Good call on the name, this thread has been in a terrible state. I seriously think that bans should be given out to the large scale spammers. I also completely agree with Cain's entire post above me :)
So I have found out that on Tuesday I have to stand in a room with 60 fellow pupils, head teacher (and other key staff at my school), professional artists and the press and talk through my scuplture designs. This is so friggin' scary :(

That's crazy, MXican. I wouldn't be able to do it. The talking in front of people thing wouldn't bother me, it would be the talking about something that I designed part that would get me. I hate talking about the things that I create. I'm one of those who prefers a "to each his own" philosophy when it comes to understanding art.
Also, I agree with everything Cain said. This thread needs to become considerably less hostile.

Guitar Pro is the single most useful program when it comes to learning guitar and composing music. Finale gets honorable mention, but it's too confusing to me. The percussion tracks in GP can be confusing at first, but then you'll become a loser like me and have all the main codes memorized (42=closed hihat, 38=snare, 36=bass, etc).

 Yeah, I still need to figure it out some. What I already found out is what will become most useful...taking the tempo down. haha. I already downloaded some Bodom tabs, Machine Head, Stratovarius, Killswitch Engage and Iron Maiden. Unfortunately, I probably won't have time to work with it today. :upset:

There's a feature that lets you slow the tempo down to whatever you want it at, then increase it slowly each time you play it. A speed-training feature, I believe it's called. It's either F9 or F10 that brings this up.

Like I said, I'm not going to respond to anything through this thread. I'll address a couple things, but other than that, I propose burying everything.
Maybe a lot of you didn't read my entire big post. That's fine.
Come here to talk about your day, your girlfriend, your boyfriend, your partner, your family, your friends, your music aspirations, whatever the hell you want, provided that you don't act stupid about it. That's what this thread is for.
If people don't care about you, they can easily ignore you. There's an ignore list feature, and there's also a ready-made ignore feature built inside your brains. Use either one if you don't give two shits and a **** about whatever someone is talking about. Just pass over it and move on.
Even though AH has spammed on many occasions before.
If you guys can pinpoint in this exact thread where I've spammed to the extent of casting spells, smiley posts, "cuz ur gay rite?! rite?!", telling newcomers to "log off / never post again," or anything that I described in that big post, I'll eat crow, admit my faults, give you a table dance, whatever.
When Cain signs back on to AIM, I'll have a word with him. I can answer his statements, and ask him for clarifications, and so on. I'm relieved that he posted what he did. I concede to a number of things he said, and he will likely concede to things I'll tell him in return. In the end, there'll be compromise. I'll look forward to it, because he's a genuinely good guy.
This is just an example of a) how fickle people can be, and b) how people can reach an understanding through IM:
[01:27] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: no I'm serious. I actually had new found respect for you after your huge post about the thread.
[01:28] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: I came off sounding like a dick in the thread, I'm sure.
[01:28] Antihero /// My whole life I've made mistakes: No, not really.
[01:28] Antihero /// My whole life I've made mistakes: I don't think little of you or anything, so just say what's on your mind and I'll respect it.
[01:28] Antihero /// My whole life I've made mistakes: Stop bull****ting.
[01:29] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: ok. like I said. your post. I had respect blaw blaw
[01:29] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: and then "hey idiots, watch me whore this thread"
[01:29] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: not the smart thing to do the day after.
[01:31] Antihero /// My whole life I've made mistakes: I'm going to get peoples' attentions. Like I said in the big post, just use your brain to ignore list me. I don't care. But no one in that ****hole of a thread recognizes the work and effort that goes into these users' songwriting.
[01:32] Antihero /// My whole life I've made mistakes: The point is, this is a musician's community. If no one is going to make an effort to support fellow musicians, then something is wrong here.
[01:33] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: ok I see where you're coming from, but why didn't you say that in the thread instead of to me? let's face it, myself and most mxers just read what's on the label
[01:33] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: we're not going to look into what your real motives were
[01:33] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: and I know you don't care
[01:33] Antihero /// My whole life I've made mistakes: And by not electing to listen to listen to their songs for a few minutes, that's horse****, considering it takes hours upon hours to record.
[01:37] Antihero /// My whole life I've made mistakes: There's no point in arguing about it.
[01:37] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: truth
[01:37] <Dr. Jake Destructo>: I've seen your viewpoint, I've shown you mine.
That's really all I ask. If you have something to say, say it. The only person who I don't respect as a human being is everyone's buddy CemetaryGates.
Everyone in some form or another knows each others' AIM/MSN handles, and everyone in some form or another is easily accessible through a medium such as that. If you have a disagreement, just take it there.
Now, I don't really want anyone to respond to all that.
///
I'll make the motion, and the effort, to not let this petty stuff carry on anymore.
///
This is what I want people to respond to:
My cousin's wedding is in two weeks. I hate weddings. But I'm happy for my cousin, because she's alright with me. And my cousin-in-law-to-be is a good guy, so I'm glad for both of them, really.
Problem is, I've never been to a wedding and to its reception ever.
I need some help. And quickly, please. I know Ray went to California for a wedding, so I'm sure he can help me out.
But this goes to anyone. Can someone walk me through a wedding, the reception, and maybe some helpful advice for getting through both? I'm basically wearing the same thing I wore for Homecoming of senior year a couple years ago, which I luckily can still fit into, because everybody goes crazy for a sharp-dressed man

