Quit your whining, all of you. I had a great day today, and I plan on continuing this "great day" trend. Also, Lochness is a great song.

10. Lochness

Grey mist drifts upon the water
The mirrored surface moves
Awakened of this prescence
Dispelling legends proof

A beastly head of onyx
With eyes set coals of fire
It's leathered hide
Glides glistening
Ascends the heathered briar

This legend lives
Through centuries
Evoking history's memories
Prevailing in eternities on and on and on

Lochness confess your terror of the deep
Lochness distress
Malingers what you keep
Lochness protects monstrosity
Lochness confess to me

Somehow it heeds the piper
From battlements that call
From side to side it ponders
Impassioned in the skirl

This highland lair of mystery
Retains a lost world's empathy
Resiliant to discovery on and on and on

This legend lives
Through centuries
Evoking history's memories
Prevailing in eternity
Your secret lies safe with me

This creatures peril from decease
Implores to mankind for release
A legacy to rest in peace and on and on and on

Studying is unneccesary. Download Finale Notebook for free and learn by doing. It becomes quite easy since you have MIDI playback for the notes you type in. It's how I program my drums for songs.

That's true, I just like standard notation a lot better because all the rhythms are already all there, you can show it to any reading musician and he/she will know how to play it, and it's honestly much easier to write and experiment with notes and melodies and rhythmic variations with it all mapped out for you on paper.

Really? I read it and found it fairly accurate and appreciated how straight forward you were. Meh, you're still a cool guy.

Thanks. It's just that Jim deleted the post I was responding to, indicating to me that even if he read what I said he wasn't going to start getting all involved in that kind of thing again. It wasn't doing anyone any good by being there, certainly, insofar as it was a pretty rant-y type thing in the middle of the usual freewheeling flow of the thread. I decided to delete it.

I feel bad though, as I consider Jim a friend.

I'm pretty satisfied with my level after two years of playing. I honestly get a lot of people telling me I'm amazing.

I think my playing level isn't where it belongs because lately, I've been writing and recording rather than practicing. MY composition skills have increased and my ear is gettign better but my technical skill is staying stagnant and I can no longer sweep pick at all. It's alright, I was never very good.

Today I plugged my bass into a guitar amp with a guitar distortion pedal. By playing with distortion in the middle register of the bass I could get some really crunchy guitar sounds. Sort of like a really low-tuned metal guitar, but on the bass!

Tomorrow, my band is playing at some kind's party who lives over an hour away. He went to middle school with us which is how we know him. SHould be fun. I'll sleep in tomorrow and take a nap to be well rested. I think we changed our band name too. From Space Holder to Translation Optima

Find either a jazz guitarist or someone who majored in composition. They know the most about theory and will give you the skills to diversify what you learn from them. Getting some college kid who only knows rock and blues won't help that much because they can't give you every voicing of a Cmin (Maj7) chord that exists and tell you what scales each chord are found in.

As in post pictures of yourself? There's usually a thread or two floating round in the pit. There was also an MX photobucket account at somepoint, but I don't know if it's ever updated anymore.

Yeah I miss the NHL. Seriously, even the bars here in Canada are losing money becuase of the lockout. People used to go to watch hockey, but since there's no NHL here... Also, I'm a leaf fan and I saw a shirt I needed, but had no money with me. It said "Toronto Maple Leafs. Underfeated season 2004/2005." :p

Im a die-hard Sabres fan. We must battle to the death!

Lol, i remember the good old days, the fights between Rob Ray and Tie Domi, and just the pure hatred on the ice between the two teams. One of my favorite rivalries in all of sports. Hockey rivalries always seem to intrigue me though, because you are ALLOWED to fight.

The games back in the late nineties between the Avalanche and the Wings owned everything. They had the fights where even the goalies skated over and got involved. Those fights were bloody.

You call Domi an ugly arrogant punk, which he is, as obvious throughout his career, but look at Brashear. Didn't he hit someone in the face with a stick? Hes also not that good. If I had my choice of enforcers I would take Todd Bertuzzi.

The NHL will start on time next season. I have confidence it'll work out.

///

For those of you who are ranting about the NBA Finals: shut up and don't watch, then.

Not everything has to be run-and-gun. I'd rather see a final score totalling in the 170's than a final score in the 230's. I like defense, but that's just because every position I've played in my years of sports has held a defensive mindset. Two points for a takedown. One point for a reversal. Keep a low base. Protect the quarterback. Rush the passer. Drill whoever has the ball. Gun down the base stealer. Front up the post player. Take charges. And so on and so forth.

I'm not entertained by a basketball final score of 122-108. All you have are teams running down the court on the fast break for 48 minutes. Yeah, alley-oops and slam dunks are great because fans love it. But you can get that running a normal defensive set.

I just don't see the point of watching only 3-on-2s for 48 minutes. Even the plays with flair get boring as hell. But again, that's just because I've always prided myself on my defensive capabilities, rather than my offense.

Yeah, the first four games were blowouts. The first two games in San Antonio, and the Spurs obliterate the Pistons. Next two games at the Palace, and the Pistons dominate the Spurs.

Sportswriters everywhere go  because the games have been unpredictable.

But if you mean to tell me that Games 5 and 6 weren't any good, especially the former, then I really don't have much to say to you other than... well, never mind.

And then there were people earlier in the Sports forum who say, "It doesn't matter who wins the Eastern Conference [Pistons/Heat], because they'll get crushed by the Spurs." And then when the Pistons advance, they say, "Here comes a sweep" or "The Pistons are ready to get blown out."

And then we're at a Game 7. Game 7s in any sport are always great. If you don't like Game 7s, you're not a fan of playoff sports and should stick to home interior design or the culinary arts.

If you're not excited for the NBA game tonight and you call yourself a basketball fan, that's just too bad, really.

I personally don't like the 2-3-2 format of the Finals, but whatever.

///

EDIT:

If I had my choice of enforcers I would take Todd Bertuzzi

Oh, you mean the cheap-shot artist who punched someone from behind, and continued to pummel him into the ice without warning?

Oh, yeah, a great example of hockey, being faced with criminal charges for breaking the guy's neck and injuring his vertebrae.

Well first off, I agree. The 2-3-2 format gives way too much of an advantage to the home team. But, it eliminates a lot of the traveling. Also, my dad told me back in the day it was 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 thats how it should be, but, wayy too much traveling, the playoffs are long enough as it is.

As far as Tod Bertuzzi, I know that was a horrible thing to do, but I belive he was in the top 5 in points two seasons ago, and hes just a really good player.

No it was him who got hit in the face. I forgett the guys name who did it.

Oh yeah your right. Marty McSorley is the guy who hit him.
