Raccoons are annoying. They knock over our compost bin and break into the dog food and make my dog go nuts.
We have a lot of Coyotes here. They make my dog howl.

Cool :) I know the fact that I ended up putting 15 tracks there, from various albums, makes it somewhat difficult to listen to easily. I've actually had Slippery People stuck in my head most of the day though.
I had never heard anything by them before, so it was a good introduction.

And no I don't have any real plans this summer.
Good luck on your SATs.
I remember one time I went to visit my aunt and uncle, and they took us camping. Well, my uncle loved Quik powder to put in his milk, he was real big on that stuff.
Well, one day, we were sitting out playing cards, and four raccoons came and stole my uncle's case of Quik. It was one of the funniest things, because when they got it they started chittering in a celebratory manner, but when my uncle got up to try to get it back they scurried off with it. It was one of the most bizarre incidents with animals that I've witnessed. My uncle was pissed, but I was just shocked at the teamwork those four possessed in carrying off a carton of Quik.
Softball was good tonight, I went 3-4... two doubles and a single. First at bat I slid like a dumbass and I shredded my leg all up (I have sliding shorts, but I don't wear long pants like an idiot). It was a real bitch cleaning that sucker out with antibacterial soap and peroxide after, but it was worth it. We won 19-7.
DM, excellent Lateralus review. When someone who loves Tool like crazy like AJIG gives you his support, you know it was a well-done review. It was also the first time I saw Ken post on Sputnik, but then I realized that he had one comment :downs:

So...DEP had a great live show, 3/4 openers sucked terribly, but one was decent and had a free demo so I picked that up and will be listening shortly. I actually felt a little bad because no one was even in the room for any of the openers, but when DEP came on...it was crazy. Sooo many drunken people, but it was terrific. The guitarist literally jumped straight onto one of the bassist's full stacks, and the singer climbed up on the side speakers and then slid down the curtain there. The singer also came into the crowd about 4 times and had terrific charisma. Unfortunately one of the guitarists had a "medical emergency" and didn't play the show, but it was still really cool. Most intense show I've been to easily. I just ordered a large pizza and a 2-liter in hopes I can re-energize myself though haha. Not to mention I rode my bike there. Despite that great show...I'm really melancholy now that I'm home and it's annoying because I don't know why...maybe my high is just dying, but this sucks :( (P.S. See DEP if you have a chance, it's a lot of fun.)

Yeah...well to add to that I rode about 2 miles past it because I missed it on my way there :(
The drunks guys were rather annoying, but they also bring the energy levels up...so it's a compromise, I forgot to mention, right near the beginning I almost got in a fight when this fat Asian kid used his weight to knock me back about five rows of people, so I ended up diving right back into him...but then we shook hands and it was all good :)

Basically, it was very busy, with at least 4 people queued for each checkout. So my manager asks me to grab some people and take them to my lane, since I was just starting. So I arbitrarily pick a line, go and grab the last two customers, and take them through to my lane. Next thing I know, this black lady was going off at me for "Being racist", "discriminating against her colour", and "picking the white people over herself". I just politely ignored her and talked to the guy I was serving. She got bored after a while, and went off.
Meanwhile, I'm thinking of writing a thread for that stormfront forum. Something like, "Yeah, I'm a white nationalist. The other day, I was walking into a condemned building, but this jew construction worker told me that it was "unsafe". Well, I saw right through his jew words and made my way into the building. Sugarhill gang had like one good song.
I think most peoples problem with rap is that it's not musical enough. IF you feel this way you should turn to the greatest alt rap group ever: Tribe Called Quest. There mellow, flowing lyrics mixed with jazzy backrounds makes them the quintessential alternative rappers.
Another really good rap song is double dutch bus. I don't know who raps it though.

WARNING: don't read this last part unless you're bored as hell.
In case anyone cares, I went to a friend's house to play Scrabble. She is friggin' amazing at that game. She crushed me and one of her best friends... so she puts the scorecard in the box so she can gloat about it later. Yeah, I definitely stole it and made a blog entry to show off her awful math skills.
Original scorecard (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v607/frozeninshadows/Photos/original.jpg)
/me circles a bunch of random crap (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v607/frozeninshadows/Photos/errors.jpg)
What the numbers mean:
1. Notice how Shelby is going first. Instead of drawing one tile to see who goes first like any true champion plays, she says, "Uh, this is how I wrote it, so I'm going to go first so I don't get confused." Everyone who plays Scrabble KNOWS that the person who goes first gets a double word score right off the bat (the star square), so that's a bunch of BS, I tell you !
2. I was within six points of her ! Too bad it would be my smallest margin :-\
3. What a crock of **** ! Shelby gets ready for her last turn... AND SPELLS A SEVEN-LETTER WORD WITH BOTH BLANKS IN HER ARSENAL ! Seriously, what the hell is up with that? To make matters worse, she built off another word, and hit a TRIPLE WORD SCORE. She got 74 points for that. Crazy. And also, that's how she ended the game ! Who the hell finishes a game of Scrabble with a seven-letter word? Honestly.
4. Uh, yeah. I finished with 121 points. Sweet.
5. Kim had something like six letters left when Shelby went out... and they were all 3 and 4 point letters. She had all the W's and M's in the game, it seemed. So yeah, -20 point deduction hurts you in Scrabble.
And, my personal favorite:
6. Way to add, fartknocker !

