Hey, i found the word "catharsis" somewhere and thought it might make a good song. The defenition is (from dictionary.com):

# A purifying or figurative cleansing of the emotions, especially pity and fear, described by Aristotle as an effect of tragic drama on its audience.

# A release of emotional tension, as after an overwhelming experience, that restores or refreshes the spirit.

The song is set in a room with a guy talking to a phycologist or someone like that.

.:Catharsis:.

Verse 1:

This is my catharsis
Therapy through pain
Breaking the chains
Still only scratching the surface

- - -

Verse 2:

A build up of hate
The weight of the world
Balancing on my shoulders
Slowly crumbling away

- - -

Chorus:

I trust in you
to see through me
The thing thats wrong
and I cant seem to see

Its all the same
Why cant i see
Whats happening to me

But thats ok
Im not blind
Therapy through pain

- - -

Verse 3:

Breathing their words
is making me sick
Making my life a living hell
Building my prison piece by piece

- - -

Verse 4:

Delutions of power and money
The crawl of life
Twisted religions
Death is the only real thing

- - -

Chorus variation:

I trust in you
To set me free
The thing thats wrong
That im starting to see

Its all mundane
let me leave
Whys this happening to me

But thats ok
Im not blind
Therapy through pain

- - -

There isnt any music written for this yet it'll be either a metal or acoustic, which do you think it would suit better? Any crits welcome, happy to do the same.

I think that metal would suit it better, even though I'm way bigger into acoustic music than heavy metal.

It was good. It was very simple, but I think that that can be refreshing sometimes. One thing I would check up on is the first chorus: I think that it's a little too redundant. Also, the flow of both choruses seemed a little... choppy. There is no way to tell without music, but it just seems a little broken up.

Over-all, nice job. 'Catharsis' is a sweet word. Take it easy.

Yes, overall not bad, just really simple it seems. Definetly does sound choppy in a few places such as in the 3rd and 4th verses. Basically, everything Pirate said! Good start, might even want to consider taking that and just adding to the verses and such, giving them a little more explanation and depth...

Norma Jean (formerly Luti-Kriss) had a song called catharsis. and earlier last year someone posted a song on these forums called catharsis. as it is a cool-sounding word, three (and i'm sure these aren't the only three) songs written with this name is enough. as for the lyrics, nothing can compare to norma jean's lyrical abilities, but this was decent.

In songs, when the title of the song is sung in the first line....it just doesn't sound right. Even though many poems are like this. The wording is okay, and the flow is fine. :thumb:

I agree with what they all said about the first verse, and that was my only beef. And the Bled also has a song called " My Cyanide Carthasis"