Well, the wedding itself is in a church...sometimes it's combined with a mass (it was at my cousin's wedding), and sometimes relatives of the bride or groom read stuff (I don't remember it all that well to be honest). Then the bride and groom make their entrances, they exchange vows, "Do you take [blank] to be your lawfully wedded wife", and so on.
The reception takes place somewhere else, and that's where everyone mingles, the best man and bride of honor both give their speeches, the cake is cut, and then everyone eats, drinks, and dances til late at night (at my cousin's and my gf's cousins it was until about 1-2 in the morning).
(I love Dunkin Donuts )

My truck doesn't have an AC, so I just drive fast with the windows down. Same effect.
AC just made it more badass, man!
Eh, it wasn't my choice to get rid of it, backe when I was in California, I visited my grandpa's place a lot, and he lived in a country club. He fixed the golf cart up pretty good, and I rode it all the time, and most of the time I drove it, I thought it would be a good idea to smash it into every lightpole I saw in the country club, sometimes goin' full speed (yeah I'm an idiot BUT IT'S FUNNNN REFL!). So after a while, the windshield fell off ( ) and the neighbors complained about the half broken light poles. My grandpa decided to sell the thing.
Ever since then I have wanted a golf cart, and I swear the next time I get one, I'm putting a ****ing hemi in that sum'bitch.
Now Watching: King of The Hill.

I'm sick of Family Guy by now. I've seen the old episodes too many times and heard too many fanboys praising it like it was the greatest cartoon ever. The fact that the new episodes don't even measure up to the old ones is proof that The Simpsons was always the better show. It took them more than three seasons to start going downhill, I can say that much!
Also, Futurama was awesome and anyone who doesn't like it (but still likes Family Guy?!) is messed up.

Wierd, I know
@ my dad.
He goes to me today "So Jake, do you have any sweet dates tonight?" (he asks me like every other day just to rub in the fact that I have no social life during the summer)
Me: Yeah. I got one for my fist and your face all lined out!
Him: Awesome. Where are we going?
Me: The House of Blues. *shakes fist*
Him: lozl

"And the peaceful disciples said, "The peace I have, the peace I give to you...as we eat Reese's Pieces with the Lord. And I have a piece of lint in my peaceful eye!"
"We had snack. Yep, we'd be in the middle of mass and the priest would drop everything and say, "Let's have some yum-yuuuum's! I've made snaaaaack!" And so you'd go up and get in line, and you'd eat your Crouton-O-Christ!

I'll have to figure out the title so I can track down the album.
Anyway, Mystery Men came out in 1999. Critics hated it, but it's a cult classic simply because Kinka Usher's vision and directing just had this sublime connection with all the actors. Geoffrey Rush's performance as the supervillain, Casanova Frankenstein, stole every scene he was in.

Sometimes I feel kind of like that, only instead of never wanting to be around anyone, I only want to be around strangers...like, I'll just walk through the city or ride the bus aimlessly. I actually sort of like that humbling feeling that you're just one person in a big city....I wish I could explain it.

That explains it fine. I love being around strangers: there's always the promise of meeting someone's eye, or seeing someone and realizing what their story is. Walking around airports is amazing. You can follow people around and figure out what they're doing, because all walks of life go to airports, not just one kind of person like the way neighborhoods are.

I follow. I thought think that is partof what I want, but I also want to try total solitude. My reasons for wanting to be a complete stranger seem different than yours though. I like being a complete stranger because I'm really outgoing and like to forcemyself to meet and charm new people. If even one person I know is around, it doesn't work but if I know nobody, the charm comes out and I like it. I like attracting people I'll never see again and I have no desire to see them again. For me the strager side of things ismore like a conquest.
Jake: that sounds like the crazy urge that swells in me to jump from a mountain peak after a long hike. I felt it particularly strong when I walked up Mt. Katahdin, Maine's highest peak. I get a similar feeling in the company of strangers. Only for me it isn't the humbling aspect. I go out into public and think of the stories every person, every object, and every place has to tell. And I feel like one of the people life has chosen to tell those stories.