Hello everyone.
I got the best sleep I've gotten in a long while last night. Sleeping in my own bed is terrific.
I went out for a run today even though it was about 50 degrees and rainy (New England weather...gotta love it). That's okay though, I like running in cold and rain better than running when it's warm and sunny. You're less likely to get hot and comfortable, the sun's not in your eyes, and it's very quiet and peaceful. Everyone stays inside so no one is out there to bother you. I dunno.
I got in touch with some of my old high school friends. Most of them will be coming back home within the next two weeks. I also went to go see my friend (the one who I've told you guys about in the past) and she was thrilled to see me again, and we hung out for a while. The way she greeted me and how happy it was to see me, it made me feel good inside.
And then I had a home-cooked meal for the first time in a long time. Superb as usual.
Home-cooked meals are one thing that I am looking forward to very much, after a year of dining on glorified cafeteria meals. The best things to eat here are the waffles, and you make those yourself. :-/

Nah, that's not that weird, really :)
Their family is extremely close, it's actually quite surprising. But it's also pretty cool how tight-knit their family is. James always says how he'd rather be home doing stuff with his family when he doesn't go out with friends, so that's pretty cool. Phil is going to U of M to run, while James wrestles there... so those two are going to be hanging around even moreso. It probably helps that their ages are so close, too.

Well, my champion pick (Spurs) and the team I like the most out of the teams that are left (Sonics) are alive.
Also, Elisha Cuthbert is a fox.
Oh, whoops, I thought that with Ray's post he said that Boston lost ("Boston can't win a game at home" = aww, man...). That's my fault.
As for what you can refer to me as on MX, I have no preference, just don't call me "Jim" because everytime I see it, I just assume that it's for DBJ... especially when I'm in the Site forum. I'll see something like, "Hey Jim, question..." and I'll think, "Wow, someone wants to ask me something " but then I realize it's for DBJ, and I can't condition my brain to think that it's only for DBJ and not myself.
So, yeah, I have no preference, just don't call me by my nickname. You can call me "faggot," if you must, just not in any of the forums that DFelon mods... but I won't mention any names, Vince. :nudge nudge wink:

But seriously, whatever's fine. Jommy doesn't seem to have that ring to it, I s'pose.
Kind of a bunch of random posting will commence below (but not really):
Can someone tell me about Fear Before the March of Flames? Kind of a cool name to me, but I don't know what they play. The one commercial I saw of them lasted for like five seconds, and they sound like something that would belong in Hardcore/Emo, but I'm too intimidated/wussy to go post there. Perhaps if you could say a similar artist or two, that'd be helpful.
Ray, I agree with you when you say your friend should meet your girlfriend. I would advise against a threesome though. I know, I'm sure that never crossed your mind. Even still, I would say that it is imperative that they at least meet face-to-face so each girl knows and sees how the other's relationship with you is different (and similar, in some cases, perhaps?) than the other. But I'm no Dr. Phil of advice like that. I genuinely hope it works out, and I have confidence that it will.

Awesome day today. One of the best I've had in recent memory.
- Woke up and took my SATs. Very easy. There was an anti Quentin Tarrantino queston in the grammar section. Essay = cake.
- Went to giant grocery store Wegmans and got a very good sandwich.
- Went to dance. Had rehearsal for 2.5 hours
- Went down to the commons (pedestrian zone) and walked around with friends. Sat around in a park and talked to a homeless guy with a tracheotomy. He rambled. He was cool.
- Went to friends house where I sat around outside on her porch with hotgirl and another kid who is a hippie.
- Gradually people filtered in and out of the house but my friend, hot girl and I stayed the whole time. Hot girl and I ended up in a bed. Fun happened.
- Friends parents came home. Almost caught in the act. No uncomfortable-ness though. Everyone was cool.
- Watched about half of some movie. Friend flipped out at her parents halfway through and hot girl and I went back upstairs until Friend and Friend's mom stormed out of the house for some reason unknown to me. Dad called and I abandoned Hot Girl who hopes to be asleep before Friend gets home so she doesn't have to listen to whining for a few hours.
The SAT and flip out were basically not so great but entirely outweighed by my day with Friend and Hot Girl (who may be girlfriend or at least unspecified significant other shortly) because they are two of my favorite people ever.
Tomorrow - Record with band mate then come home and do mother's day things for my mother.

