Ah fair enough, sorry im just so used to people from europe thinking NJ is a part of NY, kinda sets me off a bit haha, no harm done though

See, you can't compare basketball and soccer...basket[ball is about sustained brilliance. You don't cheer one play (unless it's a buzzer-beater, obviously), you watch everything going on. Basketball is first and foremost a team sport, but in no other sport can one individual stand out within that context...I dunno, it's hard to explain why I love it so much.

The way i see it, you definitely can compare the two. They are both based upon the same basic principles, moving a ball from one end of the field to another and getting it into some sort of goal (which is how most sports are based upon). Difference being soccer uses the feet and basketball uses the hands. With the addition of a goal keeper though, soccer has that extra little added strategy needed in it, other than just being able to shoot on target.

To say that soccer is not a team sport first and foremost would be completely wrong, if you have ever played a game of soccer, then you know this. However, are you trying to tell me that soccer players cannot stand out within that same context? Does the name Beckham ring a bell at all? Or lets go back a bit further in time, Pelé.

See what I am gathering from this is that I like soccer for almost the exact same reasons you like basketball, however the thing that makes the hugest difference is the point system. With the big difference one point can make in soccer, it makes the points that are scored that much more exciting.

Although I have to admit, if you would have asked me to put sports in order of me liking them before i came to Europe to study, I would have definitely had soccer very low on the list, basketball would have been above it for sure, but still quite low because i was never into it. However due to there being no Baseball here, and the European NFL league just being more painful than the NY Giants to watch (which is impressive), your options for sports on television end up being pretty much Soccer, Snooker, Golf, and Tennis.

The european atmosphere surely got the best of me, and befriending all the irish lads here didnt help much either because they are into soccer more than anyone i have ever met is into any sport.

With all due respect, Derek Jeter never, EVER generates the same kind of hype David Beckham does. David Beckham is so well known, Americans who can't name one soccer player can name this guy. Didn't some nativity scene depict him as Joseph? He gets Michael Jordan-level hype but he's no Michael Jordan.

Rod. I mean granted A. Rod is doing great at 3rd, but seriously jeter makes too many dumb mistakes and errors, he doesnt hit exceptionally or anything. He is a nice solid player, but the amount of admiration he gets is just wrong and unjustified

He got exposed as a subpar perimeter defender this year. In the past Shaq would help clean up his mistakes.

While jeter does have his moments, which i wont lie, if you dont watch the entire yankees season you dont see all the stupid stupid things he does. Under pressure he does deliver, but that doesnt excuse all the mistakes he makes during the rest of the season: swinging at obvious balls that someone in single A would notice, dropping balls, missing easy grounders, throwing to first instead of second for an easy double play when his footing is in a decent spot. While I do not like A-rod as a person at all, by anymeans, as a player he is actually quite amazing, but he seems to be a bit more subtle about it than some more of the big guns.

Still, youre free to like whoever more, im just saying that Jeter is an extremely overrated player.

Hey 12x, i got my new computer. Its awesome, although im not on it currently. It has 3 case fans, a CPU fan and a graphics fan already, and alot more crazy lights than i thought. Runs smoothly too.

Just be careful about the 3 case fans, that many can suck a LOT of dust into your computer, which as we all know is very bad for your hardware. So always keep a can of compressed air handy.

Make sure you check what speed your memory is currently, because there is no sense in buying anything faster, thats just a waste of money because your RAM will only run as fast as the slowest piece in there.

I was a huge fan of Beckham for a while whilst he was at Man Utd, given that I support them- He tried to be bigger than the team though and Fergie was having none of that... he plays an important role for England still and is still an excellent player.

You see examples right here with 12 ounces, he went to Germany, a great footballing nation, and got converted to the game, The Americans need to watch it properly, there is nothing as tense and nerve-wracking to me than watching a United match, whether I'm at the ground,(only seen them once), seeing them on TV or listening on the radio-been like that since the age of 5...

Whatever, i got my forearm tattooed a couple months ago, and that is a bit more permanent. My mom still has no idea because she never asked about it even though she knew i was going to a tattoo convention. She probably assumed i got tattooed, again, but not somewhere so visible. Should be interesting to see her reaction when she picks me up at the airport.