Yes, go see Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Brewer. It's a very worthwhile movie.
In regards to the inner peace thing: I get that feeling just driving aimlessly. I mean, it's hard in the city, but as soon as you find a quiet expressway or country road away from the city, then it's good times.
And I'm sure I speak for most of you when I say that you find some form of peace and solitude in your writing, be it musical or just jotting stuff down on a piece of paper.
There is no peace to be found in loneliness. Solitude? Maybe. But not peace.
I think I would find peace just lying in the arms of my girlfriend.
To be honest, I think I've just realized that I love her. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, indeed.

Yeah, being alone is not the same as feeling lonely.
Right, right. If you're content with being alone, then that's a positive thing. But if you're lonely, I can't imagine one feeling all that content, right? Or am I just shooting blanks again?
I probably should retire to my chambers. I just had a worthwhile discussion that lasted longer than it probably should have, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I learned from it and appreciated it.
And that was a rambly sentence.

Oh man, if this is true then I am going to die when my gf leaves in July.
Yeah, but it's a good missing. Like, she's not here, and the way it makes me feel is that there's nothing I could possibly do by myself or with any of my friends or family that would give me the kind of sexual thrill, inner peace, and utter contentment of lying with and being with my girlfriend. It makes me ache with anticipation towards the next time we see each other. It's a bittersweet longing.

Point out where he, or I, or anyone else asking you not to spam, has said "I've never spammed, so you shouldn't either" and I'll accept your point. The point is that we've cut down on unacceptable posting and spamming in this thread.
Already? That seems a ridiculously short length of time.
Well it's just been re-checked, and now it looks like it finishes on Wednesday, which is still a bit short :(
As for all the Family Guy/Simpsons/etc discussion, I love the Simpsons, and Family Guy, and Futurama. I don't really see the need to constantly compare them, but at the same time I'm getting more annoyed with people who keep dismissing the Simpsons as nothing compared to all the shows that followed them. All good shows, basically.
Dane Cook sucks.

I was never a huge fan of Futurama. I like what I have seen of the Family Guy, although they only showed the first season, then took it off the air here in Australia.

Trillian > all messenger programs.
You should check it out abortion, it lets you sign into AIM, MSN, ICQ and use IRC all at once.
Gaim is far superior to trillian in every way. I had trillian for a while because of my multiple messaging program needs, and once i made the switch to Gaim i never even thought about touching trillian again.
Enjoy: http://gaim.sourceforge.net/

Well, at least you still got to do it. Did you have to do it in front of a class, or was it just you and a teacher?
Just me and the teacher. /late

How did it go?
Just read all the post up until this point. Good stuff. Unfortunately, it wasted most of the time I had designated to being on here. :p

Ah, cool. I hate doing presentations in front of large audiences. Nervousness just comes by and swings a sledge at my kneecaps. :(

Yeah, I find that's happened to me quite a lot recently too. Suddenly realise I've been on nearly half an hour and all I've done so far is check Site, or something.
I've also just realised recently that I haven't bought any new albums for quite a while, now.

RCA: I used to hate it. I don't mind so much anymore.

It went alright, I think. It was weird, my translation was so weird, none of the sentences seemed to connect to eachother. But the professor was still like "Yes", "Yeah", "Hmm, yes, go on"...
So I think it was ok. I'm just glad they didn't make a problem out of the lateness.
Also, I hate oral exams, but not as much as oral presentations, that's a fact. Usually oral exams go better, for some reason, though.

Yeah, it kinda gets better if you do them more through the year because you get comfortable with your audience. I still get nervous before them anyways.

Well, I've been invited to a family meeting. Not my family, my girlfriend's, so I'm off. <-<

I always hated oral exams the most, too. I was always really good in them, though.
Enjoy meeting whatever family it is you're meeting.

And I'm sure I speak for most of you when I say that you find some form of peace and solitude in your writing, be it musical or just jotting stuff down on a piece of paper.
There is no peace to be found in loneliness. Solitude? Maybe. But not peace.
Wow, sounds like you guys had some deep converstations while I was gone. I agree completely, and trust me, I would know.
How's everyone this morning? Anything interesting going on?

My German teacher (one of them) used to make hand motions for "past tense", "present tense", "future tense", etc. She was pretty cool.

Well, she WAS a German teacher.

I never learnt German... for some reason, I am terrible at learning languages, despite being bilingual
