If you ever tried the DOD death pedal, then it's almost exactly the same. It's okay but it isn't really my thing. I prefer my digitech metal master.

I have the death metal, and I think it's really good, people just hear digitech and think digital, and most digital stuff sucks, but the pedals that were originally made by DOD are good, or at least the death metal. All other digitech sucks though, but this one is good.

I used to own most of the x series, then i realized that my tone sucked when i tried recording it, and sold all of the pedals. Digitech is not worth investing any money into.

Steer clear of the Eric Clapton Crossroads pedal, and the Jimi Hendrix pedal, because they are worse than most of the pedals, and are a waste of money

So what should i get?

Digitech > Win

The only problem I have with the Death Metal is that there's no gain control. Believe it or not, 'cranked' is NOT the best gain setting for death metal, or any metal at all (Especially when recording). The only style 'cranked' gain might be tolerable for is industrial. Other than that gripe, which doesn't even have to be a problem, it's a good-sounding pedal.

playing with both the Death Metal and the Grunge Pedal, ifind one is better off getting the grunge pedal

teh grunge pedal has tighter compression on the distortion, giving more defintion to the rythym part and you can get a pretty awesome lead sound out of it as well

i dunno, i just thought that the Death Metal was lacking, but the Grunge really did suprise me...try the grunge, you may find its more than you'll need in a distortion pedal

Why would you apologize for not liking heavy distortion?

Im not a digitech fan except for their Digital Reverb (X Series). I rather go with Boss instead.

Also check the new Behringer Pedals. I expect them to be good.

Why not get a Boss MT-2? Its more raliable, and I think cheaper than Digitech also.

uber metal pedal. Lots of options with that one. And you can literally kill people by throwing it at them. The thing weighs like 3 pounds.

I own one its pretty good but no gain knob. I think it has a good tone. you just have to play with the EQ.
