hey, well, i got this programme [fruity loops] to programme drums with, because from what I'd heard it was relatively easy to use.
and i dont have a clue how to programme drums, what beats go where or anything, i'm not looking to make anything special, just a regular beat, that would go with some music (rock, not dance or anything) and wondered if any could tell me how to even begin with this, (since ive never played drums before in my life) or even, an easier programme. :p

thanks

alex

ah, /knows the feeling

have 4/4 time, bass drum crotchets, with a snare on every other one. put some ride and crash in every now and again.

1+2+3+4+
B..S..B..S..
HHHHHHHH

B = Bass
S = Snare
H = Hi-Hat

That is your no1, basic rock beat.

Yeah, I'd agree with Americangothic, just try a high hat on every quarter note, and a bass on the first quarter note and a snare on the 3rd. That should give you an idea and you can probably figure out more from there.

have a hihat going on the 1, 2, 3, 4

the snare on 3 and play around with different bass placement. sometimes put a crash on the 1.
