Well is anyone else doing track this year? I'm doing 300 hurdles and my coach keeps putting me at 4X400 even though i suck at it. It's a pretty cool sport, doesn't get much credit at my school.

I did track as a high school freshman and sophomore but called it quits for this year as a junior. I did the 800, hurdles, and long jump.
If you do both cross-country and track in one year (both takes place during different times of the school year), it gets you into really good shape.

Just came back from a track meet (it wasnt the big tournament...just an invitational, first meet of the season)
I signed up for 100, 110 hurdles , highjump and the 4x100
they ended up giving me shot and discus as well (which ive never done before, haha so i got quite bad results on those)
I did the 100 in 12.2 seconds...sucked at hurdles (it was raining like mad and i didnt have any spikes...) I did 1.70 in highjump and we came 2nd in the relay.
Not too bad, our school came in 2nd. The conditions were horrible though, heavy rain on the first day and friggin hailstorm on the 2nd

the track is 200m instead of 400m
instead of the 800 we have the 600. throw in the 1000. instead of a 400 we have a 300. 4x200 relay + 4x400 relay (4x800 during championship meets). no disc, jav, or triple jump. instead of a 100m sprint we have a 55m race. same with hurdles, 55m as opposed to 110m.

I run 200 (the thing I do the best 27.2) I'm trying to go for less time in this event.
200 relay (indoor only)
100
100 relay
400 (wich I suck at cause it can't pase myself)
800
It's my first year tho I've liked outdoor more than indoor.
The only fun thing about indoor is one time that we went to Slippery Rock University (in Butler County (PA)) and played butt ball in the rackett ball court.
Or the pizza eating contests we had. Or the fact that we could run in the hallways or the school.

At our school we do a 2 day track meet and your results count for about 15% of your final mark in phys ed, it's a fun time, you run a little bit and hang out with your friends for the rest of the time. I run the 100m, 200, 400, 1500 and i do the high jump as well.

Well, maybe, it really depends on the runner I know long distance runners that have higher times than me on the 800 and 400's but they got really good times on the mile and 2-mile. For some ppl the longer they run the better they do and other ppl are vise-versa.

I participate in indoor and outdoor track. I'm a junior. I've been doing hurdles since freshman year.
My PR's so far:
110HH - 15.1
300IH - 41.3
My goal in highschool is to break 40 in the 300IHs and hit a low 14 in 110HHs.
The funny thing is that I'm not even the best hurdler on my team...
I'm going to be doing Cross Country this upcoming season for my senior year, it should be fun since all my friends are on the team and I have a good build for distance running although I've never done it. I have the whole summer ahead to train and get in shape, I'm looking forward to it.

i'm in a bit of a dilemma, my coach has made an ultimatum to me because he's a prick
run a 4x400 relay against a ridiculous team (option 1)
vs.
stay home from the meet, study for the AP US history test that i've paid $82 to take, and forfeit my spot on the team (this happens to be the day before the test)
...so basically being a filler in a race my team will surely won't win (the other relay team runs in the 3:30s-3:40s) or staying home to study for the biggest test of the year so far (SATs looming) and get kicked off

Well, I'm not sure about now, but our team was considered one of the best teams on the east coast. When I was in high school we never lost a duel meet in 30 years. It's pathetic though, it was the best team in our school, and of course all of the football jerks(which were crappy teams mind you) still got the cream of the crop in funding and still continued to do crappy. :thumb:

I remember at the begining of the season where a bunch jag-off football players tried to join track. They quited one by one. Yep most of them are a bunch of fat, unathletic jag-offs, who were like "track is for pussies, Bla, Bla, Bla".

It is a great workout. Why would social outcasts in your school be the majority of people doing it? I dont understand you...anyways, thats not the case at my school or at any other school ive been to.
I mean it is the only sport at my school which im competing in. But thats because i cant stand all those other "standart" sports like soccer or basketball...if they had a rugby team or something i would definately join it. But I would still do track, in my opinion its a great sport.
