Just out of interest, since I know a lot of regulars in here aren't really that regular on sputnik, even though some of you did a lot in the old forum, is there anything you can think of that would make you go back there? I'm just curious, as I feel responsible for it (in an Internet sort of way), and want opinions. :-/

I just think sports have gotten too competitive. I dont mind losing or winning, but people dont realize that games are much more fun if they arent so serious.
What Im seeing (and it could just be the people i hang with), is if you do something right in a sport - whatever, that was sopposed to happen. If you do something wrong - then you get all pissed off and play worse and even the better things cant come make up for it...because thats already whats expected. In the end, it seems to have a negative effect on people who take it over-serious, so im a little more laid back.

Their arent any official styles of playing sports, and should be as loose as expression in music or art. Its not like everybody has to go by the same technique...i hate that.

Yea, I don't cry or anything if my team loses, but I do have a natural urge to compete thats telling me to try to win. And when you make a mistake, part of the mindset about playing sports is to not get pissed and worry about it, but to keep playing hard and smart.

I wrestled my freshman and sophomore years, but I noticed right before the season was about to start this year that I really wasn't into it. In wrestling especially, you have to be completely set on being successful for it to happen, and I knew as soon as I lost the will to give 100% all the time, there was no point in even doing it.
That and I hated cutting weight. That was like hell. But wrestling is a great sport though.

I like to think of sports more mental then physical. You have to stay focused, and recover from mistakes instantaniously rather then complaining about them. Ive seen that mistake take people down hard before. Especially Golfing....
I got hit by a baseball in a selected area at the batting cages i work at. They hurt more then i thought.
..
I only wrestled for 1 year. Our team came in first in the county, but unfortuanantly, they didnt match people up according to size, so i got a few nice slams done to me in there. The only move i remember is a full/half nelson.

Hello everyone.. Doing well? I'm kinda mad.. my power went out. I was forced to be around some immature 10 year old for the duration.. Well.. 'Till I told him he was pissing me off and he needed to go home before I decided to hurt him.. Then, several hours later, I decided to teach my sister guitar.. Oh what a mildly intresting Friday night it has been.
Dear Subdivision President in Charge of the Subdivision Phone Book,
PLEASE GET YOUR PHONE NUMBERS RIGHT, SO WHEN I CALL A HOUSE TO TELL THEM THEY WOKE ME UP BECAUSE THEIR CAR ALARM WAS GOING OFF FOR TWENTY FRIGGIN' MINUTES AND NO ONE WAS SHUTTING IT OFF, I WANT TO BE DIALING THE RIGHT NUMBER, AND NOT SOME WOMAN WHO'S RECOVERING FROM A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL AND WAS TRYING TO SLEEP.
PLEASE FIX THIS OR RESIGN, ASSHAT. I NOW HAVE SOME RANDOM WOMAN PISSED OFF AND PROBABLY CAN'T GO BACK TO SLEEP.
Angrily,
Jom
///
Dear lady who I accidentally woke up,
My subdivision president in charge of the subdivision phone book is a dumbass. I am really, really sorry, and it won't happen again, I promise. I sincerely hope you get well soon and hope that your meds totally wipe out your memory, especially the past twenty minutes.
I seriously feel like crap,
Jom
PS: to any smartass who makes some lame comment like "Are you sure you dialed the number correctly?" yes, yes I did. It's in the call history, and it's exactly as it is in the phone book. Do NOT be a jerk, just for once. I'm not in the mood, since I was just rudely awakened by a car alarm that is still currently going off.
Good night,
Jom

Ah yes, it's muggy as hell out for you guys, but have a good time. From what I understand, Petruzzello's is a nice place. Be sure to say hello to Tucci for me, since she's chaperoning, if you get the chance. She always called me by my last name for some odd reason, but don't tell her "Jom says hello" because she doesn't post on MX
She knows my first name, though. She'll act confused because her brain is fried, but if you mention painting a room in her house it [should] click.

I hate when the power here goes out. It takes forever, compared to where I used to live (a suburban area) for them to fix it. Last time it went out, they took about 22 hours to restore it. In other locations relatively close, they took up to 6 days..

I live in a suburban aream so it doesn't usually take that long for it to be fixed. Rarely more than a day except in some cases like if part of a hurricane hits.

What really pissed me off about the power going off last night was that it was only lightninging(is that a word?) for about 10 minutes.. And the chances of it hitting a powerline in 10 minutes are low, I beleive..

Yeah, that pretty much is frowned upon. It is much preferred that you have more substance to your post than a simple greeting.

