Mind Revolution is the user who is spamming lessons. All you have to do is run the bot, and you get a bunch of posts that occur every so often. The only problem is that he isn't doing it subtly, because he went from 800 to 6,700 over the course of a day, and that's just chaotic.

Gates was banned because a major of his posts ITT are short and substanceless, and the mod team is cracking down on those sort of posts.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to write my conversation between the two philosophers... however, I need to think of where they would be talking that would be plausible. Suggestions (note: this is directed at people like Vince, magicbus, and Med)?

Aristotle and Seneca. I wouldn't have a problem if they were in the same time frame, but they aren't... so I just need a place for them that they would be talking. It can be very basic and simple, I just don't want them talking in the Underworld.

I am listening to the most wuss-emo song (not emotional hardcore, so don't give me **** for ****ing up the genre name, thanks) ever. Well, maybe not ever, but it's up there alright. For some reason, it speaks to me, even though I've never had to deal with anything the singer talks about. I like the piano intro, though.

It's 9.34MB, so 56Kers be weary (http://s25.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=18JERB4DP5GC43VWGQC0IXEW2Q)

I could do that, yes. I need to try to be as generic as possible. A theater would probably be a good idea, except that I don't want them talking throughout the show :p

An excerpt from the song I just posted:

It's to dying in another's arms
And why I had to try it
It's to Jimmy Eat World
And those nights in my car
When the first star you see
May not be a star

Make them talking during Intermission, or you could even make them the stars of the play!

You could make it a very bad play, and they are far superior to it, so they'd rather discuss philosiphy with each other.

What I think I'm going to do is try typing the meaty part of the conversation, and then work on the initial arrival and final farewell after I go see the profs during office hours and ask them for suggestions.

[whiny] And then you'd bring me home
And we go to sleep, but this time not alone
And you'd kiss me in your living room
I know you miss me in your living room
'Cause these nights I think maybe that I miss you in my living room...
... because we don't have much room to live...

I have no clue why I like this song.

FINAL WARNING: STOP ****ING SPAMMING IN THIS THREAD. THIS GOES TO EVERYONE.

Good work, Jim.

How are we all today? I'm on for a little while, since my weekend has turned into a quagmire of uni/work/social activities. I'm slowly wading my way through this mess.

I went to the Dawn Service for the ANZAC day celebrations. I don't think I will go to the parade though. Lest we forget.

On a lighter note, my chemistry lecturer replied to an email I sent him, indicating he might be able to get me a job in a lab. Good times. :D

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jim, why not have the two philosphers meet at work. I didn't read exactly what these philosophers are, but I assume they are simply two ordinary people? In that case, have them meet in the tea room of an oil rig, etc. Make the environment a stark contrast to the dialouge.

EDIT: Just saw your last comment. If this is ancient times, have them meet in a battlefield/foundry/stable etc.

I'd say the idea of self and function in community is a good way to start, it's broad enough to cover what you listed, but specific enough to pinpoint certain parts of their ideas and not cover everything. If you're following in Plato's footsteps you could have one be out walking, encounter the other, and they discuss it whilst walking.

By the way Jason 1, put some Aussie tours in my thread heh...it's so empty.

Fenders are blues and classic rock beasts. That's where their biggest strengths are, for me. I would love a good American Fender to provide a balance to my Satch locking trem guitar...I would like to play blues occaisionally, and definitely play cleaner, chord-based guitar stuff, but the Satch one is much more suited to metal riffs and solos, and the floating trem makes blues licks sound like sh*te.

Here's the thing. I know I catch on quickly and can do well at most any job I want to do, and I can do so without trying. I wouldn't be at college if I wasn't on full ride, I know that much, but wasting this opportunity while I have it is a little bit harder.

