didn't you try to rep Gur and fail?
why the crappy connection anyway?
Did I?
And this is the only connection I've ever had at home.
Part of it is because I've never been to one, which is why I asked everyone earlier about what happens at a wedding and the following reception (besides the obvious that they glamorize on TV and in the movies), particularly you since I know you went out to California for one.
And part of it is that it's in another state.
And part of it is that I hate a vast majority of my extended family. They're very quirky and rather embarrassing to be around.
I know that doesn't sound like it's saying much coming from me, but it's true. They'll do and say things that I can't even imagine saying or doing.
And plus, since alcohol is going to be served at this wedding, something bad is going to happen. Like with my cousin's (the bride's) father. That man cannot hold his liquor and past events have been, well, not so good.
My aunt is also paranoid and doesn't shut up.
And I really don't like my extended family.
Basically, everyone's nerves are going to be shot, and I'm going to hate it because a) I'm going to have no clue what's going on, b) I don't want to be there in the first place, and c) I have to drive five hours to get there.
But I'll get over it. I just don't like thinking about it.

My close family are all Irish. At weddings, they queue up at the bar, get a drink, then join the end of the queue again.
All that happens at wedding receptions is you talk to people and pretend to like them/be nice to them, old people get drunk and dance so you can laugh at them, and there's free food so stop complaining.

Ah.
Well, I'd like to say that there's nothing to worry about, but clearly ther eis.
Nah, I'm not worried about anything, I just don't want to go and have to deal with all that. It's basically laziness on my part, but I just don't want to go. If it was in my state, I couldn't care less. But I don't want to go another state for a cousin's wedding who I haven't seen in at least a year, surrounded by an annoying extended family.
And plus, the groom has ten other siblings, so his family is going to be humongous, to say the least. I hope they aren't as paranoid as mine are.
But again, I really don't have anything to worry about, I just have no say in what goes on lately.
Holy **** Jom, your family sounds crazier than mine.
Heh, everyone's family is crazy some way or another, but mine is just plain weird.
Again, that probably doesn't mean much coming from me, so I guess it's hard to understand what I mean.
Why not just sit back and enjoy the ride? If everyone is all tense around you, just relax and take it all in. That's what I do, anyways.
But I don't want to goooooooooooooo (for reasons in this post and what I've mentioned already).

Okay, maybe you have an awesome extended family like Ray has or something, but you're not getting the gist of my rant, I don't think.
I'll be alright. I'm just not thrilled.
And Jom, it will be fine. There's always hot girls at weddings, free food and sometimes free booze. My family embaress me all the time, but ill get over it.
The only nice thing out of the reception is that if it gets irritating all I have to do is go upstairs to the room, since the reception is at the same place as where we're staying.

I like weddings. There's always a bunch of joyous drunk people, and then some sad drunk people. By the end of it, everyone's drunk and having a good time. At least that's what I've come to know about weddings.
My older cousin was telling me about one of his friend's weddings. The groom was a massive drinker(not alcoholic, but you know, just out of college..) and after the wedding, all of the best men and bridesmades, and the bride and groom of course went drinking. I guess they got totally smashed, go figure, and when the bride and groom got back to the hotel, the groom jumped into bed(yes, literally) and split his forehead open on the headboard.
Their honeymoon was slightly delayed because he had to get 10 or so stitches. :-/

Well, my guitar was an extremely popular item at the time, so it got backordered first. Then, I think FedEx shipped it to the wrong sorting plant or something(I was tracking it on their website day by day) so that was another delay. I wouldn't expect it to take as long as mine did. Beleive me, it was a long time, but it was worth the wait.
In my old city, the high school there held swimming lessons for little kids.
One time, one of the kids dropped a load in the pool and they had to drain the pool, and clean and sanitize it.
A day after the pool got re-filled and re-chlorinated, there was another suspicious item at the bottom of the pool that looked like, well, ****. So they re-drained the pool.
Turns out it was a Baby Ruth bar.
It was all over the city's newspaper that week.

Heh, my friends on the swim team (girls mind you) like to bring fake poo (the plastic molded stuff) and drop it in the pool in hopes the more conservative members of the team will see it and freak out so that when that member goes to tell the coach, the poo can be retrieved and cause confusion. Funny but bitchy at the same time. Our school makes swimming mandatory for all grade levels. As Juniors and seniors though, we don't have to take lessons, we play pool games like polo and basketball. of course this one (http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=43.092459,-76.205978&spn=0.450780,0.797882&hl=en) is the most polluted lake in the US I believe. It's about an hour and a half from me.

My grandmother's will said that any of her children that wanted to co-own then property could but them and my family were the only ones interested. They told us that if we owned part of it, they would own none of it and we couldn't afford the whole thing so they bought it and refuse to have anything to do with us. It was beautiful there too.

I was looking at one of Riva's links of an argument between Steerpike and some guy, but I saw that...

Well, today was cool. Me and my buddy Mason went to see Batman Begins, which was an okay movie, then hung out in the world's most boring mall. Then we went back to my house and walked around the nieghborhood. About a block from my house some guy ran by, his tits bouncing, and I whispered to Mason something about the tits. The guy ran about a block more, then turned around and ran up to us.
Guy: Which of you likes talking the ****?
Me: Uh, I don't know.
Guy: Well I came over to ask who was talking ****.
Mason: What did we say?
Guy: I don't care if you're kids, I'll kick both your asses right here and I'm 37.
Mason: What did we say?
The guy ran off. :amaze:
Dear God(s), (all of them), I just found out who Richard Whiteley was by googling his name. I'm so sorry, Bartender.... I don't know how you can cope without his grinning face on Countdown anymore. Gosh, I feel so awful for not comforting you more.

MetalFan, if you havent really been drunk before, i dont really suggest going straight to hard liquor, you should learn your limits first.
Therefore, i suggest you try something a bit weaker, but still sweet tasting. A good thing would be get yourself a Bulmers Cider, which i believe in the majority of europe is actually called Magners for some reason.
Its an irish alcoholic apple beverage which has about the same alcohol content of beer, but tastes much sweeter. Plus on a hot day you seriously cant beat a bulmers in a glass with a ton of ice.

The only things i know are the same things a 4 year old would know, such as "Get over here!" "Sit down!" "Stop That!" and what not, but the greek alphabet did stick in my head very well for some reason.
Edit:
And I have been to holland a few times, it is true you can get marijuana in bars, well "coffeeshops" they are called but not for free. You just go in and ask for a menu, and they show you a list of what they have along with prices. Then just buy whatever you want.

Yeah grammar is hard for me, i have the same problem with german. Words i can pick up extremely quickly. Like within a month of me being here my vocabulary skyrocketed, but even after a year i still make horrendous grammar mistakes.
