At the bottom of your user CP there will be a section showing which post you got repped for, and a message why.
You'll have 10 rep because all new accounts, made from May onwards I think, were automatically credited with 10 rep.
Why is that?

they are just numbers, as long as you're having a good time the forums do their work...
munky_magik

Why is that?
Ask MX.
And even if they don't sign your rep it still shows up in your user CP.
Rep is short for reputation points, where respected, intelligent, and helpful users recieve points from moderators, and if you achieve an elite level, you get four stars under your name, like the mods (except they have five). It used to be that users would just be able to rep each other, but of course no one was responsible about it and everyone whored themselves off until everyone had stars. When that happened, the system became meaningless because it was no indication of who was a actually a productive user. A lot of vets of this thread who are no longer here would likely tell you that the tendency to spam and the overwhelming number of new users who have gotten into the thread over time started with the rep fiasco.
Everybody here knows those who retained stars because of the glitch in the rep system, so the first person to get four stars solely from mod rep will either be lambasted as a whore or will be genuinely a great user. But the mods are VERY stingy with the rep they give out, and so it's unlikely that it'll be a quick thing before people start getting their stars. I've got a ways to go.
When you get stars, you yourself can rep other people. The rep you give out is a fraction of the rep that you have, and since the mods pick who's going to get stars, the idea is that only those deemed responsible enough to have the stars in the first place will be the ones who are able to rep, so no abuse occurs.

Eh, I don't have any rep, I guess. I used to have stars back before the revamp, and I guess that was cool and "important", but I generally don't do much to deserve any rep these days. I guess.

It's only if they sign off the rep. Go to user CP and it will tell you where you were last repped. Once in that thread, find the post where you were repped and see who did it and why. I've never gotten a message.
I didn't see anything to tell me where I was last repped. It's ok though.

A new wave track, you mean? That's the way you overrecord. You delete the block that you stuffed up in, and the re-recording fills that space. Then you can merge them together.

Dr. Jake Destructo

No no no no...That will take out the secion and mess up the timing of it all. select the messed up section, and go to effects-->amplify and in the Dbs box, type in -24. You may have to do this 2 times to get it totally silent, and I'm sure there is a short cut for just silencing a section, but this is easy enough.

Yep, the cursor should look like a text one, and just pick the exact spot you want to delete from, highlight, and then just delete that block. Or, you can just use the silence command (ctrl-c), which stops you from having to realign the tail end of the block...

Leah- Not a completely seperate WAV file. Just highlight the part that you want to record over(after silencing it) and click the record button again. You get a second track in the same file. You may want to highlight a little section before the exact part you're recording over so you have time to get situated with your guitar/mic/whatever else.

I actually have not heard of them. The only Celtic rock I was looking at was Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy when he was with the band, and then a handful of power metal outfits with blatant Celtic counterpoint. Maybe you could upload some tracks?
EDIT: My real love is for ambient, modern Celtic music. The kind of Celtic that falls under the New Age tag. And New Age isn't all muzak, BTW, just in case any of you were scared. :p There's a lot of fine musicians working in that framework, like David Arkenstone, Will Ackerman, and others.
I was thinking of a list of the different types of songs in Celtic folk (reels, airs, etc.) and then providing an example sample song of each from the various artists I'm covering.

Uh, yeah, but I think that magictroll is going to do it for me. If that changes, I'll let you know. Unforunately, I don't know how to get a hold of him to let him know that I can't have the recording done by tomorrow.
I always get invited to those, but I'm never around. By the time I get back from work or whatever, the party is over.
Well, I'm attempting to get a MSN name right now. But by the time I do, I'm sure that my parents will be home and then I will have to get off. They get freaked when they don't know who I'm talking to. Frankly, it's annoying.

I'm new to AIM: how do I join?
Yeah, that's right. I'm doing a series of FAs on artists that work in primarily Celtic and New Age veins. And in terms of genre, I would do an FG except Celtic music is an extremely broad term and I wouldn't be doing a group-oriented study of its evolution. It's too big a genre. Therefore, what I was talking about was an introduction to its musical style, in theoretical and melodic terms.

It's easier walking on the track than on a tredmill, because on a treadmill I can just say **** it and get off, whereas I'm motivated to go around to 2 mile track atleast twice. I can do it walking around my neighborhood by just walking far out and I can't stop because I have to get back to my house. Yay.

True. It's way too hot to walk. Summer sucks big time. No one wants to go outside because it's too hot, so you sit inside. Then people get on your case because they say you spend too much time inside, and you need to get some "fresh air". Personally, I'll choose AC over humidity anyday.

No, not really. It's not much of a metal song, I just like it because I haven't been able to showcase my fingerpicking playing very effectively anywhere else. I'm just excited, and enthusiastic. Chris has become quite the guitar beast recently, however, and if he nails "Taste of my Scythe" and if I warble on my vocals it will be pretty for him and not so for me. :)

I used to sing in chorus, and I was pretty good because Les Miserables was my favorite musical and I'd sing along spot-on to all of Javert's parts. Unfortunately, I haven't sung in a while (not since I performed Javert in Les Mis, actually), and so my voice has lost a great deal of its bass range, control, and projection. So we'll see. If I can't get anything that sounds good, I simply won't submit a song. Simple as that.

Its the capital of the USA. Its inbetween Maryland and Virginia, its not part of either state, and its not its own state.
Yes, the "Washington" part is a reference to George Washington, the first president and so a fitting namesake for our place of government, and the "DC" is short for "District of Columbia" in reference to Crístobar Cólon (aka Christopher Columbus ;) ), the "discoverer" of America the land.
