A black cat moans
When he's burning with the fever
A stray dog howls
When he's lonely in the night
A woman goes crazy
With the thoughts of retribution
But, a man starts weeping
When he's sick and tired of life

I keep on dreaming dreams of tomorrow
Feel I'm wasting my time
Lighting candles in the wind,
Always taking my chances
On the promise of the future
But, a heart full of sorrow
Paints a lonely tapestry

The sun is shining
But, it's raining in my heart

No one understands the heartache,
No one feels the pain,
'Cos no one ever sees the tears
When you're crying in the rain,
When you're crying in the rain,
Crying in the rain...

I can never deny
All the sweet things I have tasted
Tho' I've been mistreated
I keep coming back for more,
I know where I'm going
There's no hope of absolution
I can't seem to separate
The good times from the bad

The sun is shining
But, it's raining in my heart

No one understands the heartache,
No one feels the pain,
'Cos no one ever sees the tears
When you're crying in the rain,
When you're crying in the rain,
When you're crying in the rain,
When you're crying in the rain

The sun is shining
But, it's raining in my heart

No one understands the heartache,
No one feels the pain,
'Cos no one ever sees the tears
When you're crying in the rain,
When you're crying in the rain,
When you're crying in the rain,
When you're crying in the rain

Crying in the rain...

To the east side (MOVIN' ON UP)
To a deeeluxe apartment in the sky
Mo-hoovin' on up (MOVIN' ON UP)
To the east side (MOVIN' ON UP)
We finally got a piece of the pie!

Fish don't fry in the kitchen!
Beans don't burn on the grill!
Took a whole lotta tryin',
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at bat.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby,
There ain't nothin wrong with that.

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.

To the east side.

ooh that's it
now honey honey come ride
DKNY all up in my eye
you gotta Prada bag with alotta stuff in it
give it to your friend let's spin
everybody lookin' at me
glancin' the kid
wishin' they was dancin' a jig
here with this handsome kid
ciga-cigar right from Cuba-Cuba
I just bite it
it's for the look I don't light it
illway the an-may on the ance-day oor-flay
givin' up jiggy make it feel like foreplay

Chorus:

na na na na na na na nana

what you wanna ball with the kid
watch your step you might fall
trying to do what I did
mama-unh mama-unh I'ma come closer
in the middle of the club with the rub-a-dub, unh
no love for the haters, the haters
mad cause I got floor seats at the Lakers
see me on the fifty yard line with the Raiders
met Ali he told me I'm the greatest
I got the fever for the flavor of a crowd pleaser
DJ play another
from the prince of this
your highness
only mad chicks ride in my whips
south to the west to the east to the north
bought my hits and watch 'em go off a go off
ah yes yes y'all and ya don't stop
in the winter or the (summertime)
I makes it hot
gettin jiggy wit 'em

(Chorus)

eight-fifty I.S. if you need a lift
who's the kid in the drop
who else Will Smith
livin' that life some consider a myth
rock from south street to one two fifth
women used to tease me
give it to me now nice and easy
since I moved up like George and Wheezy
cream to the maximum I be askin' 'em
would you like to bounce with the brother that's platinum
never see Will attackin' 'em
rather play ball with Shaq and um,
flatten 'em
psyche
kiddin'
you thought I took a spill
but I didn't
trust the lady of my life she hittin'
hit her with a drop top with the ribbon

Tonight I'm in the mood for some unscheduled affection
Spontaneous combustion...I'm playing with my fire inside
Burning my inner child blackened his skin to the tint of his
sweatshirt
'Hey...when you play with the big boys, you get hurt!'
I used to suck my thumb while rubbing silk blankets across my
cheek
Until my mom denied me access. I bawled for weeks
We don't speak to this day. I came to terms with my fear and
loathing
Now I wear this clothing...like it's an extra layer of old skin
Afraid to shed...tears...in the fabric...from years that I've
had it
Found abandoned on the stairs to the attic
Collecting runaway skin cells...absorbing memories
It's been to hell and back, dragged through the dirt and even
worn by enemies
Born in the 70's of the 20th century
Making that distinction is for future reference...In case y'all
remember me
And my genesis. What's most important is to remember this
Women and men are pissed. When they kiss they exchange spit that
is venomous

THAT'S IT, I'M PULLING OUT ALL THE STOPS NOW !