Late response to Chris, Chris and Jason: I would love to be a musician as well and I appreciate the compliments. I'm going to see what happens at school in that regard. I'm basically going to try and do everything I can do music-wise while I'm still at school and am garunteed a home, food, money, and an education. I understand how difficult it is though, and will soon turn my thoughts to writing after college. I figure I can support myself easily enough for at least a few years in a slightly-above entry-level job, and I don't intend to get married until I have a clear idea of what my ultimate situation is likely to be, probably towards the end of my twenties. When I get married, I'll do the other things as much as I can--I'll probably be happy just continuing to create music or fiction even if I'm not making money with it--but at that point it'll be time to find the more "realistic" option.

Here's hoping I become a rock star, then. ;)

As most of you know, my parents and I have been in an epic struggle against each other over my freedom. I was to be moving on my own paying for a plane ticket with my own money last week, but that money wa refunded, and after talkin with my grandmother in Kentucky, my dad sat my older brother (who's moving out this year to go to college in New Jersey) and I down and told my brother "June 15, you're moving out to Kentucky until you go to college" at that point, I was like 'yeah, you're gettin' kicked out, bitch" and my dad then proceded to tell me that I was going with him, to which I replied with a loud, effective "BITCHIN'!" Three days...wow, you do realise they will absolutely DRAG by?!.
It's always the way, heh.
I'm in year ten now (In English highschools there are like 5 "Seinor" years, 10 is the second to last), but the year above us are breaking up this May, dirrectly after their exams.
SO! That means, school, well, forced education, will officially end for me in around a year, and I can't wait, I don't actually know what I want to do yet, I'll possibly go to university, 6th Form or Colleage... *Thinks*
Eh, anyway.
How is everyone?

I smoke weed and cigarettes.

I had never done anything like that until I moved to Norway, and then my whole world got flipped upside down. It was so strange, kids as young as 12 will be walking down the street smoking. I picked up the habit, unfortunately.

Then when I moved back to USA, my best friends from growing up had started smoking weed, and I tried it and thought it was fun. I still like it, but I hate how much my girlfriend smokes.

Anyway, hope you like the songs, stranger.

This is mostly true for soft drugs like weed and even acid but things like Heroin are very addictive and DO **** you up. And cigarettes too, mainly due to the **** that is put in them, hence why smoking cigarettes is soooo much worse for you than smoking the occasional joint. Everything in moderation I suppose.

Reminds me of the time when Atreyu_Breakingbenjamin said he had over 600 extreme metal cds, and that he was a big fan of extreme metal, yet his two favorite bands are very mediocre and bland. Yeah, that is believable.

Also regarding his "600 extreme metal cds", he seemed to only pop up into discussions and defend the new metalcore acts, but would never talk about extreme metal. And when he tried he made an *** out him self. He Called Vehemence black metal and called Dimmu Borgir death metal and proceeded to tell all the death head regulars that he was right and they were wrong.

Also he showed his false love for extreme metal when he said he has never heard of Opeth, and he had just finally heard Nile, Behemoth and various other bands...

He also made some remark that if you are in the music industry you know more about music then some random guy on the street...funny similarities.

Shred Danson

OK, this pretty much exlemplifies how little of a life I had. I did a psychoanalysis on atreyu_breakingbenjamin, like somebody asked for earlier. Here goes:

Atreyu_breaking benjamin has many personal qualities-some positive, most negative. From the first time he posted on these forums, he has made a negative impact on me. The one incident that sticks out in my mind is one of the posts he made back when he was a "n00b" with few posts. This was back in September. He went into a thread ranting on about how everyone only listens to "mainstream" and what's "popular" in the music scene today. I went on to point out his user name.

In my opinion, atreyu_breakingbenjamin wants to think that he belongs to a group of "elite metalheads" (i.e his user title and various avatars he has used of mainstream "underground" bands) when in fact, he is just following another music trend that will perhaps die out in the next five or ten years. Sadly, a few good bands belong to that trend, but let's not get beside the point. People like atreyu_breakingbenjamin bring those trends down, which is somewhat ironic, since they are the life support of said trends.

