I just got Doom 3 for Xbox yesterday, expecting to have a grand old time kicking my friend's *** all day, but the only multiplayer option was that dreaded SYSTEM LINK! Why haven't game companies learned from the success of Halo that split screen multiplayer support is the way to go? If they are expecting people to buy multiple Xboxes, TVs, and copies of the same game, they are dreaming. No one will shell out that much money just to play a game. What do you guys think?

I guess Microsoft are just moving on. Split screen is a little dated now, and you cant fit all the original qualities of the game into split screen.

I know its a bitch, seeing i dont have Xbox Live either. Its also i bitch moving all the equipment to each others house.

But when i plated system link Rainbow 6, THUG, Halo and PG2, it was so much fun.

Well you bought a TV, xbox and a game - why wouldn't your friends?! I think games should support multi-screen play no matter what happens, another whole tv thing would be a plus. It would be nice if you could connect 2 TVs to one Xbox with one game.

I don't find anything "dated" about split screen, except for the graphics not being as good. But who cares? Fun never gets old. I think most people would take fun and value over graphics any time.

I meant if you have friends over and you all want to play. If you don't have another xbox, TV, and game, you can't do it unless your friends bring all their stuff.

If it makes you feel any better, I have Doom 3 on PC and the multiplayer sucks.

My guess is that Xbox Live is what they're looking forward to.

Yes, with all the graphics orgies that are going on the thought of reducing graphics for split screen is uncanny to some. Such a shame.

I do agree Split Screen should still be kept, but most game produces dont really care about the minority of people who's only method of playing multiplayer is this way.