This is kind of for mod approval, or for anyone who thinks it's a good idea, but I'm thinking of maybe having a Greatest Rock and Metal songwriting competition.
We can use resources such as http://www.xsao.net or http://www.cdzinc.com
When people submit nominations, they should name a song that displays exceptional songwriting.
So maybe an example of a nomination would be:
John Lennon - Across the Universe (Beatles)
So people could go on forementioned sites and listen to the song.
Of course, I'll only go if Superpeer and Bartender both approve it.
So, R&M regulars.. whattya think?
If it's approved, I'll do it whenever Schyma finishes his guitar competition, maybe wait a few months.
i am the robots
05-08-2005, 12:13 AM

I like it, but while I would listen to every song before voting, most people wouldn't so it seems a little impractical. Kinda like that guy who was bashing Beck and a post later asking what band he was in, only on a larger scale because so many bands would just have a ton of songs on it based on the band not the song. I would alo do rock and metal separate because I've always thought these contests would be better divided like that :)
MalcolmYoungRock
05-08-2005, 12:21 AM
Yeah, I might have to do 2 contests because Pantera fans probably wouldn't appreciate Simon & Garfunkel lyrics.
Reading through the problems thread... I guess Iai's got a competition, best modern rock band coming up also.
So, I'll wait 'til he's done with it.
He's been waiting longer than me :)
Edit:
Yeah, I agree with Vince, people probably wouldn't take the time to listen to all the songs, or as Eleventeen said people might be biased on writing because of genre and such.

Or maybe I can stream a few of them... or are the rules I have to listen to them all?
Listen to as much as you need to have an educated opinion them. :)

Stop spamming. No one wants to talk about something like that. There was a conversation already going on.
Listen to as much as you need to have an educated opinion them. :)
Quality varies widely between the entries, too, so wherever possible pay attention closely to the compositional aspect. :)
Streaming would be a good idea.

Yeah, as I said before, they're starting to stream really nicely, haven't gotten anything choppy.
I'll submit a vote tomorrow.

Yep. I'd say yours, mine, berners and mishas take the cake in terms of quality.

Everyone vote for me!!! :D
Although I do have stiff competition from lateski. His song is ****in' great. And there was another one I listened to earlier today with an amazing Morningrise-style acoustic bit in the middle, it made me **** myself. I'm lovin' a lot of those entries.
Ramsey, your entry is one of your finest compositional moments. 'Tis also a great use of the POD's versatility, you sure put it to good use on it. Thank you so much :D :D :D
i used the metal packs on them, which is:
Only question: what are "metal packs?" Some new thing for the POD that I haven't heard about, or something that comes with the XT that I don't have as it's a Version 2.0?
Well I used the "model" packs, which include the metal packs
Its basically a new set of effects, amps and a bunch of stuff that upgrades your pod (you download them) and just use them in guitarport like you would.
The thing is, these metal packs are TOTALLY ****ing worth it. If you listen to thisfilters song (misha) he is using them. I also use them on my song. They are COMPELTLY worth it if those songs are any indication.
I'm not sure if you can upgrade a POD 2.0 though, you'll need to check their site

Sounds cool. The amp mods for the Rectified 2 are kind of weak. Although the tone I got sounds pretty good to me. :)

I forgot to add, the Model packs, all three of them are for a 100$
its worth it when you consider that 1 of them is for 50$

so, yesterday me and some mates where gonna hi-jack a boat and row it across a private lake, but there was a guy there so, after half an hour of walking sneakily through bushes and brambles etc, we had to leg it back up the path and jump over the fence, or else we would have been arrested for tresspassing.

Possibly. There is apparently someone I'd like to see playing at the Centre For Contemporary Arts on Sauchiehall in a couple of weeks, and if I can link it in to a trip to the fabled Fopp, all the better.
He's also supposedly playing at the Sage music centre in my very own home town (Gateshead, not Leeds) a few days earlier though, so I'm not sure if I'll be going to both. Or either, to be honest, though I hope I will.

Anyhoo, Cain is an excellent guitarist. Probably not the best in R&M but very good and his song writing is quite impressive. I just realized I do have an amp modeler. My old multi FX pedal has one built in. I'll try using that for next challenge. I wish people hated my song less.