I'll admit that atreyu_breakingbenjamin has some good points at certain (rare) times. If he stopped worrying about being "cool" and "hip" and acting "knowledgeable" (i.e downplaying guitar solos, which both Atreyu and Breaking Benjamin incorporate into their songs from time to time), he could become a productive poster. He also has a problem trying to be something he's not most of the time, and that is a crux.

In conclusion, I'm sure that if atreyu_breakingbenjamin put some thought into his posts, and stopped contradicting himself all too often, he would have much greater ease posting on these forums. Maybe starting over with a different account wouldn't be too bad for him.

Hey, Jom. Suck my balls, you thread-searching leech

I like their first album, and the song Antihero uploaded a while back (thanks for that, by the way :)).

Antihero again; why not just have them meeting in a forum/market?

I'm slightly annoyed, anyway. After four years of compulsory postal voting in my area (the area I live in, not where I go to University), the local authorities have decided to allow people to choose once more this year (in time for a general election), with the default being regular voting, meaning you have to apply for postal voting. Being in Leeds as I am, I didn't get this message until about half an hour ago, and the deadline for applying for postal vote papers is..tomorrow. So I've downloaded an application form, and now all I have to do is fill it out and send it on up to Gateshead civic centre with my non-existent fax machine, because of some ****sticks somehow neglecting to inform me of all this.

In better news though, my grandma randomly gave me £200 a couple of days ago

As a Nas fan, I absolutely have to point this out: "In The Air Tonight" is sampled and used as the beat for "One Mic"

As a Pats fan, I absolutely have to point this out: In the 2002 Divisional Playoffs ("The Snow Game"/"The Tuck Game"), "In The Air Tonight" was playing over the PA at Foxboro Stadium during the most crucial juncture of the game (when the referee was reviewing Brady's fumble to see if it really was a fumble). I know this because

Werd, I'm in NC. It's pretty boring down here. No good concerts, except Hardcore/Metalcore bands that are once in a while decent, but that's rare.

same situation here... except a few good Death bands.

Where in NC? I'm in Fayetteville/Fort Bragg and it's just worthless here. Not a metalhead within 50 miles. There's some good concerts in Raleigh and more often in Winston-Salem though.

Uh, well, chats are spontaneous, so don't get all pissy that you didn't get invited. There's no method to the madness. Just calm down.

Anyway, 24 was pretty good.

I beg to differ :-\

And when it comes to concerts, I lived in Boston  so I win

For right now, yes, you do win. But until we find someone who posts in this thread who lives in L.A/San Diego.. you're screwed. :thumb:

I wanna get down to SoCal again. It's so awesome down there. I've only been when I was maybe 10 during X-mas break. I really didn't absorb much of the culture that young, but it was still one of the funner vacations I've been on.

Well, I don't think I need to make it clear where I'm from.

I'll say it anyway.

About a Tim Raines relay throw away from Comiskey Park.

Also, I had no idea I had reached 6k! Good lawd.

And no one hates Jurassic 5 here, AH,

I could say something really rude right here, but I won't. ;)

Go ahead. I don't think my post opened itself up to rude comments, so I'm intrigued.

I'll upload it if you want, but it's by KMK :-\

Holy hell, I just stumbled across a goofy gold mine: someone on the network is sharing all the Bud Light commercials where they make fun of people (Mr. Giant Foam Finger Guy, Mr. Rental Bowling Shoe Giver Outter, etc.). Should I get them? It almost seems pointless, but those commercials are hysterical.

Eh, they might be funny once or twice, but I doubt you would watch them that much.

Jake, how are you liking the J5?

The reason why I like "What's Golden" so much is that it was the Pistons' theme song for the playoffs, where they punched the Lakers right in the mouth

I know a lot of the NBA fans here are anti-'Stons, but I wanted to say that.
