i feel like i really need some advice on the subject. my new band just played our first show at an in studio performance on the radio last night...and i feel like i completely butchered our songs due to being nervous. listening to it in retrosepct, my guitar playing just sounds awful. i know the songs are good because they sound great in practice...mostly everyone who has heard them has liked them...yet it's like as soon as i perform them my hands get all shaky and i can't even play properly. i don't want to brag...but i know i'm a much better guitarist than what i sounded like on the air last night and i need to know how to overcome this. i write songs all the time that i think are really good, but as soon as perform them i just get nervous and they sound really bad...can anyone help me?

a small amount of alcohol can help (a shot of whiskey or so) but the main thing is to REMEMBEr that you've practised the songs. you really have nothing to worry about. in order to be a rockstar, you have to learn to turn that nervousnous into stage energy.

thats why I ussually keep girls backstage, and drugs...
If it get's too much, turn your back to the audience.
I could go through some relaxation techniques if you'd like?

i'd appreciate it a lot
its just frustrating to me because i know i'm a good songwriter...but i feel like noone else ever will know it because i just can't play in front of others...will it get better with time?
It should do.
It'll be hard to do this over the forum, got MSN?

you might be thinking to much, just dont even think about anything. you know your songs well enough, so playing them shouldnt be a problem. just clear your mind of everything and have fun with it.

just remember mate, nothing changes. From band practice in a room to playing in front of an audience, nothing changes. It's the same band, same song, just a different venue, but what can they do? Nothing that will directly affect your playing...just give it your best shot and don't leave anything behind, that way you'll have no regrets. (and less stress, it'll make you live longer ;) )