There is a difference between tight pants and girls pants though, there is a large population of metalcore/hardcore fans now that genuinely buy their jeans in the girls department, and lowriders are also becoming very popular amogst those people who choose to wear the girls jeans

There is a difference between tight pants and girls pants though, there is a large population of metalcore/hardcore fans now that genuinely buy their jeans in the girls department, and lowriders are also becoming very popular amogst those people who choose to wear the girls jeans

Yeah theres this local band around here whos Drummer and Bass player are both totally heavy metal to the bone, but the guitarist is hardcore and the singer is just straight up emo, but has a metal scream.

They are actually a pretty good band too, but they label themselves "Emo-Metal" so a lot of people that would normally like them are totally turned off.

Then I suck, but at least as far as girls in new jersey go, im the epitomy of chick repellant so i have an excuse. Lets analyze shall we:

1) longish hair, that is only getting longer
2) Beard
3) tattoos
4) Wears normal colored clothing in normal sizes
5) does not listen to music for lyrical content
6) Even when admiriable lyrical content is found in the music listened to, its not love songs or crap like that so they dont consider it good lyrics.
7) 0% italian heritage (which actually is a huge deal near my parents house where its a huge italian population, many girls will not give you the time of day if you are not italian at all)
8) Drives an american car, not a rice burner
9) even though its an american sports car, it isnt "pimped out"
10) Chooses to ride a bicycle for short distances because i have no need to show off my car to go a quarter of a mile to a 7-11

yep, time to order me a russian mail order bride.

No joke, last time i went to buy a pair of sneakers, probably about a year ago, all I wanted was a nice all black pair of sneakers (or at least mostly black), and it was honestly easier for me to find pink sneakers or mostly pink sneakers than black ones. Something is wrong with that if you ask me.

I am not gothic, though I did used to wear eyeliner/spiked bracelets back in 8th grade, but that was before the whole wave of metalcore trendiness, and I grew out of that.

I like the trench coat though, it makes me seem mysterious.... lol, I dunno, I guess I could be considered weird, but that's just because I'm not into big trends.

I really don't like most of the kids that wear trench coats at my highschool. I don't have a problem with dressing somewhat nice or somewhat preppy (not annoyingly preppy). I usually wear something along the lines of jeans and a t-shirt/polo shirt/ button down occasionally.

I also wear a trench coat fairly often, but it is more of a duster and I have a reason to wear it since it rains alot here in Oregon. They work a hell of alot better then a normal coat thats for sure.

So, my new computer rules. £400, and it can run Far Cry at high specs, i love this. But, since it was used in a internet café, the W,A,S and D keys have worn of because of people playing too many FPS'. :(

And yes, In Chains, that made not much sense, and didn't hold much truth. They are more of an experimental band now, but i believe they used to be a more melodic form of Black Metal.

Best album IMO : Sham Mirrors, although everyone else likes 'La Masqurade Infernal.'

Good Afternoon thread,

I am going to the theatre tonight to see an adaptation of Terry Pratchett's wonderful book Maskerade, should be fantastic, 4 hours long though...

I have spent drama lessons today listening to music and creating improvised pieces and still pictures out of songs, I used The black chamber by blind guardian, wait for sleep by dream theater and bruce- navigate the seas of the sun. I had to listen to the girls' crappy coldplay though (my drama class is 4 girls (2 of them hot) and me :cool: )
we used radiohead-creep too...

Well I think I like OK Computer a bit more than Kid A, if that helps any. I wanted to either get the Bends or Amnesiac, and pretty much just randomley chose Amnesaic.

As i said a few pages back, since we have Fries, Chips, and Crisps in america, whereas in europe there is just Fries and Chips, or as they would call them Chips and Crisps, when in america you have to make the clear distinction. Its just like the difference between orange juice and orange drink (another thin a lot of europeans cant wrap their brains around).

However if i hear someone with a UK or irish accent say chips, i know exactly what they mean, just like likewise when they hear an american say chips, they know we dont mean fries.

Considering that the UK, Ireland, and Australia are all very similar types of english, including spellings (although australia is a bit more different, but still its closer to british english than american english), and its just the US and canada who speak differently, compounded with the fact that over here in europe they teach british english not american english, it has come to my attention that we americans are perhaps a bit wrong in the way we speak.

Sounds like an encryption problem because both involve signing up through encrypted forms. Go to your internet security settings in your web browser and set the encryption protection on the weakest level, as in the one that will allow you the access to the most pages. If that doesnt work, you will want to reset to the default encryption level.
