Oh my God. People care. They care oh so much about what you think. I mean, this is a forum, where you can voice your opinion, and people will listen.

Wait, what?

Get the **** out of his thread. There is no reason to spam up a serious thread in a specialized forum. In the Pit, fine, but not in here you ****wad.

that's a hell of an idea my man. :thumb:

and WOW that's messed up, though they deserve it I suppose, but making them stop selling the systems controllers and games is pretty nuts. It said that sony is to stop selling certain games as well, except they don't sell those games, which is odd, other companies design, produce, market and sell those games, sony just licenses them or whatever.

It really doesn't effect Sony that much, it's been a year and they know the sacrifices plust their japs so they always have somthing up their sleeve. It's like pocket change to them considering they average around $3 billion + a year in earnings. But still that sucks, o well

And the PSP was just released so:

1 million psp's at 250 each = 250 million$ alone

This guy summarizes it up good

"First:

Sony only has to worry about licensing for the duration of the appeal process.

Second:

They could very well win.

Third:

If they lose, they pay the fine plus licensing fees, which will not dent the company at all.

Fourth:

As long as they pay licensing fees and 90 mill, no action will be taken to prevent sale of ps and controlers, not in oakland, not in the entire US.

Finally:

This is a dispute in courts that is simply trying to figure out if the dual shock in the controlers was owned. This is where sony wins. You cannot file a patent on something like that. You can say, patent a lid for dunkindonuts. If some one else, like mcdonalds, is caught using same lids...then thats a lawsuit. BUT. If mcdonolds makes there own type of lid, even one with similar features, it is okay. Its very difficult to file a patent on something. And you gotta prevent losing it before that happens.

One last thing, Its kinda ludicrus. MS should have fought it in court. Its like patenting the wheel. I believe sony will win...BUT...this is why they waited the extra 9 or so months for release. They can go ahead now and charge for controlers as if they had to pay licensing fees for the dual shok. PS3 will be here dec 10th. Just gonna see a slight increase in controler cost...and ones without dual shock...which i will buy. "

They haven't copyrighted the whole idea of a rumbling controller. It's just that any invention (especially electronic ones) require a very large number of patents and Sony had obviously breached a couple during their construction of their Dual Shock controller.

NOOOOO!!!!!!

Dude that sucks. This is the reason I hate these ***-sucking lawsuit attorneys. It's called chain-suing. Instead of just telling them to a)stop making the DualShocks or b)pay loyalties to Immersion for using the Dualshock, they think to themselves, "How much money can I POSSIBLY suck out of this company for myself?" So they say, hey, let's tell them to stop making the system the controller is used on as well, even though it has NOTHING to do with the actual controller! And, hey, look at this electronic game ! It mentions "Vibration" in the Options menu! Let's stop THAT too!"

F*** them. I hope like hell Sony wins.
Oh, by the way, my opinions might be influenced by the fact that my stepdad is a DA, as in he screws these loser defense attorneys every day.

...Just because I hate lawsuit attorneys doesn't mean I'm a hippie. I just hate people like these guys who try to completely destroy companies or products over a loophole or a possible patent infringement. Am I the only person that thinks a violation of the vibration mechanism in the controller warrants a full injunction of production of the controller, the PS and PS2, and all those games? I don't even care that it's Sony or the DualShock, it's just the principle.