It's been a while since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile since I first saw you
And it's been awhile since I could stand on my own two feet again
And it's been awhile since I could call you

And everything I can't remember, as ****ed up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered, I stretched myself beyond my means

And it's been awhile since I can say that I wasn't addicted and
It's been awhile since I can say, "I love myself as well," and
It's been awhile since I've gone and ****ed things up just like I always do
And it's been awhile but all that **** seems to disappear when I'm with you

And everything I can't remember, as ****ed up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered, I've gone and ****ed things up again

Why must I feel this way? Just make this go away, just one more peaceful day

And it's been awhile since I could look at myself straight
And it's been awhile since I said I'm sorry
And it's been awhile since I've seen the way the candles light your face
And it's been awhile, but I can still remember just the way you taste

And everything I can't remember, as ****ed up as it all may seem
To be, I know it's me, I cannot blame this on my father, he did the best he could for me

And it's been awhile since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile since I said, "I'm sorry..." :emo:

This is a story all about
How my life got flip-turned upside-down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air

In West Philadelphia, born and raised
On the playground was where I spend most of my days
Chillin out, maxin', relaxin' all cool
and all shootin' some b-ball outside of school
When a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started makin' trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
and said "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air"

I whistled for a cab and when it came near
the license plate said "fresh" and there was dice in the mirror
If anything I could say that this cat was rare
But then said "Nah, yo homes, to Bel-Air!"
I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8
and I yelled to the cabbie "yo homes, smell ya later!"
I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there
to settle my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air

I win.

No, but she's nice. She'd probably record for me if I ask her.

Social Studies is my major. Secondary Certification means that I'd be certified to teach grades 7-12, but I want to teach high school and not middle school/junior high. It's a long title, yeah, I agree... but "Social Studies High School Teacher" seems a bit too straightforward, right?

And then my minor is poli sci.

I also should get to sleep, sorry to head out, but it's approaching 2 and I'm going to need to hit the books this week for finals, so I need to catch some 26th-letter-of-the-alphabets :(

They've just named Cardinal Ratzinger as the new Pope...in other words, the Catholic Church has chosen someone who's every bit as conservative as the last Pope was, meaning that we can expect to see a continuation of the policies on contraception, abortion, stem cell research, and homosexuality that have been causing various degrees of tragedy all around the world. Wonderful.

where does he come from?

Joe
04-19-2005, 12:06 PM

Germany. and i agree with med, this is an appalling choice for the church because the church needs reform and the conservativeness of Pope Benedict XVI won't help.

Cain

This is really upsetting. I think it's pretty pathetic how the Catholics make concessions to mistakes centuries after they occur and the maximum amount of damage has already occured. John Paul II was the first guy to apologize for the trial of Galileo and the Spanish Inquisition easily four centuries after it happened. That's just unbelievable. Blind conservatism is a ridiculous way to live in a modern age.

Exactly. In a progressing world you can't be conservative, it doesn't work. I think this was a bad choice by the cardinals. The Catholic Church needs some liberal or progressive minds to keep the church going

Why?

Why not?

I don't like the Catholic church in general anyway, and I'm not what the Politics forum would call a conservative by a long shot, but I don't think it's ready for an ultra-progressive or liberal pope yet. It's not strong enough, and I think Benedict will strengthen it, ready for a somewhat more liberal next pope. So I think the church needed to stick with a more conservative pope for now, and Benedict is a good choice for a few reasons;

-he's not likely to have a particularly long pontificate
-he's more likely to follow a similar direction to John Paul II (who was a good pope) than pretty much any other conservative choice
- he's pretty cool.

There are some things though, that are such that to reform them would mean that the Catholic church would no longer be the Catholic church. Ignoring important doctrine would always be the greater of two evils.

Anyway, I think the one being considered in Latin America (the guy in Brazil) wouldn't have been a good choice because he'd be far too occupied with the problems in Brazil. Not that they shouldn't have attention paid to them, but I got the impression he would have kind of concentrated on it to the exclusion of other, possibly more important matters.

they mustn't reform too quickly though, it would tear the church apart, so they should gradually get move away from Pope John Paul II's traditional views - i'm not saying he's a bad pope, because he wasn't - but they need to change the church's views on contraception, to begin sorting out the problem of AIDS in Africa.

I don't care. I'm a semi-religious person, but I like to think of Catholics as a cult, therefore I joke a lot about that particular "religion". I really could care less if people get offended over my pope orgy reference, if their offended, that's their problem. Plus, this is MX, it's not everyday that you see someone get offended by what I or anyone else has to say.

Exactly. In a progressing world you can't be conservative, it doesn't work. I think this was a bad choice by the cardinals. The Catholic Church needs some liberal or progressive minds to keep the church going

No, the Catholic church needs to stop giving child molesters priesthood and stop calling their priests "father" and stop revering their popes. It's hypocrisy, because their basically making these people false idols.

Everybody! I got into Michigan State University yesterday!

Also, (more directed towards AH) Tucci (my english teacher) thought my research paper was the best in the class. She was convinced I copied it from somewhere, or at least had someone proofread it, but I did neither. I just wrote it the night before it was due. She was stunned, because I had such a negative attitude toward the paper, but she was also very impressed.