My worst blackout story happened a couple years ago... some power grid in Ohio wiped out seemingly the entire Midwest, and we lost power for over 24 hours. So much food spoiled, and it's not like we could go out to eat since everyone lost power... so, yeah, eating dry food for dinner kinda was shitty. Everyone thought it was another terrorist attack.

It's more of a symbolic thing, though. It's like, this big bash that signifies the end of high school, as well as the last time you'll see a lot of people from your graduating class.
Eh, I'm not sure how to phrase it, exactly.
And Med: In America, the prom has been built up as a big part of a teen's life. So yeah.
I liked my prom, except for the girl I actually went to it with. In retrospect, I definitely should have asked the friend, but instead I went with my then-girlfriend even though neither of us actually liked each other all that much anymore. So basically, we spent our entire prom apart and flirting with other people.
And speaking of proms, the friend is taking her boyfriend to go with her instead of me. This doesn't come as much of a surprise to me, but I felt like pointing it out.
Also, if there's anything tougher than being upset with/having a fight with your gf, it's having a fight with them when they're 3,000 miles away :-\

[16:31] {Med57} I love you, Jesus Christ: this music is unfeasibly corny by the way

[16:32] Antihero /// Stand back, there's a hurricane coming through!: yeah, it's unbelievably corny, but that's why it's awesome, it fits the character extremely well

That's just gay. If they had tried doing something like that when I was in school, everybody would have just left to go do their own thing anyway.
After-proms here are apparently so much better. Sometimes they're at Dave and Busters or other various places around here. I think I might go, depending where it is and what's there, but i don't know.
A prom held at the school would suck.
See, at my school, our prom was seniors-only, unless your date was an underclassman. So... a junior dating a sophomore couldn't go, but a senior dating a freshman () could. But again, I never went... but if I did, that's how I'd want it to be. My high school was pretty huge, and my graduating class was in excess of 500 graduates, so that would have been crowded as it is. Having a bunch of sophomore/junior couples might have made things too crowded, and then there are the douchebags who go stag and try to steal dates from people and ruin someone's time.
Anyways, it's not held at the school, it rents out a banquet facility thing. From the pictures I saw from everyone, it looked pretty nice. It's also kinda fun to see your friends and their dates dressed up and such. It would really suck if prom was held at the school... I know Homecoming was for us, but prom was the "esteemed special day for seniors" so they rented out the banquet hall thing.

My school had about 2700 people in it from grade 9-13 (we had grade 13 in Canada at the time).
We also rent out a banquet hall, it's just still gay. I saw those people every day for four years. Why am I going to pay hundreds of dollars to see them again in a banquet hall? I'll see the people I WANT to see at the after party.

There was one of them going through MSN a couple of weeks ago. It took me and Vince hours to get rid of it :(

Oh no. I lived up to my previous username for the first time in months. I made over $120 in clothes today in under an hour. It's bad I know but so profitable. I try to justify it by only taking from very large established corporations such as Target, Dicks Sporting Goods, The Bon Ton and others that are similar.
Note to Jared - You like Bush too?!?! I used to be addicted but I still love it. The Science of Things is such a good album.
Note to the rest of you on the topic of posting here - I've been mostly in the death heads thread lately. I seem to have more productive music related conversations. It becomes more fun as my knowledge expands. I was so ignorant of so much music when I first joined. Now I consider myself not an authority, but someone who knows a little bit about many many groups and genres and enough to help people out when looking for similar artists.

I still think they're cool.
I've decided that I can't stand my significant other not being physically affectionate. I need them to want to touch and be touched, not in a sexual way so much as an... affectionate one. Example - yesterday I was walking with The Girl (who is becoming more and more like a girlfriend, though we need to talk about it because my parents keep asking about her and if she is or not. Apparently The Girl's mother said something to my mom) and it started to pour so, in proper movie fashion, she took my hand. I don't think we had ever held hands before that, at least not when we weren't sitting together (which is more like her sprawled across me. I don't care so long as I'm comfortable) but it was just one of those things where it felt right. This is a ramble that has sort of strayed form the original focus. Anyone else like physical affection?

I love it too. It's one of my favorite parts about being in a relationship. I can't explain why it's so great, but it just is. It's also why
A) I can't stand my girlfriend being 3,000 miles away (as she is now...she's coming out here for the end of the month though, so it's all good)
B) I don't like talking to her on the phone all that much

So I saw something about guitars, and it reminded me.
Me: "Are women attracted to guys who play guitar?"
Her: "I dunno...it makes ME hot when you play guitar"
Me: "Yeah, but why?"
