I. O.J. was about a black man beating the system...Jacko hasn't been black in a long time (heck, I don't think he's been in black in many of your lifetimes). I mean, we were certainly behind him, but it wouldn't going to be as much of a triumph if he won.
II. The backdrop is far more enticing: O.J. was being tried in LA, where not too long before, riots broke out after the white police who were caught beating Rodney King were all acquitted. So all black folks were cheering him on...my uncles and cousins were all literally celebrating after hearing he was found not guilty.
III. The White Bronco chase was absolutely surreal and the most memorable TV moments of all time...everyone who saw it remembers exactly where they were when they saw it. Also, the trial was more highly publicized than Jacko's. Jacko's is a bit more of a triviality, but O.J's was a spectacle, a sensation. It was on just about every channel.
IV. The acquittal was far more of a shock: With Jacko, it's plausible to assume that the kids highly exaggerated what actually happened, but it would take a miracle to convince everyone that OJ didn't kill Nicole and Ron.
V. The "unknown" factor...I was just a kid during the O.J. trial and I didn't know who he was...I didn't know he was a hall-of-fame running back, I didn't know he was the first guy to rush for 2,000 yards in a season, I didn't know he was the costar in a Steve McQueen movie. So O.J. himself was far more intriguing to me than Jacko was (because we've all heard Jacko's story to death). And everyone who was my age during the trial (which lasted from when I was 8 to about 10 or 11) always associates him with his trial, which I doubt anyone will do with Jacko.
VI. "The glove didn't fit"

Just some reactions to watching the reading of the verdict of the Michael Jackson trial in comparison to the other megatrial of my lifetime: The O.J. Simpson one.

Turns out they won't give her extra tickets, so there goes that opportunity
CASE B: I'm hanging out with my friends today and it turns out that they're going to see Santana this Friday, and they bought tickets without asking me if I wanted to go. wtf.

I just got through watching the remake of Cape Fear with Robert DeNiro. That was intense. Messed with my reflux somethin' fierce.

I love that movie, and De Niro's performance in it is one of the best ever, considering how much of a stretch the character is for him.

However, I loved it but I only saw it once and only plan to see it once. It's so creepy and disturbing that I don't think I can sit through it a second time.

I'm in NC, originally from Minnesota. Can't say I'm a fan at all of this south eastern region. The hunting and fishing sucks, no snowmobiling, and a large percentage of the cities are trashy. But this is more costal than KY. It's probably nicer over there.

Yeah, I'm from western Kentucky, there's pretty good game here, sucks for you :p . It is pretty fricken' beautiful where I'm from, as opposed to the town in California where I'm at right now, which is in the desert region and is pretty much a piece of crap town trying to look nice. California stresses me out, man. Kentucky is relaxing to me, I guess it's because of all the family, or just the environment...

The first 3 are classics!

If you think they suck, then what movies do you consider good?

Well, her favorite trilogy isn't really a movie, though.

It's the Triple Crown: Belmont, Preakness, Kentucky Derby...

Can someone tell me which book is the best by HP Lovecraft? I'm going to buy a book tomorrow and I want one from him. Help me out.

I think his short stories are generally his best, aren't they?

Do you guys know who Robert Crumb is?

My dad and I were watching a documentary on him today, he is bizzare.

I do, and he's pretty cool. I haven't yet seen that documentary, though.

You should watch it. He's just a really interesting person.

He used to be attracted to Bugs Bunny.

I've seen American Splendour, which has him in it. I actually really liked that film, so I've been thinking of getting the American Splendour/Robert Crumb documentary joint box thing, since I've been wanting to see the documentary for a while now. I'm also thinking of buying a CD of his, though it's not quite his music.

 Speaking of 2 step, I have another sucky story about my friends!

So, this friend of mine (Tyler) is perhaps the whitest person you would ever meet. He lives out in the middle of nowhere, works on a farm, likes pop punk, and of course, he can't dance to save his life.

He really wanted to learn how to dance to impress this girl or something. (man, he's so white) So my mexican friend was going to teach him how. Fully knowing that Tyler was white, my friend Samo(The mexican) taught him 'the 2 step with a twist.' Dear God.

Tyler showed up to our school's end of the year dance, and he tracked down that girl he wanted, and asked her to dance.

The next 5 minutes were perhaps the 5 funniest minutes of my life. He was out there, his arms pinned to his side, and you could see him mouthing "One, two, one two.." It was horrendous.

The moral of the story is "You won't get laid by learning the 2 step with a twist."

hahha. My friend Sean, who may even be whiter, likes metal, very quiet(opposite of black people) etc, wanted to learn to dance. So one of my black friends Craig tought him the hustler dance, its one of the funniest things ever seeing him do it. I want to video tape him and post it on here.

So nothing particularly exciting happened today. Apart from the fact that I'm going to Live 8 that is. And you know what that means? Yep, I'm seeing Pink Floyd's first appearance as a quartet in 24 years. Then there are other little bands like, erm...REM, Muse, U2, Coldplay, The Who all playing.

/waits for someone to tell me that they all suck.

Yeah, that pretty much made my day.

I get to go to the event, and watch it @ home :p

I sense the atmosphere will be strange...there aren't really any bands for teeny boppers there, no McFly etc...should be cool, I'm going with my aunt, I didn't actually get tickets, but she's taking me for my birthday :) Don't really know why she didn't just flog the tickets on Ebay

Not really. As good as a line up that is, only Muse I would really want to see in the flesh, but thats due to their live show. The others are ones I would watch out of appreciation, and do not a lot more than stand around hurting my neck (height is not my advantage).

Plus im seeing REM in july anyway.

Bono is just an explosion of his own ego, he thinks he's the biggest and best rock star ever. And I don't know, their music lacks power, good songwriting, etc...

They have a couple of good songs though. Of course, I really don't know much about them. I just don't like Bono.
