Hey, there's no need to be elitist. I mean, sometimes it's good that nobody else hears what I'm listening to, like if I'm listening to some whacked-out, bizarre bands like The Mars Volta or Mr. Bungle. I'd prefer to not get funny looks from people when they hear the band or even just the name.
But if it's a band that few people know about, but really should because they would probably enjoy it, then I get a bit more forward about wanting others to hear them. Like the PT song "Trains" or the band ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. Fun for all ages!

Radio around here actually isnt bad. Ive found about 4 stations that play music I listen to, which suites me fine since I cant drive yet and only listen to the radio during summer when I sit around my room all day. They mostly play bands "main hits", but sometimes they'll play a lesser known, but better song. Too many commercials though.

In Cleveland we have 2 decent stations, neither of them are good though. 92.3 Extreme Radio plays newer type metal like Breaking Benjamin, Chavelle, and some classics like Enter Sandman, Man in a Box. It has Rovers Morning Glory, which is this hilarious radio show on in the mornings.
Then there is 100.7 WMMS. It plays some good music, a lot of Metallica and Rage, some other good things too. Every Saturday from 11-12 they play only Metallica which is sweet.

(ding!) "That is correct!"
There you have it...no one knows.

12Ounces - You live near the Jersey Shore? Are you completely loaded? I spent 2 weeks there one summer for an aunts marriage and everyone seems so insanely rich. My whole extended family lives in Jersey (mostly around Morristown) and my parents used to live there too but now we're in central New York.
Where near the jersey shore are you talking about? I live in a town called Toms River, which is right next to seaside, and seaside is a total dump (i mean medical supplies wash up on shore every couple of years), toms river while it is a bit expensive, since it isnt really a shore town since we still have to cross a bridge to get to the beach (although its like a 5 minute drive), so it isnt that expensive of a place to live.
I do however wish i was loaded.
Well, in reply to the maddening talk of Radio Stations, my local classic rock station pwns all your bases. Well the first band I was in Owen just picked up bass and eddie just picked up drums. Now eddie has stopped playing, Owen still plays but not in a band and he is the best bassist in our school no question (there is only 2 but meh) and he is a great bassist eddie was crap. I can roar and growl etc. kinda well and do a baritone voice which can get on your nervers fairly quickly.
The band im in now is that they kicked out my friend carly (other guitarist) so I could be in. They wanted me to play bass but I didnt want to.

My best friend and I both play guiar. Somone in the grade above us who was in my Math class played drums and was into the same music, so i asked if he wanted to play in a band with us and he said he would. Then we were singer and bassist less for a while, but we found our singer by putting an add up on-line and we found our bassist through a mutual friend.

exactly, when i was 13-14 i was able to get into a band with a bunch of 18-19 year olds just because we had similar music tastes and my playing ability was enough for the band. I mean i am sure it was weird for like 19 year old college kids to be like "Yeah the guitarist of the band is in 7th grade", but i mean whatever.

Well red dwarf is one of my favorite shows, except for like season 7, while some of the episodes were okay, most of them were pretty crap, like especially the one where Rimmer leaves to become Ace Rimmer.
I hope the Red Dwarf movie actually happens though, like i know its written and what not, but if you go to the RD website there is no new information on it since like 2003.
At least it will have Norman Lovett as Holly, because basically he's fantastic

The music was soooo boring. So boring. It was just like 'Shred, sweeps, sweeps, solo, solo, solo.'

The songs were too long.
Just when you start getting into a song, it changes time signature, or just changes completly.
Their singer is so annoying. And overweight.

I haven't heard nearly enough metal to pass judgement; I've heard a lot of what I hope are dumbed-down metal bands - Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, all that kind of stuff. The way I see it maybe if I delve deeper into metal I can find some stuff that's pretty cool.

Nah, it's alright. So long as you guys gave it a legitimate shot, no one can fault you there for having an opinion.
However, if someone didn't give an artist or genre a legitimate listen, wouldn't you act the same way if someone like this blasted your favorite artist/genre? Most likely, right?
It just works for all genres. In the end, it's all good, so long as you give things a legit shot before judging.
Anyway, here's the final thread for RMOTM and NRMOTM, if anyone cares.

I have no positives for dance music though- there is no excuse for that.
On the topic of rap, something I just found out today, Coolio completely stole (I guess he didn't steal it since he probably permission) Pastime Paradise from Stevie Wonder and just changed the lyrics to make Gangsta's Paradise. He didn't just sample it, the music is exactly the same. He also got a grammy for it, wtf?
...and he has the nuts to get all pissy with Wierd Al for Amish Paradise.

Since I mentioned RATM, I realized that I am pretty glad that they went their seperate ways...I think that by the time Renegades rolled around, they were running out of ideas in terms of new music and topics. You can only go so long with writing about the same political subjects, and even though Morello keeps shelling out new effects, his playing in Audioslave has become quite monotonous, IMO. Hes basically used up every combination of single note riffs on the bottom quarter of the fretboard. :p
