onto the computer, and there you have .mp3 format. Easy as pie/cake/Iai's old avatar.
The thing is, the protected files can only be burned to disk no more than seven times.

Incorrect. I tried to burn those files to disk and it did not work. I made a playlist consisting of the songs I wanted to use, and the message I came up with was: "None of these songs can be burned to disk." And you CAN move it to a portable device: your iPod.
I'll give it another try, but it really did not work.
EDIT: I saw in the help section that you can burn the playlist seven times like you said, so I'm quite perplexed.

"Grunge" isn't a sound, really...Alice in Chains and Soundgarden (both fairly sludgy and Sabbath-y) don't sound very much like Nirvana (poor man's Meat Puppets) or Pearl Jam (poor man's Neil Young) at all. AiC's Facelift has been described as being more metal than grunge (even though I don't know enough metal to say for sure, it's pretty hard/heavy stuff).

Weren't they?
Not really. They had grunge-y characteristics, to be sure, but from what I can tell they seem to have been called grunge mostly to associate them more closely with the Seattle grunge bands that were gaining popularity, and boost record sales (which worked). They always sounded too metal, too heavy, to be grunge, though.
Soundgarden too, to a lesser extent.

Well, Randy of Lamb of God has a more deep screamy style of vocals, and they rely on cool riffs rather than a catchy hook. They are a little bit heavier too, and don't have the generic metalcore breakdowns as much. Plus they give a completely different vibe when listening to them.
Killswitch Engage's Howard has a strong chest voice that he uses alot more when singing. Also he uses a yelling type of technique but some times does the high pitched scream too. The band also does alot of generic metalcore breakdowns and they rely heavily on a catchy chorus. Lamb of God is a little more brutal but has alot less melody.
